"I've always yearned to visit Eastern Hokkaido, so I made a special trip from Sapporo by JR train to Obihiro. The two-and-a-half-hour journey took me through the mountains of central Hokkaido, finally arriving in this central city of the Tokachi Plain on the afternoon of March 13, 2026. Coincidentally, my room number was 313. When I opened the curtains, the JR train station was to my immediate right, and the Obihiro bus terminal to my immediate left. While Obihiro Station is almost encircled by hotels, the Richmond's location is absolutely superb. After getting off the train, I turned right (West Exit) from the ticket gate, walked about 30-40 meters to the end, faced a small shopping mall, and then turned right again (north side). I spotted the hotel immediately, even before exiting the building – no navigation needed! The room was spotless and incredibly comfortable. After checking in, I quickly went downstairs and explored the area around the hotel. The city was impeccably clean and remarkably quiet. I've never fallen in love with a city at first sight like this before. It's no longer just about whether the hotel is good; now I'm seriously considering moving to Obihiro. The next morning, I started my bus tour early and didn't return until after 9 PM. On the morning of the 15th, I had breakfast at the hotel's buffet restaurant. The restaurant is called 'Ye Guang Bei' (Night-glowing Cup), but it's perfectly fine for breakfast. You can get 'tipsy' even without alcohol here! I love this hotel, and I love this city."

"This hotel offers incredible value for money. For breakfast, you get to choose one of three set meals; the Japanese option was quite good. The service attitude was also excellent. Our room featured a private Japanese garden view, which was very unique and picturesque – definitely worth booking this room type for photos."

"I used a five-day pass for my trip to Shiretoko Five Lakes, Abashiri, and Kushiro-Obihiro in Hokkaido. Obihiro is just over a two-hour drive from Sapporo, offering easy access to Kushiro Marsh and convenient transportation to Sapporo and Noboribetsu. The convenience of a single-person stay was the key reason I chose Obihiro. One minor complaint was the mixed-gender bunk beds on the first floor, and the lack of signage for the restrooms and showers was a major drawback. Breakfast was served in the lobby downstairs, and there were very affordable izakayas nearby. Jr. Obihiro Station is about a 700-meter walk away, and there's a bus to Koufuku Station right in front of the station. I love the Japanese countryside; every spot offers unique scenery and delicious food."

"I stayed overnight in Obihiro on my way back from a trip to Shihoro. There's a moor hot spring, and I warmed up in it twice. The breakfast buffet had a great view and was delicious! I'm glad I stayed here. The hotel arranged for my suitcase to be sent by courier, and I took the morning bus back to New Chitose Airport. The bus stop is right in front of the hotel."

"This hotel's central location in Obihiro was perfect for enjoying the local nightlife. We traveled by rental car, and finding parking was hassle-free with multiple options available (600 yen/day). We opted for breakfast, which was outstanding in both taste and quality. While there's a sauna, it can get quite busy and a bit cramped. If you prefer a more private experience, showering in your room is perfectly adequate. The water quality is excellent. The staff were proficient in English, so communication was smooth and effortless."

"Even though the rooms were labeled as non-smoking the was a smell of smoke in the room. I suppose this is coming over the AC to the rooms. We changed rooms three times until we considered it bearable. The breakfast was not held in the normal breakfast location but a huge meeting/ball room. As such, the atmosphere was not the greatest. The quality of the food was great though."

"It was very conveniently located near Obihiro Station. There was a parking lot on-site, so I was able to quickly leave my car at night. The hot springs were very relaxing, so I enjoyed them both in the morning and at night. I would definitely stay here again if I have the opportunity to stay in Obihiro."

"Great location, with a lot of great restaurants in walking distance. Room is so small that it was hard to open two luggage’s at the same time. But the cleanliness is impeccable. However, the public bath was kind of disgusting, full of black mold. I decided not to dip myself in the mold soup."

"I stayed for three days starting April 28, 2026. It is in a very good location in Obihiro. It is close to Obihiro Station and not far from the city center. Despite this, you can stay at a very reasonable price. Additionally, Comfort Hotel provides free breakfast to all guests. I didn't have high expectations, but they offer a more substantial breakfast than I thought. I think the service is excellent for this price. However, as it is a business hotel, the room sizes are very small. Also, there are no designated smoking areas inside or outside. If you want to smoke, you have to go to the smoking area at Obihiro Station. Since it is a business hotel, I wish they would create a separate smoking area, even if it is in a secluded location. This could be an advantage for non-smokers, though. Although it is a paid service, it is equipped with a convenient above-ground parking lot, making it convenient to use by car."

"The hotel is a bit old, but it's kept clean and is located right in front of Obihiro Station, making it very convenient for travelers. The rooms are also larger than those in other business hotels, and the hot spring bath was particularly nice."
