The location of the homestay is good, it is very suitable for self-driving. The boss greeted us very enthusiastically. The top floor rooftop can watch the sunrise 🌅, which is slightly blocked. The sea of clouds is beautiful and it is worth coming. There are several varieties of breakfast, all delicious 😋, it can be seen that the boss is operating carefully. Like 👍

Guest UserExceeded all my expectations of a boutique homestay with only six rooms . Ultra luxury linens and beddings , ,Panasonic view of sea clouds at the confer of your bath tub , tasteful contemporary chinese interiors , and to top it all , run by a simple humble couple who goes to ends to make your stay a comfortable one . When you stay for 3 nights or more , they cook up a storm of local delicacies for your dinner , on top of daily breakfast! Do be prepared breakfasts are local style . Bit there’s a great cafe nearby service Arabica yunna beans and it’s become one of my fave !
Def great value for money !

Guest UserThe owner was incredibly kind and provided excellent service. The newly opened guesthouse was clean and hygienic, and the room even had gardenias, which smelled wonderful. The bed was very comfortable, and breakfast was served the next day. You can also have tea with the owner on the third floor. We are very grateful to the owner; they even helped us with transportation to Nuogan Ancient Village, even though we didn't drive ourselves. Highly recommended! Wishing the owner booming business!

TuotuotuodetuoThe photos were taken during the holidays in the village and at home. This is Captain Lao Dabao's home, also the chairman of Lao Dabao Entertainment Company. He's super nice!
It's very busy, with lots of guests every day, but the chairman is always very kind and even cooks for us himself.
The room was really clean! Although it's an inn, it was very comfortable. We slept in a triple room, which Zhang Yuqi and her friends from Sister Lang had also stayed in before! Hahaha, I've finally stayed in a hotel with celebrities.

JohnnyRWe had the most wonderful experience at this family-run homestay. The hosts are the heart of the place—warm, genuine, and incredibly helpful with local tips. A highlight was tasting and purchasing their own exquisite tea, harvested from the ancient tea forests. Practicality meets comfort: the location is great, parking is easy and spacious, and our room was spotlessly clean with a wonderfully cozy bed. Highly recommended for an authentic and relaxing stay.

Cost-saving version: Great! Excellent!
More detailed version: I stayed at this guesthouse for three nights and had a fantastic experience. The guesthouse is very new, located near the entrance of the village, making it very convenient to get in and out. It's just steps away from the village's viewing platform. The interior facilities are complete, and the view from the room window is superb, with a wide-open vista and a view of the sea of clouds. The owner is a young man, a mild-mannered but very nice person, constantly inviting everyone to drink tea (lol). Every night, they would roast corn over a fire outside the guesthouse, very peaceful and comfortable.
It's a bit long, but it's all a spontaneous five-star review! I'll definitely stay at Jin Gu La again next time! (Thumbs up)

KeaikelederenerI rarely write accommodation reviews, but this time I really want to give a shout-out 😊 Our stay at Guesthouse No. 56 in Wengji Ancient Village was exceptionally comfortable! The room was clean and tidy, the bedding was soft, and the view from the window was breathtaking – endless tea plantations and a sea of clouds. The owners, a husband and wife, are the same age as us and we had a lot to talk about. They sell tea and run a guesthouse, and even during the busy Chinese New Year period, they drove us around the sights for free, saving us the trouble of not knowing the roads and finding parking! They invited us to drink tea and chat, sharing our lives and experiencing authentic Bulang ethnic life. Although there was no breakfast, there were small shops nearby, which was very convenient. Wengji Ancient Village was our favorite of all the villages we visited in Jingmai Mountain, and I sincerely hope that no matter how long it goes on, it can maintain its simple and honest folk customs and touching scenery, and not be eroded by commercialization!

All the reviews are true, but it’s not the wooden building that causes it.
Yes, it is very loud and you hear everyone. We’ve stayed in other fully wooden places, it’s worse here. Maybe not the wood but the guests are the problem. Loud Chinese people, walking the stairs with the heaviest pace you can imagine. Maybe help the other guests by hanging some warnings on the stairs: please be mindful for the other guests when walking to your room.
Also loud Chinese tourist on the square below. Not only while eating they scream all over the place, also with the tea ceremony nobody asks them to please stop talking after 23:00/24:00. We were up till 02:00AM because of tea drinking Chinese people at the fire. We stayed in the suite, which is located above the fire pit. Maybe the other rooms are less noisy. At 7AM each morning, somebody ran down the stairs. We think it’s the staff. It wakes you up through your earplugs.
The staff is OK. They are very shy, not rude. They could be more pro active though as we didn’t feel like they wanted to do something.. which is different to rude but also not very friendly.
The other villages around are way bigger and less cozy than Wengji. Also, with this guesthouse being just next to the town, it was perfect to escape the tourists most of the time. We didn’t find other accommodations in Wengji with the same aesthetics as Shishi guesthouse so we can’t recommend other places better than this.
Maybe if the guesthouse would invest in trying to keep the noise down under the various guests, with text signs or with clearer house rules (fire pit), the noise problem wouldn’t be as bad.
Maybe if they tried to enthusiast their staff more and keep them from watching Chinese drama shows on their phones all day, they would be a bit more welcoming.
We’ve met a lot of amazing people in Wengji, it’s definitely not the locals that have this behaviour.
Lastly, the suite has a cubicle bathroom in the room, they really don’t clean this well. It smells very bad and just feels dirty all over.
For comfort this place is too expensive, for the location and aesthetics you won’t find better options nearby.
