The George Hotel
"Great little spot in the centre of town, old fashioned and nicely upkept."
YHA Helvellyn
"We went on a Family hike from Glenridding up to Helvellyn and back down to YHA Helvellyn where we had booked a night. It was very quick and easy to book in, the woman at reception was extremely friendly. We used the fully functioning kitchen (we were lazy and cooked frozen pizza) where somepeole where making full blown meals. We spent some time in the bar area playing chess and having a drink. Alcohol is available including a local Ale. The showers were warm and powerful, there are four showers on the bottom floor, easy to access from the rooms. The room (21) was right next to the toilets, a four person room. Was clean and bright - perfect for the night. The only thing I didnt enjoy was the temperature of the room, it was too hot fir me. I didnt use the bedding as it was far too thick but I am generally a hot person. Overall, excellent value for money at the foothills of one of lake districts most iconic mountains. Definately recommend if your within the area."
North Lakes Hotel and Spa
"Great stay! 10 mins walk from the station! Definitely recommended"
Troutbeck Inn
"Really enjoyed my stay in Room 5 of this inn. There was ample parking for guests. The room was cosy and clean. I especially loved the breakfast menu at this inn. Every night, you can fill up a form with your selection and in the morning, you just walk up to your assigned table and breakfast is served!"
Norcroft Guest House Vegetarian B&B.
"The guide was friendly and gave excellent guidance. The village was also very beautiful."
Travelodge Penrith
"Helpful staff and clean room , Ken and Jasmin were very friendly as I’d arrived at 1 am after work"

Brooklands Guest House
"BEAUTIFUL! We had a lovely little stay here such a stunning guest house. The decor is something else found myself walking around fascinated by all the historical items. Sue is very kind and helpful and made us feel at home. I love the attention to detail here, water in fridge, biscuits, even umbrellas at front door. The rooms are beautiful and quirky and such comfy beds. Breakfast was very tasty all home cooked to perfection. Area was lovely and quiet and only 3min walk into Penrith town, Perfect location for walk in lakes. We will certainly be back. This is definitely worth a visit you won’t be disappointed! Thanks again Sue"

Queens Head Inn
The Brantwood Hotel
"The good! Lovely pub/hotel with lots of character. Wood burner in bar very welcoming on a cold evening! Excellent quality breakfast. Interesting menu but didn’t stay for a meal. The ‘not so good’! No receptionist so reliant on bar/kitchen staff for check in/out. Bar was crowded on arrival and we were ignored until I fought through the throng to get the attention of the bar staff. The room was delightful (Room 2) except it was stone cold with no heating on….. the barman rectified the situation (at 1815) but on returning to the room the heating was off again at 2100! Heating stayed off overnight and had to ring the night manager number to ask for it to be put on in the morning. The bed was a great size but the mattress was hard and bumpy!"
Agricultural Inn
"Love places with friendly staff and really good breakfast. We definitely will back soon. Thank you 😊"
George and Dragon Clifton
"The room was freezing! The heating only came on for a couple of hours. The room was ok comfy bedding, not worth £175 though. The shower made a squealing noise and the bath tap dripped all night. Breakfast alright (beans were cold). The staff at the bar and restaurant were commendable."
The Lounge Hotel & Bar
"Well fitted out rooms, stylish and comfortable, we had a very nice stay. Restaurant was very nice and the food was delicious and reasonable. Car park was free and easy too find. Staff were all BRILLIANT, friendly, helpful and fun to talk with. Highly recommended, for a faultless stay."
Edenhall Country Hotel
"Went for food with a large group of friend menu was basic and over priced we received 1 menu between all of us and the waiter couldn’t get his head round why we wernt ready to order ! for what it was, one person opted for the pie, that had been microwaved to oblivion the pastry was rock hard and the filling extremely dry the chips were like Morrisons savers chips. Someone else ordered the fish and chips batter was burnt on the outside and like cake mix in the inside, so he did not eat that ! Just ate the fish instead which he said was actually a decent piece of fish. All the other food was pretty similar. It’s like a stepping back in time to the 80s with 2026 prices. A real shame it could be so much better there was hardly anyone eating in fact all I saw was us. Possibly upping their standards and menu would help fill the restaurant. The room we were in was pretty nice."
Macdonald Leeming House
"Suitable for self-driving tours, other ways to come over is more troublesome, the room may be close to the woods, some small flying insects in the room."
The White House Guest House
"Just had the weekend here with friends & our dogs Maple & Marley. Pru very welcoming & helpful. Beautiful clean spacious rooms & a lovely breakfast with the dogs also getting treats! Would absolutely recommend if you are this way on. We hope to be back in the near future x"
The Kings Arms Temple Sowerby
"An excellent place to stay overnight. We requested a quiet room which was at back of hotel and no traffic noise. The room was large and well appointed, with a large en-suite bathroom. Guests seemed to be those stopped on a long journey or as an overnight of a long distance walk All the staff from the first welcome, in the bar and dining area were friendly and helpful. We had dinner which was excellent, hubby had home made steak and ale pie and I had lamb en-croute, both of which were large portions, delicious and good value for money"
Lane Head Farm Country Guest House
"We had an incredible experience at Lane Farm! Suruchi, Yash, and their family are wonderful hosts who made us feel like part of their family. Their warm hospitality and welcoming nature made our stay truly special. The breakfast spread, featuring delicious Aloo Parantha and Dhokla, was a highlight - a lovely touch for Indian guests! The location is perfect for exploring Lake District, with most spots within easy reach. The rooms were immaculately clean and tidy, making it an ideal stay for families like ours (we had a 7-month-old little one with us!). Suruchi's support with our baby was greatly appreciated. We highly recommend Lane Farm for a comfortable and memorable stay. Can't wait to come back!"
Glendale Guest House
"stayed one night, single room £55 plus £5 for breakfast. Very good deal when compared with the competition. Located a short walk from the town centre. Parking can be an issue in Penrith, but Glendale are lucky to have a cheap public car park just a minute's walk away! Parking is free 6pm until 8am. Glendale is definitely a high quality B&B, fully refurbed mid 1800's spacious building oozes character with its decor, carefully selected furniture and adornments in the shared areas. My room was immaculate. The owners are very friendly and attentive and obviously go the extra mile to please their guests. 5* will return"
Queen's Head Askham
"A country pub in a pretty village. Really friendly welcoming staff. We had a comfortable room with a large bed and sofa. They only do pizzas for dinner but the one I had was excellent and good value. Breakfast was a bit limited if you don't eat meat as the cooked offering was just sausages and bacon and overcooked scrambled egg. There was fresh fruit salad, yogurt and cold meats and cheese and pastries but no 'Full English'. We would stay again as there are lots of walks around and the estate of Lowther Castle on the doorstep plus the village swimming pool."
Abbey House B & B
"We had a lovely one night stay at Abbey House. The rooms were charming and warm, with many thoughtful touches. The bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean. We had a delicious full breakfast before we headed off, and a lovely chat with Vicky our host. We were so pleased with our stay - hopefully we can come back again one day :)"
Stafford House Guest House
"The room was very clean. The host very nice and the breakfast was delicious. I recommend it"
