"An excellent 'home from home' stay and a great location. It's a short walk to the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway. A warm friendly welcome on arrival and we were shown immediately to our room. Our room (No6) has a great view and is spacious and bright. The bed was comfortable as were the pillows. Tea & Coffee making facilities along with biscuits were appreciated. The ensuite bathroom was spacious too and had complimentary toiletries. The breakfast was lovely, so many choices to pick and the portions were generous. A great place to stay!!"

My trip was for business and although there is no cell signal at the house there is internet and to be honest, having no cell is a godsend. This is a perfect venue for a romantic getaway with your partner, long quiet walks in the woods, or pop to Pickering for a look around town."

"Pickering is a nice town. We took the steam train here and stayed there for one night. This hotel is similar to a family hotel, the environment is acceptable, but the services are basically non-existent. Breakfast includes two breakfasts, but an extra child has to buy it separately. Cold meals are 10 pounds and hot meals are 16 pounds. We say that the two adults who include breakfast will order hot meals, and the additional child will order cold meals. The waiter said that adults can order whatever they want on the menu and there is no quantity limit. We ordered several dishes in total, thinking they were all single items, but it turned out that each dish came with a side dish. We saw that we couldn't finish it and asked them to leave it. Don't serve the food that was served. At the end of the bill, they told us that we ordered more than two hot meals, and since the dishes that were not served would be counted, the children's portions must also be charged as hot meals. The argument failed, and they didn't listen to the explanation at all. And what's even more outrageous is that when we ordered, we clearly said that our children wanted cold meals, and we ordered more than three people. Why didn't the waiter remind us? ! The service is terrible!"

"The Old Manse is a great little find. Just off the main road so any easy stroll to the shops, pubs etc. We were given a warm welcome and our room was on the top floor so we had a lovely outlook. The room was large with a beautiful feature bed. Everything we needed was provided and the room.and bathroom were clean and comfortable. Breakfast had a full range of items on the menu. I had the vegetarian breakfast and it was very tasty. Bonus...they make a great pot of tea! The staff were all very friendly and its all topped off with ample parking."

"Absolutely terrible service Room was dirty, bathroom toilet had urine all over it. It was disgusting I felt really uncomfortable with sleeping there. The staff are rude and disinterested in their customers needs. Booked the restaurant then we got told we had missed our slot because we were late but the lady who had booked our table told us between 630 and 7pm we arrived at 6.55 and got told we had missed it. We got told me need to wait until 8pm but I said its to late for the children and her response was i can give you a list of takeaways. DONT STAY HERE."
