"This hotel is in very bad shape. The rooms look good but there is a terrible situation going on with mold there. I have exposed to mold before so I am very sensitive when it comes to places which have it. I have never smelled a mold that strong. There was also a bad smell similar to cats pee. My eyes burned and I felt sick during our stay in the hotel. The toilet was the worst and the smell was the strongest there. You can see the water damage and the mold in the pictures. I don’t think this hotel is safe to anyone but especially not to those who have exposed to mold before. We had air conditioning in our room but it didn’t work during our stay. The staff was friendly at first but after we had checked in they didn’t gave us any sign of friendliness. We needed to print a document for an event and asked the receptionists if she could help us. She didn’t even say hi back or look us in the eyes - she just told coldly no and continued calculating her money. We told that we would go to an event where we need just one printed document and she just told us again that no. We would need to go to a book store (is there even one in Sunny Beach?) and she could not help us. The best part was that there were working printer beside the lady. It was clear that she just didn’t want to help us. In the check out morning they called to our room in advance to get our out of the room even though there was still time to go to do the check out so we were not late. Breakfast was quite okay. First morning they runned out of coffee beans and the staff just walked in front of me and laughed mean instead of helping. Cleaning staff was rude and they watched us oddly like they were mad to us about something. Very rude service and dangerous rooms for your health. Problems with mold is not a fooling matter. Being exposed can do serious damage to you. I can’t recommend this hotel to anyone. Please take care of yourself and don’t come here."

"My daughter is traveling in Bulgaria to participate in an archeological dig. She traveled from Sofia to Burgas. Unfortunately, she arrived at 9 pm, and no buses or taxis were available. No one at the train station spoke English. We called the hotel, and the staff could not have been nicer and more helpful. They tried to find a taxi, and when that did not work, they offered to send the shuttle 33km each way for her. I cannot express how much I appreciate them. They are great. Thank you to whoever answered the phone at 9:25 local time on June 14th. Saved the day."

"My friend and I decided to visit Sunny Beach and we just chose a random hotel. It turned out to be a comfortable experience and we are very happy with the hotel. The room was standard with a hair dryer, mini-fridge, nice air-conditioning, a balcony and an ironing board in the hallway just outside. Both the bathroom and the main room were really clean. I could not see a spot of dirt or stains anywhere. I even checked the mattress, and it looked brand new. The hotel is also very quiet at night and you don’t get disturbed by the partying in town when you want to sleep. It seemed that the reception was manned 24/7 and it felt safe. The family that runs the hotel is really friendly and I can tell they are working hard to keep the rooms in good condition. They are also helpful with anything you might need. For instance; They drove us to a far away beach for a good price when we didn’t want to travel with the local taxi cars. They have a pool, which we didn’t try, but we checked it out and it looked squeaky clean as well. We also felt safe with leaving our belongings in the room, such as passports and expensive clothing. Oh, and the hotel is located in a good spot. It is close enough to the beach, close to restaurants, supermarket etc. They even offered free parking when we rented a car."

"Don't waste your hard-earned money on this hotel! I have no idea how this hotel is a 5-star. Had a horrible time. It was meant to be a family holiday where it was my parents' first time in a hotel. Ruined it for them. We were greeted in the hotel with a 25 leva-a-day parking fee which was advertised as FREE PARKING. Then we were taken to an open field with no security or gates and my 70 year old dad was made to WALK 20 minutes in 36 DEGREES! I was so appalled! No transport system for a 5-star hotel. I wanted to leave that moment. Don't get me started on the food. I felt depressed every time it was time to eat. No variety of food; I had the same food for 3 days I was there. Just stews and pork. The snack restaurant was horrid; my younger nephews just ate chips and cucumber for the whole 3 days. No child-friendly food. The general staff were rude and overworked, not even a smile or thank you. We went to the beach and figured out that what was claimed to be part of the package we also had to pay for – sunbeds and umbrellas. The sea was dirty and very wavy; better beaches are in Devon. Red flags on all 3 days i was there. Due to the position of the hotel, the pool doesn't get any sunlight after 3pm, leaving the pool freezing cold. The entertainment was very disappointing and minimal effort for everything except the occasional water polo. The kids were left bored with nothing to do. The rooms were very old and not 5-star quality once again. Old aircon and the shower door wouldn't work. And to conclude the holiday, I had to walk with my dad back to get the car in the blazing heat once checking out so end a pretty depressing holiday. Disgraceful food, lack of quality and effort across the board. Will definitely not be recommending this to anyone."

"The hotel was pleasant enough , although our first balcony was tiny, you couldn't fit two people on comfortably. We paid for a balcony and complained, they moved us the next day to a much better view. The room was tired, the curtains did not cover the whole window so lots of light coming in, not the best sleep. The food was ok, as we expected for an all inclusive all be it a bit cold. Service in the restaurant was excellent. We made the mistake of using a nearby ashtray on the beach and faced the wrath of the Beach Service attendant and the hotels masseur (the only one) Both were very aggressive and angry. This meant we did not visit the beach again, it also meant we did not use the hotels spa services, which were not as sold. Very disappointing. It is a big part of our holiday to have regular massages but unfortunately due to the very aggressive masseur we did not once. They lost quite a bit of money because of this. So we went to the pool, nice area but the Lifeguard was of the same ilk as the other two, aggressive and angry, and very rude snatching towels back. Tip,if you are using the pool or beach you need to get a card from reception for the towels or face the angry grunts from the Lifeguard. There are no cushions on any beds so be prepared for a sore bottom and back if you are there all day. Most of the staff were pleasant but be prepared not to be smiled at, a lot. It was such a shame about the men there, it very much tainted our holiday with these three particular men. They were awful and intimidating. I very much doubt we will return. I think this hotel could be great but sadly it is not. Location is great for a nice stroll to the old town."

"Nice hotel, if a little tired. Food was great every day, puddings were excellent. Could probably do with more staff especially the restaurants where they were struggling to re lay the tables. A lovely holiday for pool and the local town. Not much beyond that as the distances to various sightseeing areas are long."

"A wonderful, quiet and cosy hotel. You’re given a very warm welcome, as if you were special guests. The rooms are clean. Chris, the owner, is very friendly and attentive. He’s always there to help if you need it and happy to offer advice or recommendations. We were very pleased with the hotel. The location is also convenient. The most popular little restaurants and a grocery shop are nearby. It’s not far to the beach or the Old Town either. The breakfasts at the hotel are homemade and delicious. We’ll definitely be back there again someday :)"

Mirage Hotel ★★★
"We were a little apprehensive before we flew out due to the negative reviews on here. However, absolutely no reason to have been! We are still here now and having a lovely time. Hotel is exactly as you see in the pictures. If you feel that it looks dated and the colour scheme doesn't suit then don't book. Rooms are bright, fresh and cleaned daily and our room had definitely been modernised as fittings and bed fittings felt new. Our cleaner is lovely, friendly and does a thorough job. Fresh towels every day. Yes they are thin but do the job and personally I wouldn't want a big fluffy towel whilst I'm on my summer holiday! Hotel staff are nice but a little reserved. Try saying hello, good morning and thank you to them and they are full of smiles. Breakfast is plentiful. Other reviews have said inedible. I would say that's going a little far. Lots of choice. Fresh fruit, bread, toaster, continental meats and salad, pancakes, fresh honey and yes English breakfast products! Now the English breakfast range is not great but the hotel have tried to cater for everyone. This is not an all English hotel it's multi cultural. I would say the English part of breakfast was the only disappointment in the hotel which is good going really. You would have to be extremely fussy if you can't find something to eat here and that comes from someone who has family members with allergies and even they would find something to eat. Other reviews mention seagulls. OK so Nessebar does have seagulls (surprise surprise - it's by the sea!) But this morning I observed 5 cleaners and a pool man cleaning around and in the pool at 8am. They wash down all the sunbeds with a brush and hose and the floors around the pool area. What more can they do? The seagulls don't fly around you during the day and don't come near the pool until people have gone. Pool area has free and good quality sunbeds and view over the beach. No fighting for sunbeds. Some people were reserving at 8am but really no need. We went down on first day at 10am and got front row overlooking the sea and lots more available around the pool. We had a Seaview room overlooking the pool and had a beautiful view as far as the old town. Comfy double bed, excellent air conditioning and the sound of the sea right outside. Beach right in front of hotel is a long gorgeous sandy beach with loads of sunbeds. Cost 15 euro for 2 beds an umbrella and a table. Payable in cash to sunbed man. Beach is cleaned every night and morning. Tractors sweep the beach in the evening and all sunbeds are put back in place. In the mornings there are beach cleaners who come round and litter pick where needed. Old town is absolutely gorgeous. We walked into the old town along the seafront in about 20 mins. You can also walk via the new town and road if you want. We have walked into old town most nights. Loads of restaurants and bars and good price even seafront restaurants. Local restaurants near the hotel are nice. Almost every day we hav"

"Stayed in a superior double room with balcony for 3 nights. Receptionist checked us in efficiently, but she was not particularly friendly . The same girl was there when we checked out, eventually, when she decided to come in from talking to someone outside. She asked me if there were any problems but when I told her about something she simply shrugged her shoulders. The room is fine, bed was comfortable and good air con. The shower was really good and powerful, however one of the shower doors was missing ( actually it was leaning against the wall outside in the hallway - maybe the maintenance person was on holidays ). But the water wasent going all over the floor either. Also the biggest problem with the shower is that the water fills up very quickly in the shower tray so I had to keep stopping and starting while I waited for the water to drain away. The sink didn't appear to be secured well, if you leaned on it, it looked like it would fall off the wall. Breakfast is next door to the hotel, and was very continental. Dishes that looked like spaghetti based, maybe 2 choices of cereal, melon and some fruit. We had some toast and coffee ( coffee was good). But I didn't notice croissants or pastries etc. We only had it the first morning and didn't bother getting up to have it after that. Good supermarket right across the street. Also a few fast food stalls/booths. The bar across from the hotel seems to have Bulgarian singers most nights - definitely not our cup of tea, and resulted in us retreating in from the balcony to avoid hearing it ! Obviously that's our problem and nothing to do with the hotel. One BIG thing to note in case you don't realize from the description , even though it is mentioned, is that there is no lift, so if stairs are an inconvenience for you, this is not the hotel you need. It's only a few minutes walk to flower street. To sum up our stay , it was adequate, but I would probably not return. "

Aquamarine Hotel - All Inclusive ★★★★
"Everything was above expectations, we were a bit worried reading some reviews but our experience was fantastic. The hotel was exceptionally clean, and thoroughly cleaned everyday, the food was good, 2-3 main courses, 3-4 side dishes, fish everyday, fresh salads, veggies and fruits, we always found something to our taste, the kids too. the drinks were decent, the beer was cold and to our surprise, the pool had great water temperature, which we NEVER found in Bulgaria! The water is usually terribly cold in the pools, but not here, this was the best surprise ever. There are more than enough sunbeds, and the kids pool is fun even for adults 😁 The all inclusive part is great, you can always find drinks or a snack during the day. Quiet at night and confortable, big enough, beds. I've read people complaining about air conditioning, we had no problem whatsoever, it worked perfectly. A bit far from the beach but we enjoyed the walk everyday, it's a nice one trough the wild sand dunes (stroller friendly). The water is shallow enough at the beach so kids can safely play in. Exceptional value for money. We marked this vacation as a great one and plan to return. PS: There's all you can eat ice cream at lunch and dinner, the kids loved it even tho we didn't let them eat all they could eat 😅 and they even have animation for kids."

"We had a lovely stay and would definitely come back. There weren't many British guests staying, but that actually made for a really nice mix of nationalities, and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. We also loved that there weren't loads of unnecessary rules – everything just felt easy and stress-free. The pool was great, especially for families, with brilliant slides for the kids. We never struggled to find a sun lounger, which was a huge bonus. The food at Captain Duck restaurant was excellent. Everything we tried was delicious, the prices were very reasonable, and your first visit comes with a discount, making it even better value. The rooms are a little dated, but they're spotlessly clean, cleaned every day, and to be honest, you're not in them for very long anyway. The location is ideal – close enough to the strip, bars and restaurants to walk easily, but still peaceful. It was also very straightforward to keep our room on for a late departure, and it only cost us €12 to get to Nessebar. We got a fantastic deal for our stay and felt it was excellent value for money. We'd happily return, and next time we'll definitely be bringing the kids!"
