How to Ride HARUKA

If you have a reserved seat, just find the reserved-seat car, then find the seat number on your reserved-seat ticket, and take your seat.
If you haven’t reserved a seat on the HARUKA, the non-reserved cars are usually cars 5-6, or 5-7 and you can just grab any open seat.

On the day, simply present the booker’s non-Japanese passport along with the QR code for your Trip.com booking to pick up your paper tickets. HARUKA Ticket Redemption at the White Ticket Machines

The white machines are HARUKA-only redemption machines, installed exclusively at Kansai-Airport Station, and they can only be used to redeem HARUKA tickets departing from Kansai Airport. Redeeming your ticket at a white machine is quick and easy: just scan the QR code on your Trip.com booking right at the machine—no need to scan your passport. At the gate, simply show your paper ticket to the staff; you don’t need to pass through the turnstiles.

HARUKA trains offer Reserved Seats and Non-Reserved Seats; if you're traveling during peak season and don't want to line up for the non-reserved cars and squeeze in with the crowd, or you're worried there won't be space for your luggage, here's how to choose a HARUKA Reserved Seat.

How to Book a Reserved Seat on the HARUKA Using the Green Ticket Vending Machine

1. First, take the ticket you’ve already redeemed and find a green ticket machine
2. Switch to Chinese and tap "Use Haruka Coupon Ticket (Book a Reserved Seat)"
3. Insert your HARUKA ticket (you can insert up to four at a time)
4. Select your departure station, destination, date, and time
5. Select and confirm departure
6. Choose "Ordinary Car" (when seat reservations are available, the screen shows O; if there are no reserved seats left, it shows X)
7. Once you've picked your seat, you're good to go!
8. Finally, once you finish selecting your seat, the machine will dispense two tickets (the HARUKA ticket you inserted and a reserved-seat ticket).

How to Book a Reserved Seat on the HARUKA Using the White Ticket Vending Machine

The white ticket vending machines are mainly for non-reserved seat tickets. For reserved seating, they only issue "Designated Area" reserved seats; if those are sold out, you can only sit in the non-reserved cars. If you want to make sure you book a specific reserved seat, we recommend using the green ticket vending machines instead!
