Hotel Oosado ★★★★

📍 288-2 Aikawa Kabuse, Sado

"The open-air bath facing the sea offered amazing views, and the room's location was superb. We really enjoyed the free night tour and piano performance, and the starry sky was beautiful. The breakfast buffet had a fantastic selection of Sado local dishes and sashimi, all of which were delicious. We were absolutely delighted with this hotel!"

Kanazawaya Ryokan

Kanazawaya Ryokan ★★

📍 263-2 Ryotsuminato, Sado

"The place is not too far from the port, it's good, classic and clean. Ojisan and Obasan there are very friendly, they carried our luggages to our room, lend us umbrellas, speaking English fluently too. Hot bath there is hot and large, room big and futons are comfortable. We stay for 2 nights and they gave us bigger room at the second night. When we leave, they send us to the port by car too."

Yahatakan
8.9 (20 reviews)

Yahatakan ★★★

📍 2043 Yahata, Sado

"The hot spring was absolutely wonderful. The water felt so smooth on my skin, and the spacious tub made for a truly relaxing bath. Our room was also very spacious and comfortable. We had a breakfast-only plan, and we thoroughly enjoyed local specialties like Igoneri and squid sashimi! The staff's smiles were also a nice touch. If we have the chance again, we would definitely like to stay here."

Aokiya

Aokiya ★★★

📍 685 Harakuro, Sado

"The facilities are old, but I think it's worth the price. There's no open-air bath, but it's a hot spring, so I think it's fine. For dinner, they served a whole crab, which was great. However, everyone was silent while eating the crab! Unfortunately, we couldn't see the sunset over Lake Kamo, but it was nice and quiet. The elevator is quite old. I worry about how many more years they can stay in business..."

📍 58 Aikawa Orito Hamamachi, Sado

"We booked an Ocean View Japanese Style Room The ocean view is fantastic. Breakfast & dinner included, good food. Public Onsen offers both indoor & outdoor A show in the lobby & there is a shuttle bus to Kitazawa flotation plant after the show. Excellent arrangement for the guests."

Nipponia Sado Aikawa Gold Mining Town
9.0 (2 reviews)

Nipponia Sado Aikawa Gold Mining Town ★★★★

📍 23 Aikawa Nichome, Sado

"It was a very interesting experience. The rooms are scattered throughout Aikawa Old Town, so I recommend staying at the main building for convenience. The building itself is a century-old house. Sado Island is very beautiful, and the sea view of Oo-Turtle at the northern end of the island is amazing!!"

Tabino Hotel Sado ★★★
"It was my first time using the hotel and I stayed for 2 nights, and the staff, including the front desk staff, greeted me well and was very helpful. There is also a large public bath where you can relax. I went to Sawada and Ryotsu in a rental car, and it was quiet at night and I slept soundly. At breakfast, we also enjoyed local foods such as rice and rice cakes. This is a hotel I would like to stay at again."

Hotel Oosado ★★★★
"We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for your exceptional kindness and support. Yesterday, we were unfortunately involved in a car accident. The hotel was very understanding and kindly allowed us to reschedule our stay to another day. We were deeply touched by your flexibility and consideration. Today, we experienced another accident in the mountains. During this difficult time, one the staff was incredibly kind and supportive. She helped us communicate and translate with the police, ensuring that we could clearly explain the situation and receive assistance. Her help was truly invaluable in getting us safely rescued. In addition, the hotel manager and staffs generously drove us from the police station back to the hotel and assisted us with the necessary follow-up arrangements. Their patience, compassion, and willingness to go above and beyond their duties meant so much to us. We are truly grateful for the care and support we received. It has been a blessing to be guests at Oosado Hotel, and we will always remember your kindness."

Kanazawaya Ryokan ★★
"Staying at Ryokan Kanazawaya in Sado was an absolutely exceptional experience. From the moment we arrived, we were transported to another time, immersed in the captivating atmosphere, beautifully preserved and steeped in history. Every detail of the ryokan exudes traditional elegance: the impeccable tatami mats, the antique woodwork, the subdued lighting... A true journey to the Japan of yesteryear, with a rare refinement. The atmosphere is serene, almost timeless, ideal for disconnecting and letting yourself be carried away by the beauty of the place. The owner, exquisitely kind and refined, perfectly embodies the spirit of Japanese hospitality. Warm and attentive, she attends to every detail to make you feel privileged and deeply welcomed. Her love for the house and its history is palpable, and she shares it with grace. This ryokan is more than just accommodation: it's a unique immersion into Japanese culture, a moment we'll never forget. A rare gem, we wholeheartedly recommend to anyone looking for an authentic and unforgettable experience in Kanazawaya!"

"It's a facility that I'm sure was bustling with tourists in the past. 😱 The staff are working hard, but to save on costs, the hallway lights are turned off and the air conditioning isn't on, so it still feels a bit rundown. I received amenities all three days, but I thought they were a waste. Maybe it's time to think about what you need and what you don't?"

Aokiya ★★★
"The building was a bit old, and the interior seemed old and not very clean. However, the location was fantastic. I wouldn't recommend it to those looking for a clean hotel. The hot spring water was lukewarm and very pleasant. It's located right in the middle of Sado Island, so it was convenient for getting around the island by car."

"The owner was very friendly and kind. The recommended spots in the surrounding area were also carefully taught while looking at the map, which was very helpful. The arrival was delayed than planned, but I was relieved to welcome you. The washroom and dressing room are shared, but they are kept clean and I didn't particularly care. The cat was also very friendly and cute, and it was a healing during my stay. It is a nice inn that I want to use again."

Hotel Mancho ★★★
"Thank you for staying with me for three nights and four days. The food was very delicious and I was full. The bath was open from 15:00 to 10:00 the next day, so I was able to enjoy it for a long time. As for the night activities, we enjoyed seeing the Sado Gold Mine light up and dancing such as Sado Okesa. Thank you a lot for your hospitality!"

Nipponia Sado Aikawa Gold Mining Town ★★★★
"Due to the long weekend, all the major inns were fully booked, so we stayed at this inn, which happened to have a vacancy at a good time, without any prior knowledge. When we arrived, we found that it was a decentralized hotel, which is a hot topic these days, and we decided to rent a building a little away from the building where the reception was! This building is a valuable historical building in the Aikawa area, and although it is old, it has been beautifully renovated, and the fluffy Simmons beds were extremely comfortable. What is particularly noteworthy about this inn is that it is integrated with the local community, allowing you to enjoy the charm of Sado throughout the town. We were introduced to many of the charms of Sado that we would have missed if we had not stayed here, and we felt as if we were living there. We were also impressed by the president's meticulous attention to detail and the warmth of the people of Sado. The rice balls at breakfast were also delicious. They just opened in August, so operations should improve from now on! If you go to Sado, we recommend this inn."
