Ella Ridge View

Ella Ridge View

📍 Sapumaltenna, Ella - Passara Rd, Ella, Badulla
★★★ 8.6 (38 reviews)

"Heaven on earth! Absolutely spoiled every morning with breakfast on their rooftop overlooking the famous Ella Rock. Possibly the best bedroom view I’ve ever seen. We travelled in April which is notoriously muggy and hot, but the electric fans are very powerful and kept us nice and cool in the evenings, they even have a sleep setting on them! Couldn’t have asked for much more. 5 min TukTuk to and from town (500sr or £1.50). Or a peaceful 10 minute walk. 11/10 would recommend"

★★★★ 8.3 (47 reviews)

"Stunning views and lovely infinity pool. Welcoming, helpful and friendly staff. Good laundry service BUT 1) room ( 1st floor honeymoon (!) by the lift) was the noisiest we've ever stayed in - we could hear every sound - snoring, noisy conversations, very loud running water , door alarms and howling wind noise 2) location 30 minutes from Ella 3) very average bland luke warm food in the hotel 4) cheap build quality room fittings and weird layout . We would have had a more restful 2 nights sleeping outside by the lovely infinity pool !"

★★★★ 9.4 (41 reviews)

"The hotel is beautiful. We stayed there for two nights. The view is extraordinary. Waking up to the sound of birds singing is wonderful. The jungle walk was superb. They have a massive estate. Everything is perfectly designed for the comfort of the guests. The service is highly attentive. The rooms are very clean. The price is well justified. There is also a game zone. We highly recommend this hotel. ."

📍 76 Police Station Rd, Badulla
★★★ 8.6 (17 reviews)

"The location is excellent. It's within walking distance of a street with restaurants. There's a supermarket and laundry shop nearby, which was very convenient. There's a slight incline, but it's paved and there's no soil erosion, so it's fine even on rainy days. However, some of the alleys are narrow, so you need to be careful when entering and exiting by car. The room was clean, and even though the outside temperature was low, the shower water pressure and temperature were perfect, making for a comfortable stay. The amenities—shampoo, body soap, and a large bath towel—were sufficient. I was very satisfied. They quickly arranged a tuk-tuk to Nine Arches, and the price didn't seem high. It's a good mid-range hotel."

98 Acres Resort & Spa

"This hotel was a wonderful facility where I could enjoy panoramic beautiful views and fresh ingredients, including vegetables grown on the hotel grounds. I was also soothed by the many birds, especially the peacocks. The oil massage at the spa was also very pleasant. I'd love to visit again."

The Capoe House Hotels in Badulla

The Capoe House

"had 3 nights in Capoe House in April 2025. The rooms are situated in a picturesque setting high up in the hills about 15minutes up a steep road. The rooms themselves are very nice and the service in the accommodation is excellent. You are isolated but easy enough to organise a day trip out like we did in a pickup and drop off at door tuk tuk who took us up to Ella to see some of the local attractions such as the 9 Arches Bridge and Waterfall. Captive for dinner and breakfast but the food was good. Is very relaxing and in a great setting. Just be aware if you are intending to spend the time at the house no TV and Wifi is a bit hit and miss but not really what you're going to stay here for. Great experience overall"

Anasa Wellness Resort Hotels in Badulla

Anasa Wellness Resort

"Hotel was a different league. Amazing lodge, great for family of 4. Loads to do. Food excellent. Would have been a 5 but it was so remote and hard to find and the pool was slightly cold. Next time would stay longer and use more facilities. Staff super friendly and helpful."

The Cubes Ella Hotels in Badulla

"I had a good experience with the hotel. The room was beautiful, there was hot water, and the dinner and breakfast were delicious. However, due to the construction site nearby, the view from the window didn't match the photos. However, that doesn't apply to the hotel."

Namara Green Ella Hotels in Badulla

Namara Green Ella

"This is a really great boutique hotel just outside of Ella town - a quick Tuk Tuk ride. It actually is closing for 6 months (from January 2025) to add another 8 rooms and you can understand why is it popular. I am sure it will re-open even better than it is now. It is in a beautiful setting and the rooms are really nicely decorated and very clean. The bathrooms are really great - large enough and good shower. There is no TV in the rooms as the owner wants to encourage people to get out into nature - but the internet is excellent, very fast. The breakfast does not have a Sri Lankan option, which is a shame as that would of been nice. For dinner (if you are in the hotel) you can order takeaway from the local restaurants and they will deliver. One tip is to always get a Tuk Tuk back to the hotel at night as walking back is very dark and along a road that does not have a footpath. Tony manages the hotel and he is really great - extremely helpful and just super friendly and very welcoming to everyone."

Dinaro Guest Hotels in Badulla

"It's good because you can walk from the station. The downside is that it's about a 10-minute walk from the downtown area. The facilities are satisfactory for the price. There is no restaurant."

Olympus Plaza Hotel Hotels in Badulla

Olympus Plaza Hotel

"It's a very budget hotel, you've got go up and down a number of flights of stairs to get to your room. There is a lift but only on one side of the hotel, The view side, no lift. That view is really good, even mist rolls in from time to time. Downside. the road to walk to town is pretty dangerous as tuk tuks, buses and cars don't really look out for pedestrians. Some of them even park where pedestrians walk. The food also was pretty average. There isn't much to do in the nearby town. Laundry is charged per item."

"The breakfast buffet was quite luxurious. Walking to Little Adam's Peak and Nine Arches was wonderful. That said, having millipedes in the shower was not good."

Olive Bungalow - Jetwing Select ★★★
"We chose jetting Welimada from Google maps as we wanted to stay at a tea plantation, it exceeded all our wishes. We were met by Shiva the butler who. Was at our elbows every inch of our stay, wanting grant our every wish more like a genie. The bungalow situated about 400 yards from the main house was immaculate, well equipped with its own kitchen. Bring your own beer there is a liquor shop on the corner as you turn off the main road and commence the climb. Well signed and we were driving our own Tuk Tuk. A place to sit, read, contemplate and practice your meditation and yoga. The only noise is from the chorus of birds overhead. If the shower is cold there is a switch on the wall to operate the heater, I found it after my first cold shower🥶The chef cooks to order often too much but he and Shiva are a delightful working duo. I would recommend 100%"

Moi Ella by DBI ★★★★
"The welcoming and staff are amazing and so is the dinner; however, the hotel is really far from downtown. My room was small but okay, it had a nice balcony with mountain view. The bathroom is big, but it flooded everytime I took a shower since there is no shower curtains or box. Watch out: the floor becomes very slippery! They did not clean my room or even asked me if I wanted it to be cleaned. I asked them for a silent room (my only request) and the front desk girl gave me a room over the restaurant which means noise started at 6:30am ):"

"We stayed 3 nights in this hotel with our 2 young kids. Room was clean, bedding comfortable and area really calm (6-8 minutes walking from city center). Staff were nice and accommodating. I have 2 major remarks: - hotel is noisy: you can hear everything (and everyone!) in the other rooms/terrace so if you have a light sleep, bring ear buds or don’t stay here - rooms are missing some shelves, especially in the bathroom were you have no place to put your stuff. Apart for this, this was an enjoyable stay and we recommend this place for your stay in Ella."

Mapakada Village - Mahiyanganaya ★★★★
"Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) If you are looking for a peaceful getaway surrounded by nature, Mapakada Village is a hidden gem in the heart of Mahiyanganaya. The setting is simply breathtaking — right on the edge of the serene Mapakada Lake, with views of distant hills and lush greenery all around. I just wanted to personally thank Mr. Ashen De Silva (Owner) for creating such a wonderful place at Mapakada Village. It’s clear that every detail — from the peaceful surroundings to the warm hospitality — reflects your genuine passion for nature, culture, and authentic Sri Lankan hospitality. What I Loved: • Scenic Location: The hotel blends beautifully with the natural surroundings. Sunrise over the lake is absolutely magical. • Comfortable Rooms: Spacious, clean, and well-appointed with a lovely rustic charm. The private balconies overlooking the lake were a real highlight. • Friendly Staff: The hospitality was exceptional. Every staff member was attentive, welcoming, and genuinely eager to make our stay special. • Delicious Food: A great selection of Sri Lankan cuisine prepared with fresh, local ingredients. The fish curry and lake fish specialties are must-tries. • Activities: They offer boat rides, bird watching, and cycling — a great way to explore the rural beauty of Mahiyanganaya. It’s also close to the Mahiyanganaya Temple and Dambana Vedda Village if you’re interested in culture. Final Verdict: Mapakada Village is ideal for those wanting to reconnect with nature, unwind, and experience authentic Sri Lankan countryside hospitality. Whether you’re a couple, family, or solo traveler, it’s well worth the visit."
