Winterhaus Lodge

Winterhaus Lodge ★★★

📍 11 Alpine Way, Thredbo

"Julie and Greg were wonderful, genuine and warm hearted hosts, they were extremely accommodating - above and beyond! The lodge was very comfortable, tidy, cosy and clean. Showers were hot, bathrooms have been updated in recent years. The complimentary breakfast options were well catered for: yoghurt, fruit, toast, cereal options and croissants! The cosy fire and lounge area was particularly special with fantastic views. Would highly recommend."

📍 2 Buckwong Pl, Thredbo

"We went as a family and were so happy here! Lovely, clean room and comfy beds! Excellent and friendly service - especially from Lachie! Huge kitchen and space to store food if you want to self cater. Communal showers can be locked with change areas so was easy for us. Drying room for your ski gear. Definitely recommend and will be coming back."

Bernti's Mountain Inn

Bernti's Mountain Inn ★★★

📍 4 Mowamba Pl, Thredbo

"Too much in my serve apart from that and the I have to say odd blokey decorations pics on walls including sporting jerseys and teams however service was one notch above perfect despite slightly and inexplicable smaller numbers considering there were three thousand runners and their supports in town… anyway the margaritas were just like home a comment we related to our waitperson which seemed to endear us to she/him an we had quite a number of chats. Rather limited offerings considering the visitation to Thredbo for the weekend, Lorraine had the dumpling curry which received the tick of approval I opted for the prawn and chorizo fettuccine which as soon as it arrived I knew I would not finish despite nothing since a BLAT FOR breakfast still, a nice quiet dinner for two and Berntis is always a great place to eat and we have eaten there perhaps fifty or sixty times over the years and always is a great dining experience"

House of Ullr
8.1 (22 reviews)

House of Ullr ★★★

📍 89 Mowamba Place, Thredbo

"Very basic room at back of hotel. No view at all. $1000 a night. Looked lovely in the photo but is super dinge in real life! Tiny fridge, 4 cups, slowest kettle. 2 rooms with bathroom between. We could cope with the share house styling, but the shower is really really dangerous. It scalds and then goes freezing. The temperature is dangerous for kids. Don't leave them unattended. The shower lever even came off in my hand when the water went suddenly lava temp. There's nowhere to unload, just a small area out front. There's no common area or fire or anywhere nice to sit. Theres only enough room for beds in the rooms. The carpet is old and the tile steps are filthy in the entrance. A $250 bond has to be paid in case of breakages... Hilarious!!! We all felt dirtier and a bit broken by choosing this 'house' of grimness."

Winterhaus Lodge ★★★
"Greg and the friendly team at Winterhaus come highly recommended! Clean and tidy rooms, awesome daily hot breakfast to help fuel us for the day and wonderful views from the accommodation. The local free bus helps get to and from the snow in under 5 mins and you never wait longer than 10 mins to get picked up. Walking distance to everything you need too! Wouldn't hesitate to come back and stay here again! "

"A lovely place to stay with friends. Chairlifts is just 10min walk away. Car park is at P1, P2 and P3, 10min walk down the slope. Free. 15min unloading is allowed at Kara's apartment. That's the only inconvenience. The wonderful lodge made up of this inconveniences. Fully equipped kitchen, beautifully living room, and balcony lookout to the mountains. On one quieter evening, the kangaroos came to dining windows!!"

"I really loved this hostel! I booked a room the day before and let them know I'd be arriving very late. The receptionist told me I could pick up the keys from the safe near the hostel entrance. I arrived at 10 PM, opened the safe, took out my room key, a note with my room number, a village map with parking, and a letter with the hostel rules. I was alone in a quadruple room and could choose any bed! The room was clean, the beds and doors didn't creak! The shared showers were also very clean! The hostel was very quiet; at 10 PM, there were two guests in the kitchen watching TV. The kitchen area was very clean, perfectly tidy, everything was in its place and labeled! In the morning, we had breakfast, and there were two or three guests in the kitchen. The receptionist came in the morning and was very friendly. Parking was easy; at the entrance to the village, there are signs indicating the daytime and free overnight parking. The parking locations would be clear to any foreigner like me. It's a 5-10-minute walk from the parking lot to the hostel. Only the laziest people want to drive right up to the hostel door. Deer wander around the hotel at night. It's probably very crowded during the colder months, but in January it's very quiet and cozy. I really liked the hostel; it was reasonably priced and immaculately clean! I stayed in a similar hostel in Sydney, but for that price, the kitchen was filthy and there were a lot of guests in the hostel. If I ever come to Australia again, I'll definitely stay at YHA Thredbo!"

Bernti's Mountain Inn ★★★
"Writing this review on behalf of my . Extremely disappointed and feel totally ripped off. For the price I paid, I expected a nicely refurbished standard room at the very least, knowing that it is peak snow season, however I was faced with a room that was not even worth 1/10 of what I paid. It is a very old style with lack of any comfort and space. This room has been closed in from an outside balcony. Considering the room should accommodate people staying for more than 1 night, it lacks basics such as storage. There are no drawers not even a basic suitcase stand. My suitcase had to sit on the floor which I have to keep stepping over. Thankfully I’m alone despite the room being for 2 adults. Thank God my wife is not with me! The wardrobe is not big enough to store all of my things. It is very average thin walls and no double glazing. I can hear all the noises outside. It is certainly a very deceiving ad. I am extremely gutted that I’ve paid thousands of dollars to stay here for 5 night. To add salt to the wound you have to pay $100 a night to park your car! The room itself is not even worth that per night. fortunately the manager let me park my car for a short time to bring my luggage in, but even that was not offered. I had to actually ask. Look elsewhere if you can! other rooms are perhaps nicer but considering what I paid, you would be paying a bomb to stay in a better room.. This place is just fully taking the piss never again"

House of Ullr ★★★
"They call the eating/drinking place Mad Mexican. It fits. Is it a bar, is it a cafe, is it a restaurant, who knows. They don't. I mean, they have a super huge TV screen plonked right in the middle of the 'dining' area showing sports + loud music + al fresco dining at high tables and stools. Very strange vibe. I ordered early on a Saturday evening, but the Chicken Wings were 'not available' from the rather tiny menu. The tacos were minute. I know this is Thredbo, but I don't think 4 bites for $22 is justified. I asked for a coaster for my pint of Coopers Pale Ale ($13 from the one of the few taps) but they didn't have any. Nor were serviettes to be seen or provided. Staffed by smiling, happy, European backpackers."

"Annie allocated us a huge room with private balcony looking over the mountains. We used the sauna and it was amazing. The showers had a lovely pressure and the towels were very plush. The king sized bed was really comfortable and warm. The bar and restaurant had a fantastic and social vibe. We played cards, chess and drank beers while the sound system played upbeat music. The whole lodge has such a happy atmosphere. We had an incredible stay and would 100% book again. Highly recommend the breakfast option!"
