Waterford Lodge Hotel
"The prison had terrible food and service."
The Amble Inn - the Inn Collection Group
The Premier Lodge
"Good customer service could do with an update and new furniture I would not stay here again"
Macdonald Linden Hall Golf and Country Club
"Service and staff were excellent. Room was good but the bathroom was tired. breakfast was OK."
The Dock Hotel
"The room was clean and tidy with tea/coffee facilities Didn't stay for breakfast as they didnt start till 9am we had to leave for a journey had I known in advance the time of eating I wouldn't have booked here"
Anglers Arms
"We had a warm welcome at this beautifully situated riverside pub. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, the food and drink were excellent and our room was warm, quiet, comfortable and clean. The bar was used by local people as well as visitors from further away. There are lots of lovely walks straight from the hotel, and you can also fish for salmon in their own stretch of the Coquet. Our only very minor complaint was that the basin in our bathroom was a bit slow to drain. We'll certainly hope to visit again."
The Granby Inn
"Booked as a birthday treat for two nights. Only the twin room was available. Was expensive so thought we were in for something special, but the reality was an extremely tired looking room, with an ancient and mouldy shower, and a soap holder hanging down (how many times must the housekeeping staff have seen this yet not got maintenance to fix it)? Had an air of the staff having lost interest in the accommodation and guests ' experience . Owners need to give this room some serious attention. It was like going back in time and staying at granny's place, with the dated bedroom and neglected and scruffy bathroom. Food in the restaurant was good and we ate there both nights. Shame the standard of the dining experience didn't carry through to the accomodation."
Turks Head Rothbury
"Great accommodation, comfy bed and good facilities. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend."
The Haven
"We only stayed 2 nights, wish it had been longer! Ian was very welcoming and advised us where to eat. The room was very clean and nicely furnished. Location was really quiet, yet within easy reach of Rothbury on foot. There were good views over the town. Breakfast was excellent, with plenty of choice, all freshly cooked."

The Wellwood Arms
"We stayed here for one night on our way up to Scotland as it was half way for us. Good price for the night which also included breakfast. Room (number 1) was a good size with double bed, bathroom, shower (with good pressure and nice products), TV and plenty of different teas and coffees. Everything was clean (the carpet seemed quite new) although the duvet was a bit rubbish (like a lumpy mess) but the bed was comfortable enough to sleep in. We had already eaten on the way but I went downstairs to ask if I could order dessert for the room which they happily said yes to! I ordered the warm cookie dough and took it back to the room but after eating a bit realised it was actually the brownie they'd given me which was £2 cheaper than I'd paid for (and smaller, as the cookie dough said it was for 2 to share). The brownie was still nice but by the time we'd realised it wasn't what we ordered we were too tired to go and try change it and wait. Breakfast was really good. We had pre-ordered the night before from a menu. Lovely quality ingredients, and the woman serving was really polite and helpful. Not sure what the brand of apple juice was, but it looked cheap from the carton but was actually really lovely (like a premium cloudy apple juice) The downside was the noise in the room. There was some sort of extractor fan outside the room which turned on an off randomly. It was quite noisy but didn't disturb our sleep too much. But some people staying in one of the other rooms made a crazy amount of noise from 23:15 until well after midnight. They were going back and forth along the corridor outside our room multiple times (for no apparent reason). At one point they even tried to get into our room which was scary. And one of them had gone downstairs without a key and came back up and was knocking for a while on the door outside the corridor. I would recommend the doors/windows be replaced to be more soundproof which would help the noise from the outside fan as well as inside noises from other guests."
Bertram's
"I had a lovely large room with a very comfortable bed and an excellent bathroom with great toiletries. There were several extras including a small fridge with fresh milk and cold drinking water & lots of coffees and tea varieties . The breakfast was exceedingly generous and delicious , setting me up for the day . The accommodation is within easy walk to the dunes and the beach or along the river .Although there is no on site parking ,there is plenty nearby . The staff were very friendly and helpful .I will definitely choose to stay there again ."
The Bridges B&B
"Our hosts, Lesley and Steve, welcomed us into their home for a 7 night stay. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Everywhere was clean, tidy and tastefully decorated. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice and some little extra surprises due to our long stay. We cannot thank them enough for making our holiday just that little bit more special. Highly recommended."
Fairfield House
"Excellent in every way. Lots of little touches on top that make this exceptional. Only complaint is that it has set such a high standard it has spoilt us for any B&B stay anywhere else. Recommendations for evening meals in Warkworth & Amble were spot on. "
The Postman’s Hut — a stunning, newly refurbished retreat in the heart of Amble.
Barnacre
"We booked a week away as a family and the house suited us perfectly. Plenty of bedrooms- bathrooms and all on one level. The house itself is perfect with good quality furnishings and fittings and we were delighted. Until the third day!! And from then on I have to be honest and say we were , and still are, extremely disappointed. The gas fire in the small lounge was making a very strange banging noise which was getting louder. I phoned for the owner who came to take a look. She was extremely dismissive of the problem asking us what did we expect from a 35 year old boiler. When we said we were worried about it being unsafe she very rudely stormed out of the house saying “ I’ll turn it off then!” We had the rest of the holiday with no heat in one half of the property. I contacted Sykes Cottages on return and asked them to look into this and advise re compensation as we’d paid for a house with central heating and didn’t have any for half of our stay. The owner was and still is very unco- operative asking for photos to prove our point? How she thinks we can do that I don’t know. She is also claiming that we asked her to turn it off which is just not true. As we pointed out we were concerned about the danger of a faulty boiler. We are not a rude or impolite family and don’t expect to be treated in this way when we have paid quite a lot of money to stay in any property. I’m really sorry to have to write all this but have been left with no alternative. If you’re thinking of renting Barnacre just be aware of a very poor and unnecessary attitude from the owner."
