The room was comfortable and clean. However, the first room I was given faced the street and was a bit noisy, which affected my sleep. After two nights, I asked the front desk staff to switch rooms. The staff member was very helpful and showed me the new room, for which I'm very grateful. I slept very well on the last night. The hotel is super close to Nara Station, making transportation incredibly convenient. I even walked to Nara Park.
The B&B I stayed in in Japan was beyond my expectations. It was quite fresh. Although I had to climb up and down, the room was well-equipped and I could go shopping right outside. It was very close to Nara Park.
Very clean. Staff speak both English and Japanese and are very friendly and helpful. The guesthouse is within walking distance of both Nara Station about 10 minutes and Nara Park about 10 minutes but in the other direction. Would definitely recommend a stay.
This is my second time staying at this hotel, and it's always child-friendly and highly rated. The rates are reasonable, and the surrounding area is great for shopping, leisure, and entertainment. I think it would be even better if there was a place to buy souvenirs inside the hotel.
Good: Good cost performance, Good staff, great variety of food, convenient location - next to train station and convenience stores, signs are in english and Japanese. Staff have limited english skills which is ready good for simple requests I think.
Bad: room seems to have no air conditioning (cool cold air) - the ”air condition” dail only has fan speed not temperature and it blows warm air. The window gives cold air but can be noisy, especially at day time with construction work going on nearby unless window is left very slightly ajar.
Overall it's fine but not sure how good it is in the summer without air-conditioning.
The room is large, suitable for self-driving family travel. There are not many restaurants nearby. The hotel can make a reservation for barbecue, but it should be noted that you should make an appointment with the hotel three days in advance before entering. Pastoral scenery, you can see beautiful sunrise and sunset.
The hotel is literally next to the JR Nara Station. You can purchase all of your travel tickets there and the airport bus tickets, too. In that area, there is a grocery store, a Walgreens type store, and nice affordable places to eat. I highly recommend the place on the corner(pic #1-2). The two guys that run it are so nice. There is a long shopping/restaurant street kinda across from the tourist center. I don't recommend this one ramen place located there. They make everyone pay before eating, and for the basic ramen that I got, it was overpriced. My bowl wasn't even full!(pic# 3-7)
The tourist center is located close by, and the folks in there are very helpful(pic# 8). All of the buses are right there, so touring is very easy. The hotel itself is very comfortable. It's keyless, so take a picture of your pass code. The onsen on the premises has a pass code as well. Inside was very nice and relaxing. I went at 2:20am and it was wonderful. They have pajamas, pillows, and a free happy hour. The variety of spirits is extensive. Also, the elevator smells so good! The scent will de stress you. You can try a lot of things with a nice view of the station. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. The last two pictures are the view of the bus terminal. There is another one on the other side of the building. This is the front view (airport bus location)
No waiter, completely self-service! The room is OK, relatively clean, and the bedding is very soft. Not far from the scenic spot. But it is fully self-service! ! !
The hotel is conveniently located near the station in a quiet area. You can walk to Nara Park and the nearest sights. The room had a teapot, tea, plastic glasses (which is uncomfortable), a fan, a lingerie dryer, bathrooms, lots of towels. But on the layer floor where the bed is very dusty. All the windows and curtains are in dust. Appended a photo.
This hotel's convenient location near the train station and a five-minute walk from a shopping district offers easy accessibility. While the bathroom curtain exhibited an unpleasant odor (not a big deal), the overall environment was quite pleasant.

GGuest UserFirst of all, the service staff is warm and thoughtful, and the attitude is amiable! Tell the precautions, the hotel is clean and hygienic, and the quilt is covered by yourself. The bathroom in the bath is particularly clean. Every guest is very conscious. Try to control yourself and not disturb others. It is really great!

LLiubovExcellent stay in Hanaya Tokubei!!! Thank you!!! We stayed here for only 1 day, everything was top notch, the hardest part is getting here (buses only run 3 times a day), but it's definitely worth it!!! We checked into a spacious room in a traditional style, we were given yukatas - traditional clothes, you could go outside in them to take pictures. There are 2 small onsen with very hot water, I liked the one on the left with a panoramic window to the street, to the Red Gate. After a hot bath, your body feels very relaxed, it's great to go to a room with light jazz music and relax there and enjoy your rest. And then it's time for kaiseki - an aesthetic and delicious dinner - which perfectly completes this wonderful day. The next morning they serve an equally wonderful breakfast. After checking out, you can leave your suitcase in the lobby and go for a walk around Dorogava, namely to the 2 caves and ride the monorails leading to them. It was a perfect holiday, really enjoyed it, thankful for this experience!
WWudecunThe location is great, just a five-minute walk from the high-speed rail station! Clean and sanitary, Chinese-speaking front desk staff, and the owner has decades of experience in tourism management and is warm and polite! I will definitely come again.
KKiraПрекрасный отель недалеко от станции и от Нара парк, чисто, красиво, дорого. Особенно понравилась общественная баня. Но номер отличался от картинки и это разочаровало, так как для фото на память хотелось именно такой номер.
杨杨丰凯The hotel room was incredibly spacious and well-equipped, definitely the largest and most complete I stayed in during my Kansai trip. And all for just about $44 (based on the exchange rate on November 19, 2025)! However, the hotel's location is quite out of the way; it's about a 30-minute walk to the nearest subway station, and the closest bus only comes around after a long wait. Plus, there's a cemetery right next door to the hotel.
GGuest UserLocated a 6-8 minute walk from Nara Station, the hotel is right on a main street. It's surrounded by plenty of shops, making it incredibly convenient for both shopping and dining. Todai-ji Temple and Kofuku-ji Temple are also easily accessible. The place was clean, the front desk staff were very friendly, and they offered luggage storage before check-in. Overall, we had a very satisfactory stay.
AAnonymous UserThe hotel's location is fantastic, right next to the subway station, making it incredibly easy to find upon exit. Just diagonally across from the hotel, there's a bustling shopping street, offering great convenience for dining and shopping. There's a bus stop right outside the hotel with direct service to Nara Park, allowing you to get off and leisurely explore the area. We booked a room including breakfast, which was a buffet. The front desk staff were also very friendly and welcoming. If you arrive early, you can even store your luggage with them and go explore before check-in.
