"I stayed for five nights and chose Imahama Tokyu Hotel over Shimoda Tokyu Hotel, mainly because it's within walking distance to the station, even without using the hotel shuttle. We arrived in Tokyo at 2 PM by plane, so we definitely missed the hotel shuttle. We took a train to Imahama station ourselves, but that station was a pain – no elevator, so we had to carry all our luggage down. Also, the Izu area at night can be a bit spooky with limited street lighting. Ms. Masaki, who checked us in, was very friendly. Later, she even provided emergency first aid for my family and me, which was much appreciated. However, some individual staff members at this hotel weren't very friendly towards foreign guests. Perhaps it's because they mainly cater to local tour groups. Some rude interactions made me uncomfortable, but this was only with a few staff members; most were friendly. Breakfast quality was decent and offered a good variety. Due to personal taste, my options were limited, but every morning there was a freshly prepared item, and they were all quite good. I especially liked the tempura fish and croquettes. The young man frying the croquettes was also very enthusiastic. This hotel also provides a microwave, ice machine, washing machine, and dryer. We didn't use the washing machine and dryer due to questionable hygiene concerns, but the microwave was very convenient. We'd often return to our room in the afternoon for a break and could easily heat up some simple food. The room cleaning service was excellent; it was spotless every day. My only regret is that the sofa bed was uncomfortable. When unfolded, the headrest area sank in, causing neck pain, unlike sofa beds in other hotels. Of course, Ms. Masaki did suggest upgrading to a room with a proper bed for an extra charge during check-in, but I decided against it due to the cost. Additionally, there were a lot of mosquitoes and flying insects in the summer here. We killed several mosquitoes and flies in our room and were bitten during breakfast. After the first night when we enjoyed the view from the balcony, we didn't dare open it again because there were too many bugs, especially at night. I suggest the hotel implements some pest control measures, like mosquito repellent lamps or wall-mounted insecticides (my family uses these every summer to treat our balcony walls)."

The Pacific Ocean spreads out before your eyes as you step inside. The open-air bath on the protruding terrace gives a sense of unity as if it were floating on the sea. The scent of the sea and the sound of the waves reverberate in every corner of your body. Escape from everyday life, face nature, and relax in peace.

"The hot spring was very comfortable; it's essentially a small, rural inn offering a one-night stay with two meals. The food was just okay, and there were mosquitoes in the hotel, which wasn't ideal. Also, Chinese tourists should be aware that to the left of the hotel's main entrance, there's a large monument inscribed with something like ”In memory of the heroic spirits of the Imperial Army.” Given the significant number of Chinese guests, I'd suggest the hotel consider their feelings and perhaps reorient the main entrance. (Actually, the hotel has a back entrance facing the sea, which allows you to bypass the monument)."

"Considering the price, especially compared to other private onsen (hot spring) options in Izu, getting two private baths – one indoor and one outdoor – is incredible! Plus, there's a little courtyard with koi fish and a free breakfast! You can even send postcards home for free! The lobby has seeds from the seasonal plants in their garden, some small crafts for sale, and a little bookshelf. Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, there's a small stream lined with maple trees, which I imagine would be beautiful in autumn. It feels very lived-in, like staying in an old house from a classic Japanese drama. The building is old, but everything is spotlessly clean and tidy. The lobby doesn't have air conditioning, so it was quite hot from the entrance all the way to the room, and there were huge mosquitoes. AC is only in the rooms, and they provided an extra fan, which kept things pretty cool. If you open other doors in the room, it can cool down the adjacent room a bit (but not much). Most of the time, you can sit in front of the garden, zone out, and feed the fish. It's a bit of a walk to the station and convenience store, but over my two days there, I found the scenery along the way quite nice. Rural Japan isn't as convenient as commercial centers, offering a quiet, peaceful kind of inconvenience (said playfully, of course). Oh, and there was a large spider in the room. I tried to shoo it out but couldn't, so I called a staff member who kindly removed it for me. Also, remember to turn off the lights if you're not using the bathroom or the outdoor private bath, as outdoor lights attract a lot of bugs. Overall, it was great, and I'd definitely come back."

"The staff are very polite and always willing to help. The room is big and comfortable. The sound-proof work is also effective, so I hardly hear any noise from rooms nearby. However, note that the hotel is in the middle of a mountain. If you don’t drive, you have to rely on the car service which the hotel offers (free of charge but not always available). It is almost impossible to go by foot. However, I must say the hotel staff has always tried their best to cater your needs, which I appreicate very much."

"This is a very authentic hot spring resort hotel located by the sea. The decor has a charming, old-fashioned homey feel. There are virtually no commercial facilities nearby, so if you don't choose to have dinner at the hotel, you'll need to eat your fill before returning to the hotel or buy food to eat in your room or lobby. It's a great choice for guests who prefer a tranquil vacation atmosphere. It's just one stop by tram to Kawazu, a fantastic spot for cherry blossom viewing. The hotel service is attentive; they even offer congee after your evening hot spring bath. 👍👍 The staff are friendly and welcoming. I'll definitely visit again next year when I go to Kawazu for cherry blossom viewing."

Featured on TV many times. Scored 4.9 on review sites for all-around quality. Izu's local cuisine and 5 types of baths to be enjoyed.

"This was my second visit. I had originally booked a hotel with a sea view by mistake and was thinking of cancelling, but then I received a call and thought that their polite service must be reliable so I decided to stay. It was a wonderful inn just as I expected, with the large public bath and the three private baths being clean and all lovely. The food was also elaborate and wonderful. It compares favourably to Michelin-starred cuisine. What was particularly wonderful was that when I wrote about a slight issue that bothered me last year, they had improved it this year. I'm not sure if they only made the changes to us so I won't go into details, but this inn really had great attention to detail."

"This is a bit worn out and simple hotel. The best things were the extremely friendly and helpful staff, as well as the super delicious dinner & breakfast that was included in the price. I ate maybe the most delicious croissant ever here. The variety and the quality of food was great. Things to improve are  the facilities, especially the onsen. It’s very small but more importantly, it wasn’t well maintained and there was no emergency button. When my mom felt like fainting, it wasn’t possible to call for help.  Also the air conditioner in the room was very loud, making it difficult to sleep. All in all, good stay."

"Take the elderly to see the Kawaji Sakura, which is just in full bloom in mid-February. Very happy. There is a bus to the hotel at the bus stop near Hejin Station. At the information desk, we showed the hotel address, and the uncle staff instructed to get off at the ”Ciyanyuanqian” stop, which is the opposite! It is also convenient (note that the bus schedule is very sparse, the journey takes about 20 minutes, and the fare is 400 yen per person). On the return trip, the hotel has a free car to take us away. The environment of the hotel is elegant and clean, and the dinner and breakfast are all right. There is night cherry during the check-in period, and the hotel has a free car arrangement after dinner (not to imagine China and the United States, it is a pity not to see it). The hotel has to take the stairs and the bathroom is outside the room, so the elderly should pay attention! Overall satisfactory."

Hejin Chalet Hotel is a single-family villa, the style is very beautiful, many tourists will punch in and take pictures. The place to stay is located on the second floor with a rotating wooden staircase, and it is slightly inconvenient to have large luggage. The room is very beautiful, there is a bunk bed among the three beds, the hotel will open the room according to the number of occupants, and the three people will stay in one room. The bathroom is fully equipped with a bathtub and shower, which can meet different needs. The Japanese-style living room has sofas, tables and cushions, which is comfortable and convenient. The restaurant kitchen is fully equipped, with refrigerators, microwaves, and kettles. You can also cook and barbecue on the rooftop. The scenery on the rooftop is good, you can see the cherry blossoms, but unfortunately February is still a bit cold. The hotel check-in staff specially waited for us to take the train from afar, checked in for us on the spot, avoided dragging luggage to a far place to check in, the service staff was warm and friendly, tried their best to communicate with us, the people were very good! Especially after checking out the next day, let us store our luggage for free in the office area downstairs, which is convenient for us to visit the cherry blossoms. Thank you very much! The location of the hotel is superb. It takes only two minutes to walk to the place to watch the cherry blossoms. It is not far from Hejin Station and it takes about ten minutes to walk. This hotel is recommended for the next year's Katsu Sakura Festival.
