Naxos Palace Hotel ★★★★

"I stayed at this hotel with my family and some friends. The property is well-presented, and the rooms are arranged around the pools, both for adults and children. Breakfast offers a good selection, and the option of refilling bottles with drinking water is a great idea, thus avoiding having to buy it every day. It's a shame that everything else undermines the good things. Maintenance is completely lacking: the rooms are old, and mine even had a broken, very noisy bathroom door. Room cleanliness is poor: the wardrobe was full of dust; we could only use the hangers to hang up our clothes, while we had to leave the rest in our suitcases because the drawers were dirty. The refrigerator, located inside the closet instead of outside, didn't work and was also smelly, and we often ran out of toilet paper and had to go get it ourselves from reception. The breakfast service also leaves much to be desired: the staff just sit there staring at nothing. Yogurt and jam bowls were missing every day, and if we didn't point it out, they wouldn't bring them. The same goes for the cutlery. Considering the price, I wouldn't recommend it at all."

"when I booked my trip to Naxos I knew nothing about the island. I booked Naxos Rock Villas based on reviews and pictures online. We were not disappointed. The accommodation was exactly as pictured and we had a wonderful view of the port from our private patio and small plunge pool. I had thought we would get breakfast brought to us but in fact the fridge was stocked with everything we could want. Fruit, eggs yogurt honey etc and it suited us fine as we wanted to experience the wonderful lunches out.The bed was super comfortable too and we slept so well. John was our host and was so lovely, helping us arrange a car and even driving us to a beach restaurant when we arrived. For most of the stay though, his son Spyros was onsite and nothing was too much trouble. He ended up taking us to the ferry and even stopped at a bakery on the way! We loved our stay....the villa, the island, the people, the food and cannot wait to go back with our adult children....hopefully soon! "

Naxian Utopia | Luxury Villas & Suites ★★★★

"Unless you have a car, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. It’s about a 15 minute walk to the small beachfront town, which is the closest civilization. The walk is quite perilous during the daytime with no sidewalks or shoulder and speeding cars, trucks & buses. A 3 minute taxi ride to the beach town is 20 Euros each way. So $40 Euros just to get to & from the small town. The hotel abuts a water park which thankfully was closed for the season. But when it’s operational during the summer, I can’t imagine the noise from the traffic (dirt roads) and kids. Why would you choose to stay inland, looking at dirt and rocks, when you’re visiting an island? There are plenty of nice hotels near the water and in Naxos City. On the plus side, our spacious suite was nicely appointed and very clean and modern with a beachy vibe. (The private pool with our suite was a nice size, but not very private since the main pool was right above and people could and did look down to check us out and say Hi.) The staff was helpful and the breakfast buffet was good, with a really great coffee machine."

"Stayed in a 2 bedroom suit, with a kitchenette and private pool. The view is amazing, the rooms are clean and the overall location is not too far from town, about 7 minutes by car. You must have a car to stay here, since it’s not accessible by public transportation. The kitchen is well appointed, but coffeemaker was not working well, breakfast was not included, very unusual in Greece. Some of the negatives, the toiletries were quite bad quality, for the price of the room, as well as the towels and the sheets, they were stiff and rough. Because the rooms are perched against the mountain the rooms smell moldy, and are humid. The smell is particularly strong in the drawers under the sink. Administration only contacted us once during the 5 days. There is no breakfast included so make plans to go grocery shopping. There is a well stocked grocery 5 min away. You will need a car to get here."

"Was a nice stay but could definitely be improved. We found the room a bit dirty and run down. The staff sometimes were not the friendliest as well - nobody really chatted to us or asked us any questions. Felt a bit uncomfortable at times."
