If you're planning a trip to Seoul and Dongdaemun is on your must-visit list, let me tell you about a hotel I stayed at that made everything ridiculously convenient—Hotel Skypark Kingstown Dongdaemun. Let me walk you through what it was like staying there.
Why I Chose Hotel Skypark Kingstown Dongdaemun?
This trip to Seoul was all about food, shopping, and just getting a break from work. It's kind of a mini reset. I had a few days to myself, so I wanted to stay somewhere that made it easy to explore without wasting time commuting. That’s how I stumbled across Hotel Skypark Kingstown Dongdaemun, a 4-star hotel in Seoul.
It's right in the middle of Dongdaemun, on top of a subway station with three lines. The price was reasonable too, especially considering how central it is. Plus, the photos online showed clean rooms, although it opened in 2016. And I thought, why not? It looked like a comfortable base for my Seoul adventure.

How to Get There?
The location is honestly one of the biggest reasons to stay here. Just took the Airport Bus (#6001) straight from Incheon. It dropped me off just a short walk from the hotel, which was super convenient with luggage. You can also take the subway (Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Station), which connects you to Lines 2, 4, and 5.
Near the Hotel
So getting around Seoul is super easy. Whether you’re heading to Myeongdong, Gangnam, or even Hongdae, you can pretty much get anywhere without transferring too much.
It’s also right in the heart of the Dongdaemun shopping district. I could literally walk to LOTTE FITIN, Doota Mall, and the Dongdaemun Design Plaza in under 5 minutes. Plus, if you’re a night owl, you’ll love this area. There are many late-night food spots, convenience stores, and cafes open till late.

First Impressions & Check-In at Hotel Skypark Kingstown Dongdaemun

Walking into the hotel, the lobby was bright, clean, and surprisingly calm for a place right above a shopping mall. Oh! The check-in floor is located on the 14th, and downstairs is the shopping mall and outlet.
It had more of a business hotel vibe. Nothing there was super fancy, but it felt neat and efficient. The front desk staff spoke enough English to help check in smoothly.
This place is modern, organised, and convenient. It may not scream luxury, but after a day of travel, I appreciated how straightforward everything was.

The Room: What You See Is What You Get?
I booked the Balcony Double Room. The room is 20㎡ and has 1 double bed. It was pretty much what I expected: clean and cosy without feeling cramped. There was enough room to open my suitcase, move around comfortably, and just chill after a long day out.

The bed was comfy, and the pillows were nice and fluffy. But the real highlight? The small balcony. It’s not huge, but it was such a nice spot to step out in the morning with a coffee or just get a bit of fresh air at night. I even had a partial view of the Dongdaemun area—nothing super dramatic, but still a nice touch.

The bathroom was compact but super clean, and even had a bathtub! They provided the necessary amenities. The little things made the stay more comfortable.

If you're like me and enjoy having a bit of outdoor space (even in the middle of a city), the Balcony Double Room is definitely worth that small upgrade.

The hotel is near to Dongdaemon history and culture park, around 5 mins walking distance. It located behind Doota shopping mall. Hotel provided breakfast but did not provide toothbrush. The aircon is off due to cold weather, but no worries, open the window is sufficient to make the room cold. The hotel near to double decker tour bus and Diki-diki playground (below 5 yo) just beside the subway. Overall the hotel environment is nice n convenient.
This is my second time to stay in this hotel. Its location is convenient if you prefer to take the underground when you go out like me. You can go to Gwangjang Market and Dongdaemun by walk. 😊 There’s a convenience store inside the hotel. Also, a wide variety of food you can enjoy for your breakfast.😋😋
