"After exiting Tazawako Station, it takes about an hour by bus from stop number 2 to reach the hotel, which is quite convenient. Buses are infrequent, so be sure to check the schedule carefully.
My room was actually on the C floor, newly renovated. The room was large and had a toilet, but no shower.
The hotel has Chinese-speaking staff, making communication easy.
The hotel's biggest feature is its highly acidic hot spring, with a pH of 1.2. It will sting if you have any open wounds. There are many hot spring pools, 11 in total, including 50% and 100% hot spring pools, and they are cleaned very thoroughly every day.
Shin-Tamagawa Onsen and Tamagawa Onsen are part of the same company. There is a bus service between the two hotels, and it's about a 15-minute walk (on a pedestrian path, not a bus route). If you're walking, be sure to ask for directions.
Tamagawa Onsen has a Jigokudani (Hell Valley) similar to Noboribetsu Onsen, but even more breathtaking. The Hokuto stone here contains radium and is said to have healing properties; many elderly people lie there daily with their mats.
The hotel food is very healthy, low in oil and salt, perhaps because the guests are mainly elderly and the diet is focused on health. My stomach felt very clean the morning after eating it."
