Scenic Hotels in Daming

"I didn't want to go to crowded places during the National Day holiday, so I chose Handan, a place about a 3-hour drive from Jinan. To have more daytime sightseeing time, I scheduled my driving time for the evening. However, not wanting to stay out too late, I split the 3-hour drive into 2+1 hours, leaving the last hour for the next morning. I drove to Daming County in the evening. When choosing a hotel, I didn't pay much attention to details; I just wanted something with breakfast, one large and one small bed, and a reasonable price. Location wasn't a concern since I was driving. When I arrived, I discovered the hotel was right next to Daming Ancient City. 1. Location: I don't know how big Daming County is, since I was only staying one night, but the hotel's location was excellent! It was just over 100 meters west of the North Gate of Daming Ancient City, the most famous attraction in Daming. Before 10 pm, the area downstairs was full of stalls selling all kinds of snacks. There were even more vendors inside the ancient city area. There was also a Huangzhuang mooncake shop within 300 meters, which I really liked for an average price of 2 yuan. 2. Amenities: Although located near tourist attractions, the hotel has a lively atmosphere, with convenience stores, pharmacies, banks, and other amenities readily available. Breakfast is provided, though the selection isn't extensive, there are no rations, and unlimited braised eggs, though they are a bit cold. Condiments include four types of pickled vegetables: winter melon, cucumber, and pickled vegetables. The main dishes are plentiful: edamame, steamed sweet potatoes, steamed buns, twisted rolls, and wrinkled fried dough sticks. Fruits include oranges and small hawthorns. The fried dough sticks with pickled vegetables are alright, and there's no extra charge for children. 3. Facilities: The hotel is relatively new. While it's generally considered a budget hotel, it's above average in many aspects: the lobby has its own design and aesthetic, the corridors are wide and deep (leading to a very long walk to the innermost room), and the carpet provided considerable resistance to the suitcase wheels... The room was very spacious, definitely 40-50 square meters, and even the bathroom was roomy enough. We could easily unfold two large suitcases and spread out our belongings without feeling cramped. There was even a table for the kids to do their homework! Parking was downstairs and free, but because it's close to Daming Ancient City, parking was quite limited during the day. When we arrived around 9 pm, there were only two or three spots available, but they became available after the crowds dispersed late at night. 4. Price: During the National Day holiday, a family room (1.2m bed price is the same as 1.8m bed) was 165 yuan. Being near the tourist attractions and including breakfast for the whole family, it was really a good deal. However, I also noticed that hotel prices have been rising significantly in the past two years. A few years ago, if you booked in advance during holidays, you could find hotels of the same standard in Guangzhou and Hangzhou for just over 100 yuan."

"① Parking issue: Reviews indicated road construction at the entrance, so I inquired about parking. The reply was that I could drive through the sidewalk to the underground parking lot. However, upon arrival, I found many electric tricycles blocking the sidewalk, forcing me to park in roadside spaces. I ordered takeout, but the delivery person said they couldn't bring it upstairs and would deliver it from the lobby later. After waiting a long time, I went downstairs to pick it up myself. Apparently, the robot was ”resting.” Fine, I'll bring it up myself. Later, I ordered takeout, and the robot delivered it quickly. ② Soundproofing issue: Around midnight, there was a ”bedtime” sound, thankfully brief, indicating some soundproofing problems. Immediately afterwards, there was a low-frequency resonance, likely from large construction machinery outside. This also didn't last long. Around 7 AM, there was another low-frequency resonance from the machinery. The impact wasn't significant, as the central air conditioning vents masked it somewhat. ③ I suggest adding a tissue box and trash can to the bathroom sink. ④ The room had eight bottles of water, which is better than Yato. ⑤ I brought my own breakfast, but the price wasn't great, so I bought another one from Taobao. ⑥ It's quite close to Daming Ancient Town; you can walk there. ⑦ Overall service was okay, but some staff members weren't very enthusiastic. Smoking was allowed in the lobby, and when I saw it, the staff didn't do anything about it. ⑧ Breakfast is from 7 am to 10 am, which is more considerate than many hotels that close at 9 am. The variety of dishes was limited, but sufficient, and each dish was above average, so overall it was good. The coffee was freshly ground, and there was soy milk, milk, apple juice, and oat milk. However, when I went to get milk, they were out. The staff cleared away the dishes quickly, and there was no wait. There was freshly cooked he luo noodles and wontons. The he luo noodles were different from those in Shanxi; they were made with buckwheat noodles, probably with more wheat flour, so the texture was very good and not rough. The salad greens were also quite fresh. The cherry tomatoes were a bit overripe, and the grapefruits were a little bitter, but everything else was fine. There were no desserts or bread, but I don't expect many hotels to have such low-quality bread and desserts; I personally prefer quality over quantity. Overall, the facilities were better than the hotels I stayed at in downtown Handan; it was much more conscientious."

"First stop on my Handan trip was Daming County, and I chose this hotel. It's not too far from Song Street and Daming Ancient City. The hotel faces Xie Shan Lake Park, so you can enjoy lake views from your room, and the night scenery is also beautiful. You can even climb Xie Shan to catch the sunset. There's both ground and underground parking, which is convenient and free."

"Bringing parents to Daming to play, staying at this hotel for two days, walking to Damingfu, and the night market are very convenient. The door is repairing the road, so it is not convenient to drive in and out, a bit narrow. The staff is quite enthusiastic, Daming is a good place, I will come again in the future."
