"I had dinner at the hotel and I did not realize that the waitress made a mistake and charged my credit card in US dollars instead of 33.990 TZ shillings. An hour later, the waitress knocked my door and told me about the mistake and that they would reverse the transaction in the morning. It took the hotel 2 days to sort that out with their bank (NMB Bank). I spent about US$500 on international phone calls with my bank in SA so that they undersand the problem and help me solve it. After a long struggle, I got my money back after 25 days. I am writing this to alert tourists who visit Tz. Please look at the credit card machine to ensure that the correct currency is being charged before pressing the buttons. Scrutinize the receipts that you get and keep them until you get home. Regardless of the nerve-racking experience that I had, I would like to thank the Kibo Palace Hotel administration and staff for their honesy (admitting the error) and for the great efforts they put forth to ensure thae reversal of the reve money as they had no experience with this issue before. Everybody at the hotel was sympathetic and very supportive. Every now and then they contacted me to see if I got the money or not. My advice to the hotel is to train their staff especially waitresses/waiters in using payment machines, and even improving their English to avoid such mistakes and hastles. I wish the accountant tooke me with her to the bank so that I know exactly what is going on so that I give solutions or ask my bank for solutions. if I come back to Moshi, I would definitely stay at the Kibo Palce Hotel and enjoy Mt Kilimanjaro views."

"This hotel is used a lot by people who want or have climbed the Kilimanjaro. And to me that gives it a good atmosphere. Because there are also people travelling solo, it is easy to make contact and have a nice conversation. The quality of the hotel and rooms and food is absolutely fine. Only the water of the swimming pool was not in balance because my hair got a green colour. Which I removed at home with baking soda."

Unfortunately for him, I had everything written down; it had already happened in other reviews. This is unacceptable. I should point out that the restaurant is very good, but incredibly expensive for the area, $15-20 per dish, which becomes euros on the bill. If you pay by credit card, he looks askance and then charges 4%. Not recommended; beware of extra charges and scams."

"Best Value Guesthouse! First of all, the room was clean and comfortable. It had a fresh and tidy feel, and I slept very well. Since it was the off-season when I stayed, I was able to use the room all to myself. Friendly and helpful staff They kindly assisted me with SIM card setup and gave useful advice. I actually lost my key during my stay, but they quickly replaced the lock, which was a big help. Delicious food at the rooftop restaurant There’s a restaurant on the rooftop, and the food was great! It was also a nice place to meet and talk with other travelers, which made me feel at ease. If you’re looking for a clean and affordable place to stay in Moshi, you can’t go wrong here. "The front desk friendly, the restaurant service ok but if you ask for hot water upon check in that’s a fees. The restaurant  staff said that’s a kettle in your room.  If you insist the hot water saying lazy to boil in the room that’s a fees will be charged. That’s no lift at this hotel. The room ok clean. The towels in the room looks white & clean but sticky. I used my own travel towel. Noisy at 6am because breakfast serve. The noises travel up. Aircon in the room are noisy. That’s a pool."

"We stayed 4 nigths in this lodge. Room was fine, clean and includes a private bathroom with shower. Gabriel is your host and ensures that your stay is pleasurable. Takes the time to host you and is willing to organise various activities. Breakfast is well taken care of and dinner menu somewhat limited in choice but ok. Lisa takes care of you. We had a great view from our room towards the Kilimanjaro mountain, however one needs some luck to see it due to the cloudcover in the area."

"The most beautiful brand new hotel (looks like a villa) with the kindest, most helpful staff. We stayed here 3 nights on either side of our Kilimanjaro trek. Rooms had hot showers (from 7ft+ rain shower heads), powerful AC, black out curtains & TVs. The grounds contain a large & extremely clean pool, grassy area, restaurant & bar. "I thought it was a new B&B, but it's actually been around for quite a while. The room was reminiscent of a 1990s hostel. The clock wasn't working, the mirror faced the bed, and there were no bedside power outlets. The bathroom water was inconsistent, running hot and cold, and wouldn't drain. There was no elevator, so the waiter had to lug my luggage up to the second floor. The restaurant was slow to serve, and there weren't many other options nearby. Since I was only staying for a few hours, it was fine. The waiters were friendly and welcoming, and the common areas were well-appointed. The value for money is quite good for the area, so I couldn't ask for too much."
