Casa Verde B&B

Casa Verde B&B

📍 Potosi 374, Sucre
★★ 9.2 (24 reviews)

"Sucre is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and a virtue of the Casa Verde is its fidelity to the city’s colonial past — it has resisted temptations to the pursuit of luxury through unwarranted modernization. Yes, it has excellent Wi-Fi, which extends to the nicely planted courtyard patio (with a small swimming pool!), and the water in the smallish bathroom runs hot when you need it, but by and large the visitor is embraced by an ethos of sufficiency rather than excess. What the guest most appreciates about the premium Casa Verde places on sufficiency is in the room rate. For my room, which could sleep four (there was an upper-level loft with two twin beds), I paid 200 Bolivianos (US $28) a night. These were the prices I came to Bolivia for! Breakfast is served communally, at two long tables in the simple breakfast room. No fancy espresso coffees (which must have particularly disappointed the Italians who were the majority of guests during my 3-night August stay), but intensely brewed Bolivian beans made for sufficient wake-up before each day’s exploration. Casa Verde is located some four blocks “up” town from the central square of Sucre, so it is well within walking distance of nearly all the important sights and relevant restaurants in town. "

"Location is very good although services and breakfast are not varied, so I don't understand the one with 4 stars, since the service is generally from a 3-star hotel"

El Jardin de Su Merced B&B

"This is a gorgeous B&B not far from city center. We wished we could have spent more than one night here. The breakfast was homemade and the rooms very comfortable."

Hotel Boutique la Posada

📍 Audiencia 92, Sucre
★★★ 8.7 (17 reviews)

"Lovely place, few steps from the main square. Rooms are clean, well furnished, with comfortable bed, safety box. Wifi works just fine. The building itself is beautiful, so the breakfast room, and the breakfast offer, as well. We had a great time!"

Hotel Monasterio

Hotel Monasterio

📍 Calvo Nº 140, Sucre
★★★★ 8.4 (15 reviews)

"This hotel is a shame. We had a suite below the bar and opposite the bar's guest toilets. Impossible to sleep before 1am. The little gentleman at reception who speaks French lied to us when we asked him if it was a good room before going in. No apology and no refund when leaving and we were asked to leave because we started complaining! European travelers avoid this hotel."

Hotel Villa Antigua

Hotel Villa Antigua

📍 Frente al museo del Convento de Santa Clara, Calvo 237, Sucre
★★★★ 8.8 (18 reviews)

"Villa Antigua is very nice hotel located in the centre of Sucre. Built in the 18-sixties as a mansion, it was completely renovated in 2009. The hotel offers 21 rooms over 3 floors, and has a garden, a nice patio, a large top floor terracce, a gym & steambath, a breakfast restaurant, and a charming café. Free Wi-Fi. Staff is friendly and helpful. Our room was adequately furnished & decorated, with table & chair, TV & fridge, a high ceiling, wardrobe & safe, and a good queensize doublebed. We had a separate bathroom with toilet, washbasin & shower over the bath. The large window opens into the patio but has no mosquito screen. All was very clean. The buffet breakfast is good: bread, rolls & toast, ham & cheese, eggs made to order, butter & marmalade, fruit & juice, cereals, yoghurt & mineral water, tea & coffee. We found Vila Antigua comfortable and very quiet and we had a good stay. Good value-for-money. Highly recommended."

El Hotel de Su Merced ★★★
"The room was spacious and beautiful, furnished with vintage furniture. The entire hotel was lovely. The rooftop white terrace offered stunning views and was lush with greenery—perfect for taking photos. The service was also very attentive. The breakfast was simple but of excellent quality. If the Wi-Fi speed is slow, you can easily switch to another network. This was the best value hotel I booked in Bolivia."

Casa Verde B&B ★★
"What a gem of a find this place was. I arrived very early in the morning, after catching the overnight bus from La Paz. Luckily my room was ready, so they gave me immediate access to it. The room was spacious and had a delightful outlook onto the courtyard. The whole place was immaculate; the shower had plenty of hot water and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was good and plentiful. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Sucre is a wonderful city to visit and I'd highly recommend Casa Verde as a place to stay in this beautiful city."

El Jardin de Su Merced B&B ★★★
"This is simply one of the nicest places we have ever stayed. Airy, sunny rooms cooled by gentle breezes high above the city. Quiet private accommodations within a large well landscaped walled compound. Easily within walking distance of this delightful world heritage city. This is the epitome of a small boutique B & B. The hosts are lifetime sucre residents who make sure their guests are well cared for. Don’t hesitate to book this one. We spent 5 nights here and wish it had been longer!"

Parador Santa Maria la Real ★★★★
"The hotel interior, rooftop terrace, and basement rooms are beautiful and historic. Unfortunately, the rooms have issues. The smell when you first enter the room is that of chemicals- such as insect spray. The bathroom continually smells of sewer, but the intensity waxes and wanes. My doorknob was broken and the door only worked by the key. My safe was locked so I couldn’t use it. There was no way to heat or cool the room. My room was too hot. I could hear other guests talking until after midnight. My first morning the shower went from warm to completely cold while I had shampoo on my hair. To get hot water in the first place, I had to run the tap for nearly five minutes. In a city that is predicted to run out of water by 2050, this is criminal (install a hot water circulation system!). There was no lotion provided and only two towels. The hot tubs were empty; I was told you needed to schedule them. I saw three cardio machines but no yoga mat/stretching area. I did not sleep much; I couldn’t wait to leave."

"Super good service - staff Al-Always ready to help and most of them spoke English. Big room (room 331), great cozy garden and several nice sitting areas. Fantastic breakfast with a nice view. Dinner in the restaurant is also good. Nice bar (but only open a few days). A romantic hotel. Highly recommended."
