Monchique Resort & Spa
"Great resort. Really quirky to get around. Great staff and facilities."
Central Monchique Hotel - Villa Termal Spa Resort - by Unlock Hotels
"The spa is being renovated, but it was still fine. Unfortunately you can’t book the spa for more than two hours, which is too rushed for saunas, including relax time. Monchique is nice for hiking, but the extensive trails were being reconstructed because of storm damage. Only short trails. The hotels at the spa apparently belong to only one hotel complex. The older ones are classics and closest to the spa. The new, modern one has a better view, but more expensive without being any better (except new) because a farther walk to the spa. The service is friendly, helpful and professional. 24 / 7 The restaurant is not cheap, but not bad. The service has Brazilian personnel and music, and has the same friendly flair. To get to the town of Monchique, it’s necessary to take the bus because the walking paths don’t go all the way there and walking on the narrow highway is very dangerous and also the location of extensive construction. It would take a several hours, at least a half day / one-way to walk there. There is a ruined church / cloister on a mountain in the town Monchique to visit, with a very friendly caretaker who loves to show people around for free. The monastery fell in the earthquake of 1755. However it’s better to stay overnight at the spa because it’s very calm, quiet and clean. Turn off the ac, it makes a lot of noise. You can usually find a good deal on the various third party portals, off season special."

"3-day stay to get to know the region and some disappointment in the mix. I've been to everything from simple guesthouses to 5* hotels and although I'm not a person to pay attention to details, when we book a 4* hotel for a special occasion we obviously expect a decent service. Well, the attached photographs speak for themselves, from glass found in the toilet (subject to cutting us), to an unpleasant sewage smell coming from the air conditioning, we had anything but a 4 Star experience. It is also worth noting that there is some very annoying noise at night, due to the fact that the rear doors are open for anyone who wants to enter, which represents a glaring lack of security. We heard people screaming in the hallways during the early hours of the morning. The Wi-Fi network in the rooms below was practically non-existent. The stay itself was average, due to the fact that the room had adequate conditions (comfort and convenience) and a breakfast with a lot of variety (I suggest using local products instead of buying them at the supermarket). Our idea was to use the thermal spa before leaving, but the service was so arrogant that we decided not to even step foot there. In short, if you have ideas of getting a 4 Star Hotel experience, I do not recommend booking at this hotel. Although the experience was not negative, I believe there is a lot of room for improvement. Your region deserves much better."

"Waste of money. I’m currently here now and after paying a fortune, they say we have to pay 15euros to access the spa. Okay fine, now we go to the spa and they say it’s 15 euros for 1.5 hours. They say it’s on the website but I searched everywhere çant see that. We also paid extra for a Luxury room and they only give coffee in the Suites which are 500 euros. Do not come here."
Casa Spa d'Alma
"What a beautiful place and warm reception. Beautiful rooms, large garden and fine jacuzzi. From the jacuzzi it is beautiful star view. Breakfast was super with many products from its own land. From the B&B, both experienced and less experienced walkers are able to make beautiful walks. Good base for, among others, the fun city of Lagos."
Casa da Colina - Next to Caldas de Monchique, superb views!
