"They helped us alot when our car battery couldnt start. It was a wonderful stay with them. They have a convenient store if you are looking for snacks and drinks. I highly recommend if you are looking for something to enjoy with your family because it is a homely homestay with amazing views. The food were especially delicious. The service is impeccable. A great getaway from urban cities to be in the nature. This homestay is also near to Papa Eatery which serves amazing pizzas if you crave for western food after having all the delicious thai food."

"The staff were helpful and provided good service; they even replaced a faulty hairdryer. The view was great, and despite the strong winds during the rainy season, the atmosphere was pleasant. However, the bed wasn't very clean – there was dust and gecko droppings. Even with the lights off, insects would crawl onto the bed. I couldn't sleep soundly all night due to itching, possibly exacerbated by the rainy season. We booked two rooms, but the water heater in one of them wasn't working. We informed the staff, but it was never repaired. Rooms should be thoroughly inspected for cleanliness and readiness before guests check in."

"It was indeed a leap of faith for me to book 3 Selena Villa rooms for 6 adults in my family. There wasn't any past reviews on Tripadvisor (My honour to be the first) but gauging from the photos on their website, we took a chance and was definitely glad we did. It simply surpassed all our expectations! The hotel (Joe) kindly arranged a van transfer for us from Chiangrai Airport (and also subsequently onwards to Chiangmai). The ride took just over 1 hour and road conditions were good. Some roads in Doi Chang were narrow but they did not pose any issue. The hotel (with individual chalet huts) were beautifully designed with ample privacy, lovely interiors which were very clean and well maintained (looked so new). The bathroom was even equipped with a Japanese style warm toilet seat with bidet and the room had a Dyson hairdryer too. Bathtubs are within the bathroom next to a full height glass window which offered gorgeous views of the outdoor hills. For some units, the bath tubs are situated outdoor in the balcony area. We were all mesmerized by the captivating green environment and natural hill setting. We could hear birds chirping outside in the morning. For breakfast, it was a delightful spread (both Western and Thai) and in the afternoon, a lovely high tea with pastries was set up within the room. There were 5 choices for dinner (hot pots or BBQ) with ample meat and vegetables, eaten in the open area with a setting sun backdrop. This was indeed a wonderful experience. Marshmallow toasting at campfire pit can be arranged too. All 3 meals are included in what we paid for our stay. The hotel has a car service to transport us to Yayo Coffee Cafe (owned by a co-owner of this hotel) or any other nearby places. The cafe owner gave us a demo on how to brew special coffee and explained how the beans were dried and aged in the plantation. It is a beautiful modern cafe also with fantastic views and we had complimentary coffee drinks there. We also visited the macademia farm nearby. We stayed from 2024 through to 2025 and witnessed some sporadic fireworks. Thanks to all the staff at Bala Villa for their wonderful service making our stay a memorable and comfortable one! I highly recommend Bala Villas to anyone who plans to visit Chiangrai Doi Chang."
