Very nice place to stay in, located in the center of Muscat and 20 minutes by car from the airport. We stayed in an executive suite, which is more than 70m2, with terrace. It was great. You have also a swimming pool on the last floor where you can swim and enjoy the view of Muscat

IntercityHotel Bawshar Muscat

My stay at IntercityHotel Bawshar was truly wonderful — it felt like a little home away from home. The location couldn’t have been better, with so many major tourist spots just minutes away, making exploring the area easy and stress-free. What really stood out to me was the warmth and kindness of the staff. From the moment I stepped in, the reception team greeted me with genuine smiles, the security staff made me feel safe, and the housekeeping quietly took care of everything so my room was always spotless. Dining at the Gourmet House was a real highlight — the food was fresh and delicious, and the restaurant staff always made me feel welcome, like I was a valued guest rather than just a customer. After long days of sightseeing, unwinding by the clean, refreshing pool or hitting the gym felt like the perfect way to recharge. Overall, my time at IntercityHotel Bawshar was both relaxing and enjoyable. I’d happily recommend it to anyone looking for a friendly place to stay with great amenities and a warm atmosphere.

The St Regis Al Mouj Muscat Resort

I normally don’t like to review hotels, especially not with negative comments. This hotel is small, clean, hygienic, and the staff are friendly. But there is one extremely bad issue: the noise environment. At 1 a.m., the restaurant downstairs is still playing loud music. It feels like staying right above a nightclub, and the “nightclub” not only has no soundproofing, but is completely open-air. I couldn’t sleep well for three nights, which seriously affected my travels the next day. The hotel is clearly aware of this environment. They should ask guests before check-in whether they can accept this noise, and arrange quieter rooms for those who cannot. The problem is that the hotel is small and built around the restaurants, all of which are open-air, and one of them is extremely loud. I have never seen a hotel like this — even ordinary hotels wouldn’t allow this. I really don’t understand how any hotel inspector could have approved it. Another issue: there is no dedicated pathway from the rooms to the swimming area. Guests wearing swimsuits or bathrobes must pass through the lobby, reception, and café, which is very inconvenient and not appropriate. Another problem: if you are self-driving, you need to detour several kilometers just to drive into the hotel. The most frustrating part is still the restaurant noise. I tolerated it for three nights because: • On the first night, I thought it might be a wedding or a special event, so I used earplugs. • On the second night, I realized it was actually the restaurant’s music. I contacted Ctrip — their support team was excellent and responded quickly. The hotel offered to change my room, but I was too tired to pack my things. • On the third night, I had to visit the cliff early in the morning, but poor sleep delayed my departure. Coming back, I was exhausted again. After three nights of not sleeping well, I was completely worn out. When I returned from the desert, I just wanted a nice hotel to rest, but the experience turned out to be the opposite. To be clear, the hotel staff and the Ctrip team were both very good. The final bill at checkout was also incorrect, though I believe the front desk staff didn’t do it intentionally. Because I hadn’t slept well, I woke up late and had to rush to wash the car and return it. While waiting at the car wash, I finally checked my mobile banking and realized I had been overcharged. Two dinners and two coffees totaled 245.8 OMR. But the charges were: • At check-in: £390.57 • At checkout: £1,045.52 • Total: £1,436.09 In reality, it should have been around £476.62 when converted. The bill was very simple and not complicated at all.

That was a perfect place to stay. Thanks for the very kind staff including Ridha and Nasser. I extended my stay here two more weeks and Mr Nasser offered me a great package price. Everything here was nice and the breakfast buffet was amazing. A big mall could be reached through the underground hotel. I am lucky to have selected this hotel for my first visit to the wonderful Oman 🇴🇲. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

This hotel is strategically located close to the Avenues Mall. Attached to this mall (and closest entrance to the hotel) is Lulu Hypermarket -an amazing supermarket with local and international brands, and a fantastic bakery. This mall is a 5 minute walk from the hotel. However, you do have walk along the road as the sidewalk / footpath does not exist. But this is only for 300 metres. In fact you can get off the street, but it is gravel/ construction site, so you shoes will be messy. Uber and Grab do not exist in Oman. However, the hotel has two or three taxi drivers that will you take you anywhere. They use set rates, rather than a meter. For example Hotel to Airport run is 8 is Omani Rial (US $20). While this hotel is great for shopping, it is not the best for major attractions of Muscat. The main historical sites of Alam Palace, Ai Mirania Fort and National Museum is 21 kms from the hotel. About 10 Omani Rial is each way by taxi. However, there are very few hotels in this area, so most people stay in hotels near Malls in Oman. This is some form of Public Transport in Muscat, but it can be hard for tourists to use without changing to another bus or long walks. For example, the Royal Opera House is 10 kms from hotel. By using public transport this would require a 2.5 kms walk. The hotel rooms are quite spacious and feature comfortable lounge style chairs. The hotel is located near an expressway /motorway, but good soundproofing means this is not an issue. I was of level 3 and could just see the ocean in the distance (right) and the mall (to left). They do have ocean view room (more expensive higher up the building). The TV is very disappointing - small & old with fuzzy channels. Fortunately, the internet is great, so viewing most programs on the computer. The rooftop has great swimming pool and bar, but maybe a little too cold to swim with highs of about 22-23 C in winter. Staff at receptionist are very obliging. I can definitely recommend this hotel for shopping and good base to experience Muscat. However, as mentioned, it is long way from the major tourists attraction of the city and taxi is required.

The Chedi brand never fails to disappoint. And the Muscat experience does it so much justice. And more. The usual “black pool” (2 of them actually), a gym like really really no other. And… the service. All the way up there. There should be more Chedi in the world! Special to Marebel and Anton who made our breakfast just perfect
