Everything is just nice. Breakfast is so delicious! I’m from Malaysia, but I can skip some of my Minang/Padang food hunting because they also provide local dishes, which are really tasty. The location is very close to Jam Gadang—within walking distance. The staff are friendly too. The only thing that made me feel a bit uncomfortable was this: I didn’t hang the “I need room cleaning” tag on my door because I was still in the room. A cleaning staff member knocked and said “room cleaning,” but I didn’t respond since I was still inside and hadn’t requested cleaning. Then, the staff used a key card to open the door. I felt a bit violated, though it wasn’t a big issue for me as I was alone and fully dressed. However, it would be better if staff didn’t enter unless there’s a clear request for cleaning—just in case someone is inside and not properly dressed.

This is probably my fifth stay at the Benteng Hotel. We first chose this place because of the reasonable price and its proximity to the fort and the zoo. It's also about a 10-minute walk to the Clock Tower. The service is friendly and clean. Parking is a bit tight, though. Breakfast is mediocre.
