"The kids were sooooo excited to go swimming. That lasted approximately 3 seconds once they jumped in! It was freezing! Anyway, the beds were ridiculously hard. Thin top blanket, but it didn’t matter because the AC kept shutting off. None of us slept well. Regardless, my 9 year old actually said he would have rather slept in the car while we kept on driving. That’s how uncomfortable he was… 🤷♀️"
Hyatt Place Topeka ★★★
"Friendly staff and the place is clean."

"The entire experience was HORRIBLE from check in to check out!!! People were hanging out the window on the top floor when we pulled up. There was not an elevator in the building and no one to help with the luggage. We paid for a short stay days in advance, paid the deposit when arrived, and were left to carry our OUR OWN bags up 2 flights of stairs!!! We found garbage left in the room from coffee cream to candy wrappers when we first walked in! So it obviously was not thoroughly cleaned or vacuumed! The tub was extremely DIRTY!! The bed linen had holes! Both beds smelled HORRIBLY!! We went to a store and bought our own cleaning and sanitizing items, bed linen and bath towels. The refrigerator was dirty and the TV did not have a remote control. The front desk agent had to bring a remote from another room and program it to the TV. The halls smelled like cigarettes during the day and ********* every night!!! The other people in the hotel were poor and constantly trying to find ways to steal food, drinks, and money! Both, naturally and spiritually!!! This was one of the WORST PLACES I'VE EVER BEEN!!!!"

Quality Inn I-70 at Wanamaker

"We booked a room with a couch, I was told that the only room like that was on the second floor and because I had a pet (which was known at time of booking)and our room would need laminate floors we could only stay on the first floor therefore we would not have a couch. Explained the need for the couch and the length of our stay. Was told no. I saw pictures of rooms with laminate floors that had couches on the website so was a bit confused, but let that be. When getting to the room, I saw that the furniture was very worn and the seating very sparce. The beds creaked and were shaky, but we managed. It was advertised that there was an indoor pool, but apparently it was not functioning. This was not mentioned on the website for this location. I was planning on letting my grandchildren swim and I wanted to hot tub myself. It was advertised to have a hot breakfast. We were lucky to get weak coffee and cold cereal. Small packaged muffins were sometimes available. This is not what I call a hot breakfast. The staff were very pleasant and as helpful as they could be under the conditions of the motel. When we walked our dog, we had to be careful so to not have her walk on broken glass or beer cans. We were almost certain if we explored more we would have found needles, there were grocery carts all around and pretty sure homeless lived around the trash bins. We are from Topeka and back visiting for my grandson's music concert. We knew that area so was surprised to find it in such disarray. You would have thought for the area of town the motel would have been kept up better."
