We had the best stay at Akaishiya. The staff are all so friendly and kind and attentive, carrying our heavy suitcase for us, booking our dinner at an izakaya in town, and showing us how to put on our yukatas with patience and encouragement. Their English is also very good!  The ryokan is beautiful, with a gorgeous view of the canal from the room, and they even throw in a free onsen towel to take home :) You can also book bicycles for 500 yen to explore the beautiful surroundings of Kinosaki.  We had such a wonderful time that we would love to come back — and of course stay in Akaishiya again. Thank you!

The location of the ryokan is located in the center of the town, so the location was very good for public hot springs, and both hot springs in the ryokan were very good. The dinner and breakfast provided were also very delicious and the staff were very friendly and satisfied. Even if I go again, I think I will visit Morizya.

对不是日本人完全不友善的酒店 Not foreigner ( Western & Asian) friendly. We travelled around 70 Roykan in the last 3 years and this is the wrost service we ever had. Japanese get to seat and offered juices when they checked in while we have to stand at the front desk and no juice offered. We asked for the yukata rental (free rental) and the young staff just ignore us twice. We asked for sizes a few times then he just said it’s all here. Then when we picking the only two small sizes he grabbed and give it to the Japanese girl and ignore us or never ask us before he took it as he knows we are looking into those. Very rude. Most of ryokan will bring you to the room or assist to bring luggage or already put in the room for you. This one you do everything yourself after check in. When we get into the hotel room it’s hot as no aircon is on. Then air con is broken so we called reception. With their broken English they insisted I don’t know how to turn on the aircon which I told them the air con is broken, after 15mins on the phone showing me how to on I keep telling them to send the staff up as we are so hot in the room as it’s summer and no window open and no fan was on after moving luggage. They came up and fix the air con for 45mins then told us it’s broken and need to change room. The whole hour we were sweating but no offer of water / drinks or anything and we just stand in the room while they fixing. When they decided the room need to be changed, they asked us to wait downstairs but leave the luggage in the room so we thought they will move luggage to the new room but they did not. Staff see us so hot at lobby didn’t tell us there is free drinking machine that we can get ice juices , they just watch us hot and sweat and not saying a word. When the new room is finished, they gave us the new room key and asked us to move the luggage ourself and return the old key. No help at all and wasted 1.5 hours of our onsen time. No apologies as well. I feel like being treated like a trash. Not enjoyable at all. I paid extra for the sea view room which when they change my room they offered a slightly bigger room but my sea view was mostly blocked (in the pic )which I am not so happy. There is amenities corner at the lobby, at night after the onsen we come back and want to take the lotion as early on it was gone and they didn’t replenish, the female staff have a bad attitude and flip her eyes ask us which room we stayed, we showed her the key and she said the cream is already in the room which her broken English. There is one set in the room but those are small one time pack which we finish after we had the onsen so we want to take another one. She was rude and insist we can’t take. Her attitude was so bad seems like we are stealing. There is an amenities cornor, if you not allowing guest to take please do not have this setup. Food is okay with the buffet. Wagyu beef is nice but they is a normal standard for Japanese onsen buffet nothing too special. Overall, with the price paying compare to other roykan in Japan, this hotel have very bad service to non Japanese. There is also nothing special for this onsen. Probably best to try somewhere else.

This is an old Japanese-style ryokan, and the staff are all very friendly. The room is quite spacious, so you don't have to worry about not being able to open your luggage. They have their own Onsen hot spring and also provided a pass that allowed access to all five hot springs of Kinosaki Onsen. Dinner and Breakfast food are acceptable but not great! There was a shuttle bus in front of the train station. You can tell the driver that your hotel name and they will drop you in front of the hotel. The hotel also provides the free drop-off at the train station after check out.

General impression: This is a super decent house with an excellent view of the kinosaki village. You could feel the management put lots of efforts to maintain the best comfort of every guest and the whole team operated under warm & effective process. While we are having breakfast or dinner in the dining area, their staff make a very efficient turn to change our yukata, towels, bottles of water, making up mattress on our room.That impressed us so much! Onsen quality: The onsen inside the house is well managed and run until mid night. We can go outside with the free pass of public onsens, but we also enjoy ourselves in the in-house onsen because of more accessories provided there. You can feel the onsen owner care about guests more than the public onsens outside. Dining experience: We enjoyed the half board experience for 2 nights, especially the 2nd night with the tajima beef sukiyaki. The flavors & taste feed us well. Though breakfast is a bit simple, but we could make up some room in our stomach to enjoy snacks or ice-cream in the village. My friend & I would definitely give 5 star rating to Yamamotoya, and will recommend our friends to visit you again.

This hotel is wonderfully located in a quiet and secluded spot. The staff are friendly and helpful with everything. We had a room with a garden view, a waterfall, and direct access to the garden. Special thanks for that! Regarding the food: If you choose breakfast and dinner, note that dinner service is 2 hours long, and breakfast is 1 hour. Keep this in mind when planning your day. The meals are served in classic Japanese style at the hotel restaurant. Food is served in courses, and everything is fresh and delicious. There's a lot of food – in fact, it was almost too much for me. Dinner, especially, offers an enormous amount of food: fish, crab, appetizers, and so on. The hotel staff, particularly Kunvar Niruta from Nepal, assisted us with everything, including explaining how to properly eat the various dishes. For the onsens: there are private baths with fruits and flowers, which can be booked once a day for 40 minutes. There are also other private baths with unlimited usage time, and public baths available. The hotel also provides a shuttle bus to the station. Everything about the hotel is good: it's beautiful, cozy, interesting, and authentic. The only minor inconvenience was the short faucet in the bathroom sink, which was quite awkward. Otherwise, everything was excellent.

We stayed at the hotel in October 2024. We took two rooms for two. Pros: 1. Magnificent rooms in the style of a classic ryokan: everything is very beautiful, authentic, lots of small details, notes and tips for guests, interesting trinkets in the room. We had beds, not futons, but this is not a minus - the beds are very comfortable. The view from the room (3rd floor) is of the mountains. The cleanliness is perfect, the room has everything that should be in a classic ryokan room: from tatami to a low table for relaxing. 2. Incomparable kaiseki dinner. Excellent sukiyaki breakfast (you cook it yourself). 3. The most beautiful interiors of the hotel, it is interesting to walk around it, exploring it from the inside. The hotel is beautiful from the outside too. 4. You can smoke in the rooms (we did not do this, and the rooms are not smoked at all). There is a smoking room at the entrance to the hotel. 5. Wonderful staff. All requests and complaints are satisfied within minutes. They speak English poorly, but it's not a problem, we communicated through a translator. The guys are cool, cheerful. Quick check-in, a bunch of reminders about where and when to come / what and how to do correctly. 6. There is a private onsen (we did not use it). 7. They give a free pass to 7 public onsen. They give discounts on souvenirs. 8. They give excellent yukatas for onsen, for women - they will give beautiful ones, the choice is huge. Nuances: 1. The only downside of the hotel is the distance from the center of Kinosaki (15-20 minutes walk through not very beautiful places). But! There is a free transfer from the hotel to the city center, plus there is a transfer station-hotel-station. And the walk from the hotel to the center of Kinosaki did not bother us much. 2. This is not a business hotel, so there is no washing machine, iron or shower in the room. The shower (and in fact - onsen) is shared on the minus first floor - separate for men and women.

Upon arrival, the hotel gave us 2 free tickets for aquarium next to the hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful with parking valet and our luggage. The room we were in had an amazing view and it is spacious. It’s a Japanese style room and the staff had to come to put out futon for us around dinner time. Communal bath is big with an outdoor onsen. We noticed that they use salt water in the bath and onsen instead of chlorinated water like many other onsen hotel we have stayed in the past. There are 2 restaurants in the hotel but they open rather late at 7 and 8 pm so we didn’t get to try them. Breakfast were the same the whole we stay but they are pretty decent so there is no complaints. I would consider this to be one of the best hotel we have stayed during our trip there.

Our stay at Kinosaki Maruyama River Onsen ”Ginka” was the ultimate luxury, truly embodying the concept of an ”adults' hideaway.” First, we were impressed by the consistent tranquility and elegance that permeated from the lobby to the guest rooms. Located on the banks of the Maruyama River, slightly removed from the hustle and bustle of the hot spring town, the view from the window was like a painting. Just gazing at the gentle flow of the river, we could feel the fatigue of everyday life melting away. Particularly noteworthy was the meticulous hospitality. Beautiful flowers arranged throughout the inn and tasteful calligraphy soothed the soul. Even more surprising was the complimentary service after bathing! Not only were ice creams provided, but Yakult was also available—a level of thoughtful service that truly impressed us. The meals also far exceeded our expectations. Each dish was carefully prepared, and not only were they visually stunning, but the dishes maximized the flavor of the ingredients. My partner and I repeatedly exchanged glances in amazement. And late at night, spending time alone together in the spacious bathroom of our room, gazing at the tranquil scenery, was an irreplaceable moment of bliss. Our privacy was perfectly protected, allowing us to truly relax. This is a unique and exceptional inn where the extraordinary and warmth coexist, leaving you with a strong desire to return. If you want to spend a special time with someone special, there is no better choice.

The accommodation is right next to the train station, making travel super convenient – I loved it! I really enjoyed that the hotel offered foot baths and provided yukata and toiletries for the onsen. They also let us store our luggage. The room was beautifully Japanese-style! All the amenities in the room were easy to use, and there was a fridge with drinking water, which I really appreciated. However, on that particular day, since I was traveling soon, I had a large suitcase with me. Unfortunately, there was no elevator, so I had to carry my heavy luggage up to the third floor myself. It was incredibly tiring, but fun overall! 💖
