North Lakes Hotel and Spa ★★★★
"Nice and wonderful hotel. Very good for family trip with nice swimming pool and gym room provided. Just the room was a bit small. Other than that, all were good."
YHA Helvellyn ★★
"What a fantastic place. The most amazing atmosphere. The staff are so lovely, and can’t do enough for you. I’m gluten free and the kitchen were able to make me a gluten free pesto pasta. There really is something quite special about this place and I will definitely be back"

"What fantastic staff! I took my mam and dad for a birthday treat to the lakes, staying over at Penrith travelodge. I can't thank Ken enough for going the extra mile. My parent were over the moon. All of the staff were lovely and the accessable room was ideal for their needs. Thank you all so much."

Norcroft Guest House Vegetarian B&B.
"The room is clean and tidy. Surrounding is quiet and comfortable. Attendants are nice and helpful. Breakfast is fresh, delicious, with plenty of choices."
Shap Wells Hotel
"The service was good. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our experience of the room was adequate, however we could not use the shower it was impossible to have a shower due to the low ceiling so we could not stand up straight. I personally could not use the bath due to myself falling a few years back and having a complete new elbow since this incident I am very cautious of getting into a bath. This being the case I did not have a proper clean. This was not good has we had been hiking and really wanted to get ourselves cleaned up and changed. The staff were very friendly and helpful and you could not fault the food at all it was excellent."
Penrith
"avoid it at all costs had to wait to be seated at breafast as the person that was supposed to seat us was on his mobile it took the cook to remind him there were 2 familys waiting to be seat in fact we took it upon ourselves to find seats the room was smally and the bathroom had mold on the walls the shower didnt work when we complained we were told it would be fix in the morning nothing waqs done no exchage of rooms like we asked for they said they were full up ( lie)"
Brooklands Guest House
"Brooklands Guesthouse was booked for us by our walking tour company for ending of Lady Anne’s Way walk. When we arrived, Sue had our room ready. Extremely clean and quiet, it was the perfect place for a couple of nights before heading home to the States. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Sue set out service for bringing in take-away on our second night. This guesthouse is centrally located to all one needs for shopping and access to the train station. If we had known about Brooklands before we finalized our travel reservations, we would have added a couple of more nights so we could have explored more of the Penrith area. And while we have not watched “Four in a Bed”, we can understand why she won the 2026 competition. Sue Grundy is a delightful hostess!"
The Shepherds Inn
"Stopped in for a bite to eat & was not disappointed. It’s a lovely place with friendly staff & fantastic food but be warned the portion size is very generous, reasonably priced would definitely recommend."
Stafford House Guest House
"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Stafford Guest House. The property is beautiful, set within peaceful surroundings and complemented by a lovely garden. We stayed in the four-poster bedroom, which was spacious, tastefully decorated, and perfectly balanced comfort with a touch of luxury. It also offered delightful views overlooking the garden. Our hosts were exceptionally welcoming and friendly, providing engaging conversation as well as helpful local recommendations. Everything was clearly explained upon arrival, making the entire experience smooth and effortless from the very beginning. Breakfast was both delicious and generous in portion. Additionally, there is a charming village pub just a short walk away — The Boot & Shoe Inn — which added to the experience. We would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay."
The Lounge Hotel & Bar
"We were unlucky enough to be taking a train journey during storm Babet and only got as far as Penrith! We got off the train and booked a room here for rhe night. We paid £130 for a lovey big room. Was very clean, comfortable and quite. Had everything we needed. Rate included breakfast which was lovely! One of the best hotel breakfasts I've had. Had a few drinks in rhe bar on rhe Friday night and seemed a good atmosphere with very friendly Staff. Location was a 10 minuye walk from station and just a stroll away from the main shopping area. On the whole we enjoyed our unexpected stay in Penrith, we will come back and we will book Rhe Lounge Hotel again!! "
George and Dragon Clifton
"The food and service were both excellent. Very warm friendly reception the roaring fire an added bonus."
Macdonald Leeming House
"Amongst the lakes, I thought Ullswater is the nicest in terms of view and serenity. Macdonald Leeming House has a peek view of the lake, together with a big grass patch. I opted to upgrade to a lake view room as the other side faces some shrubs, I was told. Room size wise is decent. For the price, I expected a bit more amenities like shower cap and slippers. The hotel was not receptive as there were no replies to my queries sent to the email listed on their website and through trip.com. When I clarified, the reception said the address I sent to were invalid? I did not like the food at the Regency Restaurant. Options were limited and my ham steak was over salty."
The White House Guest House
"Lovely, comfortable, well cared-for accommodation with a very comfortable bed but the shower was up two small steps and it was a very small cubicle. The gardens are a delight and Pru went out of her way to find the name of a peony that we liked very much. Pru was welcoming and attentive without being in the slightest way overbearing. she also presented us with a superb breakfast. We'd like to come back with our dogs as they get a super treat at breakfast!"
The Annex - Eden House
Abbey House B & B
"Host Vickie of Abbey House B&B definitely made our first trip to Penrith a truly memorable experience. She was prompt with our pre-arrival queries. We love our suite with the "Thoughtful Drawer", bathrobes and delicious breakfast spread. Bonus is also its convenient location to train and bus stations for day trip to Lake District as well as walking distance to village squares with quaint local-owned artisanal shops, markets, and diners. We wish we could have stayed longer than 2 nights. Thanks Vickie! ❤️"
1863 Restaurant with Rooms
"2nd time we have stayed here. Can't find a fault, rooms very comfortable staff lovely and food as good as anywhere. I liked the laid back vibe which I think emanates from the owner who I think is also the head chef lovely bloke, should be on Masterchef the proffesionals. Will return."
Glendale Guest House
"An excellent place to stay and the owner Ann couldn't have been more helpful to us on our CTC bike ride. We were so grateful that there was a drying room and she made sure all our wet clothing was dried and ready for the next morning. Breakfast was great as was the room"
