Santa Catalina Hotel is undeniably a historic architectural landmark, but as a hotel experience it fell well below expectations. On arrival, the service felt cold and somewhat pretentious rather than welcoming, with concierge staff coming across as detached and pompous rather than genuinely hospitable. A key reason for choosing the hotel was the prominently advertised rooftop pool and views, only to discover after check-in that access is restricted to suite guests. The spa is similarly limited unless you pay €15 per person for 90 minutes, which feels disproportionate given the modest facilities. These restrictions are not clearly communicated at booking and leave a sense of being misled. Several of the lounge and communal areas were also frequently reserved for corporate events and seminars, which further diminished the sense of a relaxed hotel environment. As a guest, it often felt as though you were secondary to business groups and functions moving through the space, even in more personal hotel moments such as walking through common areas in a robe. In-room entertainment is very dated, with a non–smart TV offering only basic local and satellite channels. Room service carries a €5 delivery surcharge, while on-site dining is largely limited to high-end fine dining with little casual alternative. It is also worth noting that Las Palmas sits under a noticeably less favourable microclimate than the south and west of Gran Canaria. During our stay, conditions were consistently cloudy, windy, and cool, which further limited the enjoyment of the hotel’s already restricted amenities. For those seeking reliable sun and beach weather, the southern or western parts of the island are a better choice. Overall, despite its striking heritage setting, the combination of underwhelming service, restricted access to advertised facilities, dated in-room amenities, corporate use of guest spaces, and disappointing weather made for a stay that did not feel justified by the price and is not somewhere we would return to. The atmosphere and clientele also skew noticeably toward an older demographic.

The hotel is lovely all around but there was no functioning AC. There is a display where you can push buttons but neither the fan controls nor the AC controls do anything. After hours of leaving it on a low temp it was still 24.5 degrees. This trumps the fantastic rooftop views and the cozy decor because it means you can't sleep. I only stayed one night but unless they could guarantee that the AC is not just for show I would not return

Facilities: fully furnished, kitchen can cook, coffee machine is very easy to use. Hygienic: very clean and tidy, separated from wet and dry, large shower room. Environment: The surrounding environment is very good, close to the beach and the tourist pier. Service: The service attitude of the hotel is very good and comfortable.

This is a perfect hotel spotless like new build staff very polite helpful in every way comfortable bed big TV water in mini fridge breakfast available if wanted extra cost would deffo recommended as some of the building around the area are ready to drop 2 min to beach 5 mins to shops good location

Had very nice service from the reception staff, allowed us to check-in early and also leave our bags after check-out. The room was on the 14th floor, the rooms are a little tired but not bad for a short stay. The rooms could use soundproofing doors and windows. Pool area on the top floor of the hotel, only accessible by stairs. Offers great 360 view of the city. Location is great, a few minutes from the beach, port area, shopping centre and transportation hub

Very clean and comfortable room with everything necessary and with music option directly from mobile to room speakers, customable lights in Led, has seen us very complete for the area and the great price

We've gone 4 times and for the price that costs this super well

Check-in was a bit complicated and time-consuming as there was no front desk (you need to contact the hotel staff on WhatsApp). You need to be careful because you can't check in early or leave your luggage early even if you arrive early. Perhaps the canary is more humid than in Europe, the room smelled a little moldy and the room felt damp. There are windows, but is our room a courtyard? There was only a window facing, and the windows and curtains were closed all the time. Also, I think the walls are thin because I could hear music in other rooms. The door that separates the bedroom and bathroom is unstable and the gap above is large, so it is not recommended for those who care about sounds such as bathing or excretion. Also, since the bathroom only has shampoo and shower gel integrated, I think that those who are interested should bring shampoo and body soap. The room is equipped with a kettle, microwave, refrigerator, sink and tableware, so you can prepare a simple meal. Isn't it good for people staying consecutive nights?

incredible experience. friendly staff. comfortable beds. spacious and clean toilet. very nice terrace. All i would suggest is add more sockets in the room or add an extension cable. Also adding a shower door would mean alot less water on the floor after every shower. other than that its perfect
