Chiseldon House Hotel

"Wonderful location and friendly staff; however, the way the property is maintained leaves a lot to be desired. First of all, cleanliness is quite poor. In one room we found mold inside the window frames; in another, a broken window pane; and there were numerous cobwebs throughout the house. The bathtubs are potentially dangerous due to the height difference between the floors, and the bathroom fixtures also show clear signs of age. The hairdryer is frankly ridiculous—it looks at least 30 years old. The food is underwhelming and nothing special; I would not recommend dining on site. We had high expectations, but they were all disappointed, and even the breakfast was not enjoyable. Our only thanks go to the staff, who were always attentive and helpful."

"The Churchill is ideally placed for a break in a journey on the M4 just off junction 16. The rooms are comfortable, the food is good, as is the beer. The friendly staff are the main asset of the Churchill. A very pleasant stay."

"We came here for a one night stay on our way back from Cornwall. We were staying in a room in the annexe which unfortunately had the view of a brick wall. The shower was fab and the bed firm and comfortable although my husband didn't like the pillows. We enjoyed our flat iron steak done as we liked it and felt the restaurant was very good although they were just about to change their menu and therefore not everything was available. However the breakfast was disappointing, the choice was good but my avocado and poached egg were only lukewarm and we failed to find any sauces for my husband's bacon bap (the staff seemed to disappear). Good timings for breakfast however and a leisurely checkout at 11am."

"This is one of the best Travelodge hotels I have stayed in in terms of customer experience. The team are so lovely and helpful - nothing is too much trouble - the rooms are clean and comfortable. I ate dinner and breakfast (the range of vegan options is really impressive) and it was all, in my opinion, great value for money. I don’t have cause to visit Swindon often, but if I find myself back this way in future I will definitely stay here again."
