"Absolutely fabulous stay! The staff are welcoming and hospitable. Michael and Megan are great hosts and can be very proud of their team. Emma and Will are fabulous! Nothing too much trouble, advice on area and local knowledge a bonus! The chefs, Paul, Scott and Steve (+Michael!) serve great food! Our en-suite room was clean, quiet and serviced daily. Breakfast is cooked to order and delicious. If you come back from a days adventuring .. bring an appetite! The evening meals are fabulous! Overall a great stay! Thank you to the team at The Granby Inn!"

The Haven ★★★★
"Thoroughly enjoyed our week's stay here. Very clean and comfortable accommodation and plenty of choices on the breakfast menu. A welcome pot of tea and scone with jam and cream on arrival. Roz and Ian were friendly and very accommodating and made several suggestions of places to eat. I recommend Little Italy, an Italian Pizzeria and takeaway (twice we took Lasagnes and Pizzas back to eat at The Haven) and The Turks Head (where we ate three times)."

The Bridges B&B
"I stayed for one night at The Bridges and wish I had stayed longer. The Bridges is a delightful B&B and Lesley and Steve are very welcoming hosts. The house is beautifully decorated and feels homely and my room was perfect, smelt lovely and had everything you could wish for: a very comfortable bed and pillows, crisp clean bedding, a variety of teas, biscuits, chocolate and bottles of water. I always look forward to breakfast and it did not disappoint. Everything is beautifully laid out and there is lovely music in the background. There is enough to set you up for the rest of the day: fresh fruit, fresh juices, cereals and dried fruit, fresh toasts and preserves and a lovely cooked breakfast. Breakfast is served in Lesley and Steve’s beautiful dining room. The Bridges is a great base to explore Northumberland and the perfect place to come back to after a busy day. Your hosts will give you recommendations of what to do and where to eat. I highly recommend it."
The Wellwood Arms
"Shouldnt have expected much for two meals @£23. However to receive a meal and warned it's just come out of the oven.. as in pinged.!! The meat below the topping was tasteless, the vegetable accompaniment was bland.. The reviews are a mixture but from my experience I'd rely on the honesty of the lower rated."
Bertram's
"Lovely property situated in the middle of a beautiful village, free parking nearby. Delicious lunch in the courtyard in the sun, and a delicious meal in the restaurant in the evening. All staff very helpful and super friendly. Our room was a little on the small side, a little noisy during the day as above the kitchen so could hear all the conversations going on there, but very comfortable and had a great sleep. The dinner bed and breakfast package was good value. Would certainly recommend to anyone wanting to stay in the area for sightseeing, the castle and river only minutes away on foot and a short drive to the glorious beaches."
Fairfield House
"One of the loveliest places I’ve ever stayed! The house is absolutely beautiful and the hosts are wonderful. Our room was cosy and had everything we could have needed. Breakfast was superb - the best cinnamon toast I’ve ever had by a mile! Hope to be back soon."
Barnacre
"We booked a week away as a family and the house suited us perfectly. Plenty of bedrooms- bathrooms and all on one level. The house itself is perfect with good quality furnishings and fittings and we were delighted. Until the third day!! And from then on I have to be honest and say we were , and still are, extremely disappointed. The gas fire in the small lounge was making a very strange banging noise which was getting louder. I phoned for the owner who came to take a look. She was extremely dismissive of the problem asking us what did we expect from a 35 year old boiler. When we said we were worried about it being unsafe she very rudely stormed out of the house saying “ I’ll turn it off then!” We had the rest of the holiday with no heat in one half of the property. I contacted Sykes Cottages on return and asked them to look into this and advise re compensation as we’d paid for a house with central heating and didn’t have any for half of our stay. The owner was and still is very unco- operative asking for photos to prove our point? How she thinks we can do that I don’t know. She is also claiming that we asked her to turn it off which is just not true. As we pointed out we were concerned about the danger of a faulty boiler. We are not a rude or impolite family and don’t expect to be treated in this way when we have paid quite a lot of money to stay in any property. I’m really sorry to have to write all this but have been left with no alternative. If you’re thinking of renting Barnacre just be aware of a very poor and unnecessary attitude from the owner."
