Hotel Kinoshita Akita-Oga-Ekimae
"We used it to go to the OGA Aquarium. Until now, I stayed around Akita Station, so it took about 3 hours to go back and forth every time. It is very helpful to have a hotel nearby! It was still new and clean. There are few restaurants around the hotel, so it may be a little inconvenient for those who are not coming by car ... But if you walk a little, there is a convenience store!"
Ogaonsen Yuinoyado Bettei Tsubaki
"The staff were very kind and I had heard that the food was delicious. I had to leave early because I had to take care of some business, but next time I'd like to take my time."
Seiko Grand Hotel
"Take the Oga Line from Akita Station to Oga Station. The hotel has a shuttle bus at 2:45 PM, but reservations need to be made two days in advance. Thanks to Ctrip customer service for helping me make the reservation. The journey from Oga Station to the hotel takes about 25 minutes. Oga Onsen-kyo is truly a declining onsen-kyo; there are only a few hotels, practically nothing else! If you don't have a car, choose your hotel carefully. Don't change hotels, otherwise you'll have nowhere to go during the day—don't ask me how I know. The hotel is just an ordinary hotel."

"The hospitality was excellent, and I'm so glad I stayed here! The rooms are clean and the breakfast is delicious."
Moricho Ryokan
"The staff who checked us in and served us breakfast were wonderful. However, when we tried to use the bar in the evening, we were disappointed that the staff were constantly chatting with locals and completely ignored us. There was only one other group there and they weren't busy, so it was a shame that they treated us that way intentionally. In the end, it didn't feel like we could order anything, so we gave up and left, but even then, no one came over to us. Even if you book the most expensive room, you get this kind of treatment, and I felt that this hotel doesn't offer service commensurate with the price."
Hotel Park Terrace OGA
"We stayed as a family of four: a young child, a middle school-aged boy, and myself. Due to a misunderstanding on my part, we were given the wrong room type. Since we had a young child, this was a problem, but when I consulted the front desk staff, they kindly and quickly resolved the issue, providing us with a room that met our needs for only a small additional charge. It was a real lifesaver and made our trip much more enjoyable. Dinner was a barbecue with beef, pork, chicken, and seafood, and 90 minutes of self-serve, all-you-can-drink (including alcohol). There was more food than we could eat! Breakfast was a moderately sized buffet, and although we don't usually eat much for breakfast, we all ended up overeating. The hotel was very clean and the location was excellent. Neither my son nor I usually get up early, but we took a walk on the beach across the street early in the morning, searching for seashells. The children seemed quite satisfied! However, the parking lot is gravel, making it difficult to move around with a stroller. If you know beforehand, you can drop off your child in front of the hotel. The children said they had a great time, so overall, it was a very positive experience for our family!"
Oga Onsenkyo Oga Hotel
"“The place is close to tourist attractions, quiet, and relaxing. It’s the perfect place to unwind 😊"
Umi to Irihi No Yado Teisui
"An absolute gem! The views stunning, and food is exquisite. The rooms are all recently renovated with wood and in a minimalist style. The hotel had a faint fragrance of cedar? Our rooms each had ocean-facing private baths and panoramic sunset views. I feel so recharged and replenished. The setting is remote but actually not that hard to get to given Japan’s excellent transportation system. It’s 3.8 hours from Tokyo to Akita and then a lovely 50 minutes local train ride to Oga. The ryokan will pick you up. (We opted to book a local shuttle bus as we were seven people with luggage and opted to stop at the Namahage museum beforehand to learn about local lore.) The hotel has a really fun aquarium nearby which kids loved—polar bears, penguins are the main attractions but we also enjoyed the jellyfish and deep sea local fish exhibits. Highly, highly recommend staying here. The staff was incredibly helpful and gracious. Teisui is in on my list as a place to revisit."
Oga Kanko Hotel
"I stayed at the Oga Kanko Hotel while in Akita attending the Namahage Festival. By it's outward appearance, the hotel feels like it's from another era. It's older and the building seems to have lived through the by-gone days of Japan's Bubble Jidai. So, I'd ask that you not judge the hotel on it's outward appearance because the staff are so incredibly friendly and helpful, the dinner course was really tasty, the sake selection superb, and the onsen divine. The rooms are well heated and the beds very comfortable. The shuttle service from the station to the hotel, and from the hotel to the festival (and, back) were great. I plan to come to the Namahage Festival next year and will absolutely stay at Oga Kanko."
