"I write this review as someone who has visited the Algarve, specifically Praia da Luz, at least once a year the past 20 years or so. The positives: the location, it has a pool. The negatives: it is not a 4 star hotel. I don't know where they get their ratings from but whoever rated it 4* should be suspended, sacked or shot. Preferably shot. My room developed a leak through a crack in the ceiling creating a large puddle at the end of my room. The solution I would have expected to such an issue would be to move me. Nope. The cleaner came in, mopped up both ceiling and floor only for it to return later in the day. You pay for wifi per device per day. Ridiculous from a 4 star hotel. Breakfast was edible. Just. Which is a crying shame as Portuguese food is out of this world when done properly. I couldn't close the windows in my bathroom. As such had creepy insects invade my room. I thoroughly recommend visiting Praia da Luz, great little place not far from Lagos with a cracking beach, just don't book here unless you expect nothing more than a truly basic hotel with a medium sized pool. Like I say, good location but that's about it. Needs some investment and lessons in customer service. Has potential, but falls drastically short."

Oasis Beach Apartments

"We booked a one week stay through Easyjet, flying from Southend. Whilst at the airport Easyjet contacted us to say that there would not be anyone on reception and they would email instructions, which they did. We arrived at 2am and there was someone there to meet us, find our key and show us to the room. A very pleasant surprise. The apartment was good, clean and functional. The lady on reception was lovely and couldn't do enough to help us. The pool area was clean and tidy. There as a bar area but that was never open during our stay. Positives Well equipped Clean Very well located Quiet Friendly Great resort A couple of niggles/negatives: No bedside table one side of the bed. An absolute must for us, but we made do with a chair. The head on the shower was split. The first shower we had, soaked the room and I mean soaked. The state of the bottom of the door we weren't the first to do this as the wood was splitting. We learnt to just not have the water turned on as much - the water pressure was fierce. Would we stay again - definitely."
