Hostel DANEXAN APA

Hostel DANEXAN APA

📍 Kuk Uzyak, 30/1, Nukus
★★ 9.5 (2 reviews)

"I stayed for two nights, and the hostel itself was quite decent – the room was clean, the breakfast was okay. I also went on an organized tour to Muynak from the hostel. I was originally planning to go there myself, but the weather was so bad that I didn't risk it. In addition to the former shore of the Aral Sea and the ship graveyard, we also visited a typical old cemetery and a camel farm (although almost all the camels had gone for a walk, we did try some salted milk). We didn't get to see the Aral Sea Museum because the wind damaged a power line, and there was no power. I'd especially like to commend the conscientiousness of our guide and hostel employee, Atabek, who then took us to another museum – an ecology museum – but there was no power there either. And although none of this was his fault, of course, as compensation, he took us to one of the Khorezm fortresses (Gyaur Kala Khodjeyli) located near an ancient cemetery, which was also very interesting to explore. Overall, I was very pleased with both my stay at the hostel and the tour."

Karakalpak Palace Hotel

📍 проспект И.Каримова 114, Nukus
★★★ 8.3 (10 reviews)

"A very large spacious room, with working air-con and very friendly people. They happily arranged a daytrip for us to Muynak and Mizdarkhan with little notice and a good price. Nowhere near as touristy as Khiva, the Karakalpak people were shy, much much more authentic and genuinely happy to meet tourists from far away lands (like Canada). So I highly recommend staying a night in Nukus if thinking of exploring the former Aral Sea, the Savitzky Museum or the necropolis. Don't do it from Khiva, it is just too far and too long of a day (but do check out the desert fortresses along the way from Khiva to Nukus, such as Chilpik Dakhma, Gyuar-Kala and Janpik Kala). Nukus is a much quieter city, but there is good restaurants nearby (Palvan Shakh and the Grand Lavash) and you can walk to the museum from here easily (you could even walk to the airport if you wanted)."

"What a fabulous hotel. Great location to access the museum and restaurants close by. All staff very friendly. Great Wi-Fi. Breakfast was included and was of a good standard. Would recommend and stay again. We used their travel services to book our Aral Sea tour which was excellent too."

Jipek Joli Inn

📍 Jipek Joli 4, Nukus
★★★ 8.6 (10 reviews)

"We stayed in Jipek Joli Inn for one night. This hotel was converted from two separate villas, connected by a semi-open courtyard. The room is slightly old-fashioned but clean and comfortable enough for a pleasant stay. The reception staff speak fluent English and efficiently helped us arrange transportation to Mizdakhan and Gyaur Kala. The price was reasonable, and the driver was very accommodating. The location couldn’t be better—just a five-minute walk to the Art Museum, with several mini markets and shops nearby."

"The room was very clean, and all the facilities were complete. The shower water pressure was excellent, and I slept very well that night without any noise. The breakfast was also plentiful. Overall, it was very good in all aspects. It's very close to the Savitsky Museum, making it very convenient to walk there."

"Actually I didn't stay there, but... I made a reservation already in November 2024 by mail.I had their response and got the confirmation for 7 rooms with breakfast for two nights in May 2025. Yesterday, one month before arrival, the cancel the full reservation because they have a bigger group which increased their number of guests. OK, there I'm standing with my group of 13 people, one month before arrival. I have now another hotel, Damir Hotel, but of course more expensive because we are closer to the arrival date. Do not use Jipek Joli hotel. They are unreliable."

"This hotel is way too expensive for the quality and service you get. It's about 50% more expensive than every hotel or guest house we stayed in throughout Uzbekistan and by far the worst place we stayed. The breakfast was not very good, and the shower was a joke--a bathtub without a shower curtain you stand in and can't help but get water all over the floor. The bed was hard and the room wasn't nicely decorated nor comfortable in any way. Plus, they charged us 100,000 UZS (about $8 US) for an early check in. They wanted 150,000, but I complained and they reduced it. We've checked in early in two other hotels in Uzbekistan and no one ever mentioned an extra charge. I think the owners are money-hungry and working off their old reputation. We stayed here the night before our Aral Sea trip and then in a private apartment in Nukus after our trip which was infinitely more comfortable, nicer and cheaper. Stay away from this place."

"It's really close to the airport, about a five-minute walk is enough Good breakfast Only one room card is given The sensor lights in the corridor are very good, sensitive and without any extra noise. The elevator is slow and takes a long time to wait. Breakfast is on the basement floor and the elevator cannot reach it. Not good for the knees. There is no Yandex Food service in Nukus. The pizza at the Italian restaurant opposite the hotel is good and you can buy some to eat at the hotel."
