"One or two times a year I spend a night in this city and each time I choose the Nota Bene Hotel for many reasons. The staff is smiling and welcoming, the restaurant serves excellent food with local high quality products, The wine choice is excellent too ! The rooms are well equipped, clean and if you need special attention (like I do because I travel with an old person with low mobility) the hotel staff will do its best to choose for you the most reachable room. All this and more for a modicum price ! In a nutsheel don't bother looking for another place ! Et pourquoi j'ai écrit cet en anglais moi ? ^_^ Non franchement super hotel, foncez !!! "

"Caveat: It seems from reading reviews on another site the problem may lie with one female employee. It is unfortunate I chose a night she was working for a room for my wife during a multi-day road trip. I made the reservation for my wife as she was driving across France and wasn't sure when she would need to sleep. I wasn't able to confirm any details by calling the property because of a language barrier but that didn't bother me because my wife is French and speaks natively. The demeanor of the lady checking my wife in was beyond a Parisian cold. Given what my wife has explained she was just rude. And my wife is someone who never likes to complain about customer service. The coup de gras was her being asked to pay the next morning after I had already paid. My wife thought I had paid on the website but she is not confrontational. Overall, there is another hotel chain in France that shares the name of a bird. I would highly recommend you go there for quick overnight stays. For the same price you will receive the same accomodations but with kinder service. But I must admit there was a lady the next day that we spoke to, Julie, who was very kind. Yet, I will never reserve another room there. In case the staff would like to reply and say this has to do with the restaurant being closed on Sunday, it does not. While we were surprised that it was closed we were prepared and I found my wife a place close by she could stop for a takeaway meal before she arrived at the hotel. Yet I do wonder how your guests eat on a Sunday. If it is as ridiculous as your scoff implied then all restaurants must be closed on Sunday and of course they aren't. Train your people to have some manners. Teach them, no customers, no job. "

"We were driving back from Blaye and heading to Strasbourg and we decided to stay in Digoin as a halfway stopover. What a great surprise it was to arrive at Hotel Villa Pona. The building is a beautifully restored stone complex. Our room was lovely with a very spacious bathroom and a very comfortable bed overlooking the Loire River. The staff were very welcoming and showed us our room and explained how the hotel worked. We booked for dinner at the restaurant L'Evidence which is in the same Villa Pona Hotel. It has two Chefs Hats as rated by Gault & Millau. The evening meal was excellent in a well set up dining room with lots of ambiance. We had breakfast the next morning and it was excellent. Beautiful fresh bread ( gluten free as well), baguettes, local yoghurt, freshly squizzed orange juice, jams, a plate of cheese and ham/slamai and of course coffee. We will definitely stay at Villa pona again when travelling in that area. It was a great place to relax after a long drive."
