The only downside is that the housekeepers vacuum the rooms early in the morning, which makes it difficult to get up early, but other than that, you have to do the cleaning properly if you want quality cleanliness. 😁"

"This was our first stay with B&B Hotels, and the first of 5 bidet hotel stays during a two week road trip around France. The B&B hotel in Alençon stood out for several reasons. The availability of EV charging stations was a real bonus and made our journey much easier. The staff on site were exceptionally helpful and welcoming, quite a contrast to our experience of many of the other budget hotels. Staff suggested we ate in neighbouring restaurant where we got a 20% discount. Even though it had gone 9pm. Restaurant were happy to accept us and our discount was applied. Breakfast was another highlight: hot, well-prepared, and consistently replenished, which made for a great start to each day. Our room was also noticeably more spacious than the one we had in Toulouse, and the shower was excellent, with plenty of space, strong water pressure, and reliably hot water. What really made this stay memorable, however, was the staff. Across all five B&B Hotels we stayed in the week, the team here in Alençon were by far the most engaged, attentive, and customer-focused."

"On the way to the Castle of Carrouges, we stayed at the Lion of Gold restaurant in Ecouché-les-Vallées. Good pick: after a warm welcome, the housemaster guided us to a beautiful and comfortable room with a spacious sheep table. The unique formula of the midday offers a varied and appetiteful buffet followed by exquisite slices of a soft cow roast and sweet with its garment, served by the cook in person. The "home" desserts, certainly classic, were particularly delicious, all for a very reasonable price. Therefore, very favourable impression that contrasts with the latest review published by Trip Advisor under Mike Prior: " .... Something wrong with the hotel, but the male grossness, the presumed owner, was unprecedented. The spirit of time is the most hostile to the "male" (metoouesque androphobia?) especially if it is a good idea to be our owner? The barbe that served us very courteously last noon has not inspired us a so severe judgment. Honni be who man thinks!"

"What a fabulous find this was! We were looking for an overnight stopping place on our return to the UK and are so pleased we found Domaine de Prestal. It’s a wonderful, tranquil location surrounded by lovely countryside. The room was immaculate, spacious and comfortable. Nicholas is a great host and makes very good cocktails! A hearty breakfast before our departure set us up very nicely for the final stage of our journey. So much better than the just-off-the-motorway chain hotels we normally stay at. We shall return and have no hesitation in recommending this fine establishment."

"We booked this Chateau as a last stop at the end of our holiday in France. It was intended to be a bit of luxury after a long drive .. and it is certainly spectacular in its setting and age. The owners were welcoming and helpful and their home-made breads and pastries were amazing - as was their jam, meaning we had to take some home! There was some confusion over dinner as it was not available when we arrived so check the instructions on booking - we went into the nearby town and were lucky to find somewhere open on a Sunday night. The room was a little tired and would be challenging to reach if you were at all unsteady on your feet as it was up a steep, stone, curved stair case with the hollows of centuries-worth of footsteps making it quite a feat! The bed was the most comfortable I have slept in in months - although my husband was convinced it moved in the night! The owners assured us it was not ******* so it may have been the wine! All in all a lovely place and I would like to return in the spring/summer months to see it in all its glory."

"The room was tight with space and the shower room the size of a closet. The wash basin was cracked. Where the manager was very charming and helpful her staff left much to be desired. Their body language left one with the impression that they were tired of tourists invading their space; indifferent and could not look at you in the eye. Table service was very poor showing a lack of training and experience. We were seated at a table but not given any menus. After waiting a quarter of an hour we noticed other couples arriving were seated and given menus immediately. At that point I got up and asked a member of staff for a menu. Having supplied our order we were kept waiting half an hour before the first course arrived while other customers who had arrived after us were served before us. Our dinner took us two and a half hours! On departure, after two nights, we were checked out by one of the assistants who was very curt, could not look at me in the eye and could not bring herself to wish us a pleasant journey! Cannot recommend this hotel"

"We were sitting on the first floor of the ‘head' building and there were 2 separate rooms. Möbel is very old and rooms made a dust and not quite clean impression. 1 of the rooms had no curtain. Beddengoed was old (a little weared lakens) and muffy. The breakfast was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast does not suggest much, (no fresh) bread with only a cup of jam, yoghurt and apple juice. The bags of tea also looked very old. The environment is beautiful, spacious garden and nearby town with a few restaurants."

"This is a fascinating little mini-farm in a centuries-old house. She has chickens, goats, and a miniature pony. Lovely places to relax on a lounge in the sun or eat out under an umbrella in the garden. Its 18-inch thick walls are perfect soundproofing. The silence is a welcome relief from a busy city. Host Monique is friendly and energetic, and an excellent cook. She even made the delectable croissants and jam for our yummy breakfast. It is served in a large dining room with several fascinating antiques and literature about local activities. I highly recommend the nearby B'O Resort & Spa in Bagnoles de l'Orne. You don't have to stay in the Victorian resort to take advantage of the hot spring treatments. I have been twice and felt all brand new after a soak, a mud pack, exercise class in the cool pool that is perfect for sightseer's legs, and a relaxing bubble-caressed lounge in yet another pool."
