Hotel Degli Aranci ★★★★

"Like a lot of people who have reviewed this hotel previously we stayed here for three nights as part of a Riviera travel company tour of Puglia. Of the three hotels we stayed in on this tour it was the most Italian in style and the least business corporate and a lot of what other British visitors have complained about are things that enamoured it to me. Yes it is a bit of a strange layout, being two wings, each with their own lifts and there is a separate breakfast room in one wing and the main restaurant room is in the other separate wing, which takes a bit of navigation first time round. Yes the two lifts in the main building are small and not the quickest, so you will need to queue on arrival, especially if you are part of a party. But after this they were perfectly fine. The rooms are very good ours being quite spacious with balcony equipped with a small table and chairs? It had a Large comfortable king-sized bed (was the usual two singles joined together but you could hardly tell). There was a decent sized wardrobe with a built in safe and the room benefited from very efficient air conditioning. A small but functional bathroom with a walk-in shower unit with a strange built in massage unit. Tried to initially use this but it wasn’t very practical, so kept to the efficient shower head most of the time. The food at both the breakfast service and the two evening meals we had included was very good. The evening restaurant service starts promptly at 7 and is the usual anti-pasti table followed by primo the second courses, and the service is typical of more Italian style hotels in this part of the country. So, if you decide to attack the anti pasti table before the staff are ready you will be told to sit down. It is not the staff being rude, it is you not understanding the procedure. In fact all the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful, especially the staff at the small hotel bar. Yes, the drinks prices are more expensive than you will pay at a bar in the Old Town, but please show me a hotel where they are not. And one of the big pluses is the hotel location. It is in a quiet residential area but only a five-minute walk to the nearest beach or 10 minutes to reach the Old Town. There is a church next door that does chime on the hour but it stops at 10pm and the first peel is at 8am. All the public areas of the hotel were comfortable including the nice outside pool area, with its small unheated pool ( or at least it was at the beginning of May). All in all we enjoyed the stay here."

"All in all, an excellent hotel/resort. The location is perfect due to its proximity to the beach and the old town. The service is very good; the staff treated us exceptionally well. Everyone is polite and helpful. A young, dark-haired woman at reception, in particular, gave us some very good tips. A young man, born in Germany, was also incredibly helpful, remembering our morning routines like a pro and immediately serving our favorite coffee. The brunch/breakfast is varied and delicious. The rooms are a bit small, but still nice and clean. The pool area was like a little oasis of tranquility."

"Situated pretty much in the heart of Vieste and as mentioned elsewhere in a tall narrow building with steep steps up from the entrance. Aldo, the host was obviously very proud of his property and keen to explain everything. Very helpful from greeting us on arrival to booking us a good local restaurant. Bit noisy at night until restaurants closed but a decent nights sleep. Comfortable spotlessly clean room. Good breakfast."

"Edit: this was the second year in a row we've stayed with Stefano and Valentina at Dimora Cumma Mari. We love the property, we loved our host and hostess, and Vieste is a very special, relaxing place. What follows our review from our first stay. I'd change nothing in what I've written, but would just emphasize again how special it was. Vieste is an absolutely enchanting town on the eastern end of the Gargano peninsula. Dimora Cumma Mari added to our enchantment. The B & B sits literally steps outside the entrance to the old city, so it’s in an absolutely perfect location. The couple running the B & B—Stefano and Valentina—are extremely friendly and helpful. Perfect hosts. The rooms are limited in number: 6 in total. They’re comfortable, spacious, well-appointed and modern; they clearly put a great deal of thought into the original renovation. We stayed in the Marina Deluxe Suite, which featured a lovely view towards the faro, two balconies and a kitchenette. It was delightful. Breakfast was on an interior patio and featured a lovely Mediterranean breakfast buffet. They also have a private terrace on the roof with killer views. Stefano and Valentina are eager to provide their insights on what to see and do, both in Vieste and on the Gargano peninsula (and they send you their own customized guide when you arrive). Given their proximity to the old town, on-site parking is extremely limited, but the hosts will help you figure out parking. I can’t say enough good things about this property or the hosts. We will be returning!"

"Extraordinary! Our expectations were greatly exceeded, our choice was purely random, instinctive, we did not expect such a loving, almost familiar welcome. We didn't expect the hotel's location to be so strategic, one step away from the sea and within walking distance of the center. The services offered are multiple, comfortable rooms, excellent cuisine and variety of dishes and excellent service. Attractions for all adults and children with swimming pools with slides for the little ones. But our particular compliments go to Carol and Simona for their work, which in just one week pampered and entertained us with their entertainment for both children and adults. Congratulations to all the staff, I will definitely be back Davide, Giusy, Ilaria, Francesco"

"Good hotel, clean, with secure parking, not far from the center. You cross the road and you are on the beautiful beach of San Lorenzo. Nice pool area at the hotel. Breakfast was good, although the scrambled eggs were cold. The restaurant is not recommended, with slow service, quite rude and unprofessional waiter, food without praise and without infamy."
