"We used it to go to the OGA Aquarium. Until now, I stayed around Akita Station, so it took about 3 hours to go back and forth every time. It is very helpful to have a hotel nearby! It was still new and clean. There are few restaurants around the hotel, so it may be a little inconvenient for those who are not coming by car ... But if you walk a little, there is a convenience store!"

"Take the Oga Line from Akita Station to Oga Station. The hotel has a shuttle bus at 2:45 PM, but reservations need to be made two days in advance. Thanks to Ctrip customer service for helping me make the reservation. The journey from Oga Station to the hotel takes about 25 minutes. Oga Onsen-kyo is truly a declining onsen-kyo; there are only a few hotels, practically nothing else! If you don't have a car, choose your hotel carefully. Don't change hotels, otherwise you'll have nowhere to go during the day—don't ask me how I know. The hotel is just an ordinary hotel."

"The staff who checked us in and served us breakfast were wonderful. However, when we tried to use the bar in the evening, we were disappointed that the staff were constantly chatting with locals and completely ignored us. There was only one other group there and they weren't busy, so it was a shame that they treated us that way intentionally. In the end, it didn't feel like we could order anything, so we gave up and left, but even then, no one came over to us. Even if you book the most expensive room, you get this kind of treatment, and I felt that this hotel doesn't offer service commensurate with the price."

"We stayed as a family of four: a young child, a middle school-aged boy, and myself. Due to a misunderstanding on my part, we were given the wrong room type. Since we had a young child, this was a problem, but when I consulted the front desk staff, they kindly and quickly resolved the issue, providing us with a room that met our needs for only a small additional charge. It was a real lifesaver and made our trip much more enjoyable. Dinner was a barbecue with beef, pork, chicken, and seafood, and 90 minutes of self-serve, all-you-can-drink (including alcohol). There was more food than we could eat! Breakfast was a moderately sized buffet, and although we don't usually eat much for breakfast, we all ended up overeating. The hotel was very clean and the location was excellent. Neither my son nor I usually get up early, but we took a walk on the beach across the street early in the morning, searching for seashells. The children seemed quite satisfied! However, the parking lot is gravel, making it difficult to move around with a stroller. If you know beforehand, you can drop off your child in front of the hotel. The children said they had a great time, so overall, it was a very positive experience for our family!"

"An absolute gem! The views stunning, and food is exquisite. The rooms are all recently renovated with wood and in a minimalist style. The hotel had a faint fragrance of cedar? Our rooms each had ocean-facing private baths and panoramic sunset views. I feel so recharged and replenished. The setting is remote but actually not that hard to get to given Japan’s excellent transportation system. It’s 3.8 hours from Tokyo to Akita and then a lovely 50 minutes local train ride to Oga. The ryokan will pick you up. (We opted to book a local shuttle bus as we were seven people with luggage and opted to stop at the Namahage museum beforehand to learn about local lore.) The hotel has a really fun aquarium nearby which kids loved—polar bears, penguins are the main attractions but we also enjoyed the jellyfish and deep sea local fish exhibits. Highly, highly recommend staying here. The staff was incredibly helpful and gracious. Teisui is in on my list as a place to revisit."

"I stayed at the Oga Kanko Hotel while in Akita attending the Namahage Festival. By it's outward appearance, the hotel feels like it's from another era. It's older and the building seems to have lived through the by-gone days of Japan's Bubble Jidai. So, I'd ask that you not judge the hotel on it's outward appearance because the staff are so incredibly friendly and helpful, the dinner course was really tasty, the sake selection superb, and the onsen divine. The rooms are well heated and the beds very comfortable. The shuttle service from the station to the hotel, and from the hotel to the festival (and, back) were great. I plan to come to the Namahage Festival next year and will absolutely stay at Oga Kanko."

Ogaonsen Yuinoyado Bettei Tsubaki ★★★★
"On my first trip to the Oga Peninsula in Akita, I chose to stay at Bettei Tsubaki for two nights. The building, rooms, and baths were all perfectly clean, and the front desk and dining staff were all extremely accommodating, making for a very comfortable trip. All the food was delicious, and dinner was served buffet style with rice, miso soup, and other dishes, so I was able to have seconds without hesitation. Breakfast was also served buffet style, with a wide variety of dishes and an abundance of local ingredients, so I was very satisfied. Thank you to all the staff at Bettei Tsubaki for the wonderful stay. I would definitely like to stay here again."

"My husband and I stayed in a Western-style relaxing twin room in the main building. The room was beautifully renovated as described on the website. The duvet was so light and warm that it fell off the bed in the morning, which was the only disappointing thing. If you don't have any particular preference for the bed, I recommend a Japanese-style room. The hot spring is free-flowing and not too hot, so it's just right. The open-air bath is a little warmer than the indoor bath, so you can stay in it for a long time. It was a very healthy hot spring. We had dinner at the dinner venue. There was a wide variety of dishes and the portions were large, and even the sauce for the sea bream shabu-shabu was very delicious. Oga is so famous for sea bream that they even have a sea bream festival. I recommend ordering the sea bream head stew as an additional dish. The lightly sweet seasoning really lets you see the quality of the ingredients. The size was huge, and it was hard for the couple to finish it. All the dishes were delicious, and we were able to try some delicious Akita sake, so we're talking about going back next time."

Hotel Park Terrace OGA ★★★
"I came to Oga City specifically to see Namahage (the Japanese demon), and stayed at a hotel near Funagoeshi Station, two stops away from Oga Station. The hotel itself faces the river, and it's about a 20-minute walk from Funagoeshi Station. There were Namahage keychains and figurines everywhere around the reception area, and a small corner of a souvenir shop next door. The Namahage keychains were even cheaper than at the Namahage Museum. Before leaving, I bought a blue Namahage station keychain to complete my set with the red one I bought at the museum. The receptionist was incredibly friendly and welcoming. There was free coffee and juice available next to the reception until 7:30 PM. There was also free, unlimited ice cream at the exit of the public bath on the first floor, which you could take to your room. The room was quite clean, the table was long enough to put things on, and the window had a river view. It rained in the evening, and the flags fluttering outside were very loud, so I could hear them from inside the room. Thankfully, the wind stopped at night, and I slept very well. The meal included two meals. The 2-hour timed dinner was a BBQ set meal where you grill your own meat. A large platter included fish, shrimp, conch, pork, chicken, and beef. While the presentation was a bit messy, the portion was enough for one person. Rice and miso soup were complimentary and self-service, along with a 90-minute buffet of soft drinks. Breakfast was also a buffet, mainly consisting of various sausages, meatballs, and tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled omelets). Drinks included milk and coffee; although the selection was limited, it was still filling. After leaving the hotel, a 20-minute walk across the bridge led to a giant Namahage (demon) statue. There was a platform in front of the statue where you could hold your phone. A very satisfying trip to this off-the-beaten-path attraction!"

Oga Onsenkyo Oga Hotel ★★★
"Friday, July 2024 / Oga Hotel (Trip to Hokkaido, Aomori, and Akita) [Accommodation fee] 31,900 yen/2 people. 1 night, 2 meals. ・[Sakiraku 60] Enjoy seasonal ingredients ■ Savor the specialty stone-grilled and charcoal-grilled dishes at the dining room "Shunsai Senshin" [Standard] ・[Non-smoking] Main building Japanese-Western room [Twin bed + 3 tatami mats] [Parking] Free [Comments] Upon entering the lobby, you'll be greeted by a Namahage doll. (It seems to be a popular photo spot, so we had a hotel staff member take our photo for us.) From the Japanese-Western room on the 7th floor, you can see the Sea of Japan. We ate at the restaurant, but for Oga's specialty "stone-grilled" meal, groups gather in groups at mealtime, and they demonstrate the cooking in the center, then bring the finished stone-grilled bowls to each person's table. The taste was incredible! I'm not particularly fond of fish dishes, but this was surprisingly delicious. The outdoor bath was too hot at night, so I couldn't soak for long, but the indoor bath was too hot in the morning. It was a little salty because it had a lot of salt. I stayed on a Friday, and as it was before the summer holidays, about half the cars were parked, and there were also tour groups. If you follow the navigation system, you will be directed to the back of the hotel, which is a long detour, so be careful. It was only a short walk to the Oga Onsen Community Hall "Gofu." It was close enough to go in a yukata, and they also sold tickets at the hotel. [Previous visitor location] Port Tower Selion [Next visitor location] Oga Onsen Community Hall "Gofu""

"From Oga station to the hotel, I made a reservation for the hotel's Hiace in advance. When I got off the station, a person with a placard of a color 々 hotel / inn stood. When I got in the hotel car, I was told whether I would go by the person who runs the coastline (40 minutes required) or the mountain (Namahage Kaido, 30 minutes required), so it was my first time. I asked someone to run the coastline. It was very good. Amenities such as brush shaving ear drawing cotton swabs are selected with check-in foron. Toothbrushes, hair straps, shaving creams, skin lotions, etc. were provided in the room. The hot spring was radium hot spring, and it was written that it was brown because it contained iron. There was no handrail in the private bath. Since the hot water is brown, it is 2 stage when entering from the other side of the hot water, but it was easy to enter, but I couldn't see it. I went to the private open-air bath of the facility, but the color of the hot water was transparent. It was because it was filtered and circulated. The room was quiet and the voice of the next person was completely unheard. There was a sofa in the room, but the sofa was short, and to watch TV, it was not a sofa, but just sitting, and the backrest was not long. I couldn't lie down and watch TV and couldn't relax. Dinner was guided to a place like a guest room on the opposite side of the guest room and ate. It was set and I felt full when I ate 16 kinds of appetizers. The breakfast was delicious. However, I was only crustacean allergy, and I emailed that I couldn't eat crab, etc., but my wife and children were also eating the same meal. I wanted you to hear it by email a little more in advance. The food was delicious, but since I came to the Oga Peninsula, I wanted my wife and children to eat Japanese Sea cuisine such as crabs. I couldn't see the sunset from the outside, but I could see the darkness of Toga Bay and it was very beautiful. Also, the starry sky was very beautiful. I had a hotel car to go to the Oga Aquarium GAO and put it in front of the entrance of the aquarium (about 3 minutes). I booked a sightseeing taxi in Oga City from the aquarium, but the taxi was only in Oga City and it was a time reservation system (3 time was about 25,000 yen). When I asked at the front desk about the sea cucumber dolls in the facility, it was said that it was ordered by the landlady (3500 yen in total). The bath meal was very good, so I think the idea of the person staying will change, but in the future, I would like to expect "hospitality" that is close to the feelings of the person staying, not the surface service."

"If you go further the Tohoku Region. There is a small town called Oga and it is known for the Namehage. During my stay here, the staff, facilities and amenities are superb. I also like that they have a long time frame for experiencing both of their onsen that has panoramic view and outside onsen. I also like that performance of Oga locals and is very heartwarming to support rural towns. When it comes to food, you will definately get a proper keiseki meal. If you are any resctiction like vegetarian and vegan. Please let them know right away due to it takes time for them to prepare everything which usually last a day. Overall, our stay in this ryokan is truly stunning. If you have low tolerance to heat though, I am afraid it might need time to cool it because you can't open the windows. "
