"Avoid Penrith dirty and smelly with rude staff air conditioning full of mold so bad we left when alternative room was as bad. Apparently Premier Inn do not feel that a refund is justified despite the fact we were so disgusted by the state of the place we left."

"The Norcroft Guesthouse is a fantastic place to stay when visiting Helvellyn. It was the perfect spot to rest and prepare for the long journey ahead. Mark and Paula’s hospitality was exceptional; they were incredibly welcoming and attentive to my needs. As a Muslim, finding permissible food can sometimes be complicated, but their ideal vegetarian breakfast completely removed that worry. It was delicious, simple, and incredibly convenient—they even packed it as a takeaway when I was running short on time! The rooms were spotless, smelled wonderful, and the overall amenities were excellent. There was also a peaceful space where I found it comfortable to pray, which added a special, thoughtful touch to my stay. The pricing is fantastic compared to other hotels in the area, offering a much better alternative with a truly unique charm. Thank you, Mark and Paula, for making my trip to the area so memorable. "Love the location, the views from the hotel & dining room. The restaurant was good, young inexperienced staff that very very nice but a little clumsy. Checkin receptionist was very curt, but check out person the following day was lovely. All in all, loved staying here again. Beautifully peaceful"

"Lovely, comfortable, well cared-for accommodation with a very comfortable bed but the shower was up two small steps and it was a very small cubicle. The gardens are a delight and Pru went out of her way to find the name of a peony that we liked very much. Pru was welcoming and attentive without being in the slightest way overbearing. she also presented us with a superb breakfast. We'd like to come back with our dogs as they get a super treat at breakfast!"

"We had a really lovely weekend stay at Brooklands when we visited Penrith for a cycling event. Owner Sue was so friendly and welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us, making sure our bikes were stored safely and even getting up super early to make our breakfast as we had an early event start. Thank you Sue! Our room was exquisitely appointed with beautiful antique furniture and a stylish bathroom with lovely fluffy towels and bathrobes. Breakfast was excellent with a huge choice of continental and cooked options and my mushroom omelette was perfect! We’ll definitely be back."

"Host Vickie of Abbey House B&B definitely made our first trip to Penrith a truly memorable experience. She was prompt with our pre-arrival queries. We love our suite with the "Thoughtful Drawer", bathrobes and delicious breakfast spread. Bonus is also its convenient location to train and bus stations for day trip to Lake District as well as walking distance to village squares with quaint local-owned artisanal shops, markets, and diners. "I had a one night stay after a days walking in the fells. On arrival I had a the most warm welcome from the owner and felt at home straight away, she also gave me useful info about parking and directions to a local restaurant where I was meeting friends. My room was clean, warm and comfortable with pleasant decor, tea and coffee and modern en suite. It was easy to come and go and just 2 mins walk from the main street, bars and restaurants. I pre-ordered a full English breakfast which was delicious and served in nice surroundings. Overall a very pleasant experience, I’ll stay here again, thank you "
