The George Hotel
"Stayed at the hotel a few times but this is the first time we have paid for parking which I thought was slightly unfair for staying guests. Good price which included breakfast but room was small and the window had frosted glass so we couldn’t see out, but facilities clean and adequate. Always stay as a stopover on the way to a Scotland."
YHA Helvellyn
"My first experience staying at a hostel and just wanted to say that the two night stay was superb. As a solo traveller the Team were friendly and helpful and made me feel at ease Food was good and wholesome also reasonably priced. Showers and toilets were clean, the drying room helpful following my charity Ullswater kayak for New Life ( sick and premature babies) The only negative was the limited electrical sockets in the room near the beds. The track is just that, uneven and a few potholes. Just need to drive very slow. I will certainly return. Thank you. Jeanette"
North Lakes Hotel and Spa
"Hotel is lovely, public areas and bedrooms are excellent quality. Staff are helpful. Apart from another resident had charged their drinks bill to my room and the staff asked me for proof I hadn’t ordered the drinks which seemed inappropriate and delayed my check in. Spa access is not included in price, costs an additional £15 for 24 hrs. The facilities are excellent though, the best gym I’ve seen in a hotel. Penrith is lovely. Definitely recommend."
Troutbeck Inn
"Excellent staff.. had a evening meal food was very tasty ... room was very nicely decorated with a comfy bed .. had a cooked breakfast then got talking to the owners before we left ... couldn't do enough for us"
Norcroft Guest House Vegetarian B&B.
"It is within walking distance to the train station and the center of the town. The room is very clean. Breakfast will be delivered to the room at the agreed time. There are several ways to choose eggs. I chose fried eggs and hot oatmeal, which is very suitable for Chinese stomachs. There are direct buses to Windermere and Keswich."
Travelodge Penrith
"Gianni was a great help and managed to sort our room booking out. Very helpful chap who went above and beyond"
The Pooley Bridge Inn
"Lovely place fab atmosphere and great breakfast to finish with"

"Love places with friendly staff and really good breakfast. We definitely will back soon. Thank you 😊"
Abbey House B & B
"We had a lovely one night stay at Abbey House. The rooms were charming and warm, with many thoughtful touches. The bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean. We had a delicious full breakfast before we headed off, and a lovely chat with Vicky our host. We were so pleased with our stay - hopefully we can come back again one day :)"
Lane Head Farm Country Guest House
"We arrived Friday to celebrate my dad’s 80th Birthday we were welcomed very warmly by Suruchi and her son . We had 3 rooms and I must say they were all very comfortable and spotlessly clean . The beds are so comfortable and we all had a great nights sleep . Nothing is too much trouble and Suruchi is an amazing host she even invited our Dad to join us for her lovely breakfast for the duration of our stay . The cosy lounge and the log fire was so nice . The shower and bathrooms are lovely too very clean with lovely white fluffy towels . The gardens and scenery is absolutely stunning . There is also a hot tub but sadly we didn’t get time to use it (Hopefully next time ) I would highly recommend staying here and will definitely be returning. Can’t thank you enough we had an amazing time . Thank you again x"
The White House Guest House
"I have been travelling to Scotland every year for 20 years and this is the best value and most welcoming B&B that I have found on route from the South. Prue is a wonderful host. Perfect for humans as well."
Beautifully appointed cottage in extensive grounds
The Lounge Hotel & Bar
"The room is quite large and the whole layout is very warm and comfortable. The bathroom is also in our favorite style, and the heating in the room can be adjusted automatically. The breakfast was very good, and the waiter was very friendly. The transportation is convenient and fast because it is in the town center. We will visit this store again."
George and Dragon Clifton
"The room was freezing! The heating only came on for a couple of hours. The room was ok comfy bedding, not worth £175 though. The shower made a squealing noise and the bath tap dripped all night. Breakfast alright (beans were cold). The staff at the bar and restaurant were commendable."
The Shepherds Inn
"Stopped in for a bite to eat & was not disappointed. It’s a lovely place with friendly staff & fantastic food but be warned the portion size is very generous, reasonably priced would definitely recommend."
Cross Keys Inn
"This is the second time we stayed here…..in our campervan in the rear carpark. Food again was really good, lovely open fire, dog friendly and the locals were friendly too. This place still has character of a proper pub and is really cosy too. Many thanks again."
The Annex - Eden House
Macdonald Leeming House
"Suitable for self-driving tours, other ways to come over is more troublesome, the room may be close to the woods, some small flying insects in the room."
Glendale Guest House
"Top notch B&B - stayed there in June 2023 as part of a group cycling the C2C route. I recall that we had 3 twin rooms and 2 singles. All very comfortable and quite spacious. My twin was good and the en-suite shower was particularly appreciated after a hard day's cycling from Workington. Great breakfast in a very elegant front room with high ceilings and a very large bay window. Also the Glendale has a secure bike shed at the back, which took all 8 of our bikes. Good location for food and drink in the centre of Penrith - 5 minutes walk away. I don't normally eat pizza, but I must say that Villa Bianca makes some of the best one's in the area."
The Kings Arms Temple Sowerby
"Perfect place to stop on a long journey. Warm welcome, fabulous room with very comfortable bed and extremely clean. Meal was excellent and lovely atmosphere in the bar/dining area. Thoroughly recommend."
The Crown Inn Pooley Bridge
The Brantwood Hotel
"The good! Lovely pub/hotel with lots of character. Wood burner in bar very welcoming on a cold evening! Excellent quality breakfast. Interesting menu but didn’t stay for a meal. The ‘not so good’! No receptionist so reliant on bar/kitchen staff for check in/out. Bar was crowded on arrival and we were ignored until I fought through the throng to get the attention of the bar staff. The room was delightful (Room 2) except it was stone cold with no heating on….. the barman rectified the situation (at 1815) but on returning to the room the heating was off again at 2100! Heating stayed off overnight and had to ring the night manager number to ask for it to be put on in the morning. The bed was a great size but the mattress was hard and bumpy!"
