"Hostess & host were both very friendly & responsive. Everything was clean & comfortable. Guest had a shared tv room with several comfortable sofas. Breakfast was very good and generous. Ensuite had a very good shower and host cleaned every day and made beds. Great view above Stromness, across pasture with cows. Thank you!!"

"Three of us stayed here for one night in November, and the service was amazing even before we arrived. We were contacted just after booking to confirm arrangements and made aware that the restaurant was closed for evening meals, but breakfast (that was included, and delicious) was still available in the morning. We had a follow-up call to check everything was OK for arrival due to recent weather disruptions and ferry cancellations, and we also requested an iron for our rooms - we were also offered early check-in which was a great bonus. Both rooms were nicely decorated, comfortable and roomy. We would highly recommend staying here, and if we ever need a night in Stromness again, we would book here first."

📍 55-57 Victoria St, Stromness
★★★ 8.4 (50 reviews)

"We had room 16. Great views of Loch and Lewis Castle. Room was huge and had a great shower. Dinner was great in HS-1. Alacart is served in the main restaurant but we arrived too late to get an early booking. So book restaurant prior to arriving. Only 3 minutes away from the ferry it was extremely convenient. Highly recommended."

📍 The Pierhead, 15 Victoria St, Stromness
★★ 4.8 (41 reviews)

"Perfect location near ferry terminal in Stromness. Parking at the back, with access to the back of the hotel. Very friendly staff. The rooms ans corridors are a little dated, as with many Victorian hotels in the far north of Scotland. But amenities are good, with USB sockets as well as the usual 3 pin and shaver sockets. There was plenty of hot water with good pressure in the shower. I slept so well each of the 3 nights I spent there. It's got a slightly abandoned feel, again as it's a big old building built for grander times."

"The location is a 5 minute drive from Stromness. Dander & Cassie the hosts were helpful and friendly and couldn't do enough to help us. the accommodation had everything we needed, was comfortable, well equipped, with good wife and Netflix. We ate in one night but with town being so close we ate at the Ferry Inn too. Some great walks to be had around the town - I recccommend the coastal walk."

Lindisfarne Bed & Breakfast ★★★
"We arrived on a dark, rainy and windy night and it was so nice to have a place close to the ferry dock. Deborah was very welcoming and the room was spotlessly clean. We had a very comfortable night sleep and woke up to see cows just outside. Breakfast was delicious and generous. Deborah gave us some great recommendations beyond the typical Orkney site and our visit to Yesnaby ended up being one of our best trip memories. We loved meeting Deborah and wished we had stayed longer in her beautiful home."

"We stayed here 3 nights and it was a very pleasant experience. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Our room was tiny but cozy. The beds were comfortable and there was lots of hot water in the shower. The breakfast was very filling with fruit, yogurt, cereal and croissants on a buffet as well as a menu with cooked to order hot food. This inn is right across from the ferry terminal, so very convenient. The only negative aspect is that there is no elevator and the stairs are very steep and narrow. This was a problem for a few people in our group. However, all in all, I would definitely recommend this inn."

The Royal Hotel Stromness ★★★
"We stayed two nights at the hotel. We received a very helpful e-mail prior to arrival advising of check in arrangements, directions & places to eat. We had a very warm & friendly arrival and our room was excellent. It was spacious, spotlessly clean, comfortable beds & we had no issue with noise. Breakfast is served in a lovely dining room with lots of choice and a very good cooked breakfast. Chef & dining staff were very friendly and went above and beyond to help us. Wonderful hospitality. We will definitely be back and certainly will recommend the Royal Hotel to anyone visiting Stromness."

The Stromness Hotel by Paymán Club ★★
"With very little on offer in Stromness and much higher prices than across the ferry in mainland Scotland this was an ideal location right next to the ferry terminal in a historic building. I stayed in room 10 which was a smaller room at the back of the hotel and seems to have been forgotten. You can see wall partitions that this is not the original design of the room. There was an old carpet, old chair/wardrobe (not vintage). Door key is upside down, wardrobe hangers backwards, light bulb would hum. Bathroom was very Victorian with separate hot/cold taps. All of the windows are sealed shut. Only one plug outlet with an extension cord to run the tv and charge your phone. The tv kept freezing and pixilating until I got the guy at the front desk to fix the cables. Despite all that the hotel did grow on my. The dining room is prime location overlooking the harbour and is a good hot cooked buffet breakfast. When people checked out at 11am I looked in the other rooms at the front of the hotel which were much nicer than my room. Try to stay in those rooms instead of room 10."

"We stayed in this charming flat during our visit to Orkney and couldn’t have been happier with our choice. Situated on the outskirts of Stromness, it’s about a pleasant 20-minute walk into the heart of town. The property, part of a larger house, comes with the convenience of a private parking space right at the door. Inside, the flat was spotless, spacious, and thoughtfully equipped for a comfortable stay. The fully stocked American-style kitchen had everything we needed, from cutlery and cooking utensils to oil, tea, and instant coffee. The bathroom was well appointed, and the bedroom was nice and cosy. Reliable Wi-Fi covered the entire property."
