"This was a last-minute stop in our itinerary and therefore I did not have especially high expectations. This B and B was much much nicer than what I expected. The host is a lovely man who is very helpful. The room was spacious, modern, functional, and clean. The host was very nice and served us an excellent and customized breakfast. The location is great: 2 minutes from the beach but also 2 minutes from the town where we discovered very nice bars and restaurants. I highly recommend it!"

"I would give this hotel a maximum of three stars. The hotel grounds and surroundings look as if time has stood still, and the Village section resembles an old, run-down hospital rather than a holiday resort. However, the room itself was nice. The food was average but repetitive. Breakfast was particularly disappointing, with very limited variety and pretty much the same options every day. What really saved the holiday was the beautiful beach and the wonderfully clean, calm sea. Overall, this hotel may be satisfactory for less demanding guests, but it could definitely use some improvements."

"Scalea is a beautiful town, with lots to offer. We were there for the beaches, exploring the hill towns, and enjoying the ambiance of Scalea itself. Our home base for 5 nights was the B&B Torre Talao. We felt both cared for and pampered by our host Vittorio. Our room was immaculate and had a very comfortable bed and great pillows too. The air conditioning unit worked flawlessly, although we didn’t need it everyday, as the weather was gorgeous all week. We could leave the door to our balcony open at times during the day as the October weather has no insects to intrude across the street from the ocean where the inn sits. Each morning we were treated to a sumptuous breakfast and delicious cappuccino outside on the balcony of the dining area. I mean a real full breakfast of eggs, bacon, prosciutto, Calabrian cheese and breads. All of this being served by Vittorio and his staff. He was helpful for all of our questions for enjoying Scalea. For example, he knows the best restaurants and has contacts at all of them. Each day he inquired as to how we were doing, making sure we had slept well and had no issues at all. We never did. For us, our time there was special. We actually extended our stay a couple of extra nights, as we had the best time of our Italian vacation there."
