"Booked a two-night stay at The Ostendian via Trip.com on a non-refundable rate. Unfortunately, I became ill right before the trip and couldn’t travel. I reached out to both the hotel and Trip.com to ask if any flexibility (rescheduling or credit) was possible, but in the end both refused. I understand the policy, but I’m very disappointed that there was absolutely no goodwill or flexibility in this situation. Ended up paying for a stay I couldn’t use."

"Location of this B&B is good, easy walking distance to the beachfront and to the center of town. The place doesn't offer parking, but can give you tips when and where to park. We spent quite some time trying to find street parking, and managed in the end, but it took some effort. Not the responsibility of the B&B to offer parking, but something to be aware of. Timing can be important in finding parking (Saturday afternoon turned out to be a poor choice of arriving). We were welcomed with a cup of coffee and a nice chat with the owner, a very good first impression and start of the stay. Our room/studio was at the top floor. The stairs are typical Dutch/Flemish steep and narrow. Not a problem for us, but another thing to be aware of, especially if you have heavy or bulky luggage. The room was spacious, modern, and had everything we needed. It also had a terrace with a nice view over the rooftops. Breakfast was excellent, freshly made and served every day by the owner. He also explained what everything was and where it was sourced, which added a nice touch. The owner also gave us tips of what to do and see in the area, and there is also a host of information in the common room of the B&B. Overall a very nice stay, and definitely recommended."

"Room booked for two nights, quiet room located on the 5th floor. Hotel reception perfect, very friendly welcome. The room seemed spacious; however, the layout was not optimal, leaving hardly any space between the wall-mounted TV and the foot of the bed. The bathroom had been renovated, everything was very neat, but the shower cabin was extremely small. There was no room to move around. Two shower heads were present, but the largest one was unusable due to a poor seal on the shower door, causing the bathroom to flood in no time. The room was pleasantly warm, the beds comfortable; I slept like a log. Breakfast was extensive, with lots of variety, but no fresh fruit or fruit juice. All in all, we enjoyed our stay, also thanks to the professionalism at the front desk."

"I had a bad room on the floor with two velux windows, and I could only get on a seat or seat. One of those windows had a ventilation that constantly entered mugs and that was not really closed. The hotel was totally inpersonal. Only 1 person was seen because the rest was all electronic"
