Smithfield

Smithfield|3.37km from downtown
Unfortunately I had a last minute travel date change so I couldn't get a room where I originally wanted to. Everything in the area was sold out. This felt like my only option within a reasonable distance of where I had to be the next day (within 10 minutes - wasn't yet familiar with area). I pulled into the parking lot and got such a bad feeling that I started calling other places to see if they had a last minute cancellation. After trying that I had to go in. It's very outdated. I was traveling alone and didn't feel safe getting out of my car. It's not like a city setting or anything, but the hotel is in a lot that is down a drive into the woods, sort of, so getting out in the dark alone felt sketchy. My room didn't smell good. Coffee in morning was terrible. Front desk was nice enough but nothing special. Everything was probably fresh in the late 80s-90s judgining by the decor and I'm assuming they get along fine because other places sell out like my experience. When I went to where I was going in the morning I met 2 men traveling together that also called around once they arrived before checking in. They stayed at the ******, I hadn't even thought of that. A woman I met also did the same thing and settled like I did, though she had to switch rooms. I'm not a 5 star hotel guest or anything, but this place is like an enclosed version of those strip types of hotels that you look at and go, do druggies reside there? I'm sorry - if you don't care about any of this, go out for a few beverages, and pass out here - you're probably fine.

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Smithfield - Providence

I’m now convinced Employees WRITE GOOD REVIEWS for guest to stay here. It’s OBVIOUS the owner of this Franchised hotel DONT care about this hotel. They don’t honor IHG REWARDS. First of all the hotel furniture is extremely old and there’s many stains on the carpet. There was also stains on the sheets. The bathroom door is too big for the tiny bathroom which make it difficult to take a shower. The air conditioner cover was broke. Breakfast was from 6:30-9:30. My husband and I came down to breakfast at 8:00. The breakfast options was limited and they had also ran out of most of the food. I wonder was it because the staff/ housekeeping ate most of the food for the guest. I asked the woman in the kitchen was she replacing anything but she said no. The front desk staff was unfriendly as well as the woman in the kitchen. She could barely speak English however she knew how to say NO! I knew it was the staff eating because they were in uniform. We stayed there one night and had to go to a better hotel.

Hampton Inn & Suites Providence/Smithfield

I had the most dissatisfying stay recently at the Hampton Inn in Smithfield RI. This was a one night local getaway for me to have a little alone time, to get some work done, and to relax. I have often stayed at Hiltons but not at the particular location. Right off the bat I found the desk person to be grumpy, short with me, and unfriendly, Not to mention that when I arrived I had to wait for him at the desk as he was outside, Once settled in my room the wifi was inaccessible. I tried several times and there just wasn't a strong enough signal for my computer to hook in. Not only was this disappointing but it didn't allow me to get the work done that I had planned on doing. The room above me sounded like a bowling alley all night long so sleep wasn't possible. In the morning the tv no longer worked, Seemed to possible be a bug with the clocks falling behind or something. Then, when leaving, there wasn't even anyone at the desk to speak with - just a box to put in your plastic room key for disinfecting. All in all it was a very disappointing stay and I won't be returning,
