When Does Korea’s Ski Season End?

Before heading to South Korea for a ski trip, make sure you know the operating dates for each ski resort. Some resorts stay open until the end of March, and while Korea’s ski season usually kicks off in December, the exact window for skiing varies by resort and region.

Since most of the ski areas near Seoul are clustered in Gangwon Province, the season typically starts in early to mid-December and runs through late February or early March of the following year.

Thank you, Panda Brother, for teaching me so many skiing techniques. He even gave me a rocket toy, which made me very happy. I'm only seven years old and I've been snowboarding all by myself. From getting my boots to getting my board, and during the lessons, he guided me the whole time. Yesterday it snowed heavily, and today the snow is very sticky. I'm not heavy enough to ski down, but Panda Instructor kept pulling me along so I could ski smoothly. He's really great! I'll definitely come again next time. Thank you, Panda Brother, for taking such good care of me.

Buy one-way ski resort and B branch intersection round-trip transportation, staying for 3 days is very convenient for skiers, this time forgot to book tickets early, trip customer service is very very good, instant assistance to deal with, let the itinerary smooth

The first time I experienced taking a bus, I would meet the information gathering point in the first day or two. The tour guide was very kind and had questions. When I bought it, it was an ice and snow park package, because the children also wanted to experience skiing. Ask the tour guide on the bus to add ski tickets. The first time I ordered, I didn't know if the park and skiing were the same bus. After that, I asked if the time of choice was the same, but I was also very happy, so that the child experienced two different happiness in a day. I will order again next time I go skiing, a cheap and convenient and happy experience 😊

The hotel room was spacious; four 29-inch suitcases could be laid flat with plenty of room to move around. Our whole family also used the in-room kitchen facilities, which were fully equipped. The beds were just the right firmness. The ski resort's cable car was very close, so we didn't have to walk far. The resort had a wide variety of restaurants, and the convenience store was very convenient. There was no need to worry about parking, and there was a convenient bus service between the ski resort and Seoul.

O2 Resort Ski Resort Gondola It is used as a tourist gondola in the summer. The gondola drop-off point is at the top of a high mountain at 1420m above sea level, so it feels like a mountain~ It feels like you are at the bottom_ Taebaekdo felt a bit hot in the middle of summer But the gondola peak is very cool I think it is a great travel recommendation for the hot summer.

The 30-pyeong room and lift package are cheap... The room is old, but clean and nice.. The slope view is nice, and the golf course view in the back is pretty too... I thought I might be able to see the stars because it was really dark around here, but it was cloudy so I couldn't see much... I think it would be visible if the sky was clear.. It's a bit far from Seoul, but for this price and this resort, I think it's the best value for money.. My family had a good rest..

Things to Know Before You Go

Iwappara Ski Resort

Clothing

What should you wear for your first ski trip? People often think you need to bundle up in heavy, bulky layers to stay warm, but the truth is, if you master the "onion layering" technique and choose the right materials, you can easily stay warm without feeling weighed down!

How do you layer up for skiing?

  • Breathable, moisture-wicking base layer: You'll naturally work up a sweat while exercising, so choosing clothing that wicks moisture and breathes is essential. Moisture-wicking performance gear, quick-dry T-shirts, or wool base layers are all fantastic choices. Remember to avoid cotton as a base layer; it absorbs moisture and stays wet, which can easily lead to hypothermia after you stop moving.
  • A warm mid-layer: The purpose of a mid-layer is to keep you warm, so opt for fleece materials think professional hiking fleece jackets or a cozy, insulated hoodie. Avoid bulky sweaters or down jackets that restrict movement; they’ll likely make you overheat during activity and can hinder your freedom of movement on the snow.
  • Wind- and waterproof outer layer: Your outerwear should offer both windproofing and waterproofing. Look for a waterproof rating above 8000 K to effectively keep snowmelt from seeping into your clothes. Breathability and abrasion resistance are also crucial for outer layers, which is why down jackets aren’t ideal—they typically don’t provide true waterproofing or good breathability.
  • As for accessories, be sure to prep personal items like a neck gaiter, face mask, ski socks, and a beanie ahead of time. Ski socks are especially important because ski boots are quite stiff and can rub while you move, opt for thicker socks to help prevent blisters.

Other gear like ski boots, helmets, and gloves is usually available to rent on-site. Although you can also rent outer layers like a ski jacket and ski pants, some people opt to bring their own for hygiene reasons, it all comes down to personal needs and habits!

SIM Card / eSIM

Whether you're planning a free-and-easy trip to Seoul or heading there specifically for a ski getaway, staying connected is an absolute must for any international traveler. eSIMs have become a popular way to get online in recent years. Unlike traditional physical SIM cards, an eSIM is a virtual SIM.

Once you purchase one online, you'll receive a QR code. Simply scan the code, follow the installation steps, and you're all set to start using your eSIM in Seoul. It's incredibly convenient!

Seoul Car Rental Recommendations

Seoul Car Rental Recommendations

Want to make your Seoul ski plans more flexible and avoid being tied to a rigid schedule? Renting a car will make your trip so much smoother! There are tons of car rental options in downtown Seoul, including well-known brands like Lotte and Hertz, offering thoughtful services such as airport pick-up/drop-off, GPS navigation, and snow chain rentals.

Driving from Seoul to popular ski resorts like Daemyung Vivaldi Park, Elysian Gangchon, and Yongpyong usually takes only 1.5–2 hours. You can easily plan multi-stop routes, and it’s much more convenient to drive to restaurants or supermarkets for supplies—an incredibly handy way to get around during a winter ski trip in Seoul.

Renting a car directly on Trip.com lets you compare different models and prices at a glance, and you can add winter must-haves like snow tires and GPS. The whole process—from booking online to picking up and returning the car—is straightforward, perfect for travelers who want the flexibility of driving themselves.

The vehicle is very new, only traveled about 6000 kilometers, but a bit of a fly in the ointment Now need to take the rental company's vehicle to leave the airport area to pick up the car, so we need to reserve half an hour to pick up and return the car is the same. But when returning the car, the rental company will drive directly to the departure hall on the 5th floor as soon as you exit the airport counter. Probably just new policy.

I had reserved a Hyundai Sonata, but on the day of the rental, they provided me with a Kia Sportage. It was a powerful car with a diesel turbo engine. I drove to Sokcho. It was convenient because I was able to borrow a Hi-Pass card. The procedures were done at the office on the first floor of the building, and the car was handed over in the parking lot on the fifth basement floor.
