Clodagh Manor House by Seven Angels
"Mr Kasun and the Manager Mr Wijitha have been very attentive, polite and caring staff at this villa. It is very secluded, but this is a big plus, because the nature around make you feel like in paradise. The entire premise is designed beautifully and the interior is outstanding classy. I recommend to get up with the sunset and enjoy the view and most importantly the sounds of the birds, monkeys and peacocks."
Aliya Resort and Spa - Thema Collection
"Service was good. Facilities can be improved. Poor lighting in the rooms. Hand towels can be provided. Rooms can be checked to ensure that every thing is working well before the guests move in. Quality and taste of food need to be improved."
Elephas Resort & Spa
"Spacious rooms with privacy, peaceful vibe, pool access, tasty food & kind staff. Perfect family stay and great value for money"
Kassapa Lions Rock
"We reserved two adjoining rooms for two of our families and it was such a pleasant stay from start to finish. The hotel is so well kept with lot of greenery around. The two swimming pools were amazing. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing. The staff is super friendly and they surely made us feel ilke home. We would definitely come back."
Hilltop Retreat Matale
"Super friendly and helpful host. Yummy food and wonderful service. Beautiful surroundings. Highly recommended"
Ashburnham Estate
"We stayed here as 2 adults 2 kids (aged 10 and 12) for 3 nights as a place to acclimatise coming straight from the airport. We really loved our time here. Swimming in the waterfall was magical and we loved the tea plantation tour. A great place to relax, unwind, enjoy the views and all the sounds and connect with colonial history. Staff super friendly and helpful. The Sri Lankan breakfast was amazing."
Walawwa Matale
"One of the best places to stay around Matale. A place with good facilities and not far away from the town. The owner has modified an old Sri Lankan walawwa and made something unique out of it for an affordable price. The price is reasonable and you can book the whole property for your group."
Lavendish Wild Safari
"This is a late feedback as we stayed here about two weeks ago, on 12th December. We visited Lavendish Wild Safari – Wasgamuwa as a group of six people on a full board basis and booked two triple rooms. The rooms were perfect, clean, and comfortable, with a lovely view. The hotel has a large area and a very relaxing atmosphere. It is beautifully located facing a lake and surrounded by nature, giving very calm and peaceful vibes. The pool was very clean and well maintained. The food was amazing and delicious, and the staff were incredibly friendly and always ready to help with a smile. The location is very close to Wasgamuwa National Park, and we also enjoyed the Wasgamuwa safari during our stay. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a peaceful stay surrounded by nature."
The Riverston Grand
"This is the BEST one and only place in Riverston. It’s worth for the money we spent for this hotel. We stayed in 189 degree view room and from our bed we could see whole mountain range and it was wonderful experience. Staff service is excellent!! Front office staff was very helpful and Geeth was very helpful with our all the requests. Food is excellent and they provided food we liked to eat and kitchen staff was fantastic. Our most liked food was the spinach soup!! Wow it’s so tasty. We highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Matale or Riverston. It’s a shame to miss this place."

The Paradise Dambulla
"The Iran/America conflict has reduced visitor number to Sri Lanka. However, the hotel staff laid on a fantastic service and made us feel very welcome. It’s a special place to visit with fantastic rooms, great food, a lovely atmosphere, attentive staff and numerous facilities."
SigiriyaJungles Resort & Spa
"May be we should rate this hotel higher but it is difficult to do so for the following reasons. The bedroom had rubbish under the curtains on the floor upon arrival which says that the room wasn’t cleaned properly The electrics were very poor - I tried to plug my phone into the socket next to the bed and the socket immediately fell off the wall, also, the hair dryer was stuck together with sticky-tape!!!! See photos. Next the swimming pool itself guests had been smoking and their used cigarettes were still there!!! This is very bad. I hate smoking and I hate used cigarettes, especially within 1-2 meters of a swimming pool. See photos. I did use the pool but on getting out I wanted to return to our bedroom with the towel around me - the pool man ran after me and told me that I wasn’t allowed to take the towel to the room, despite just getting out of the pool. Clearly he thinks guests cannot be trusted to take towels back to the rooms… does the hotel really think I want to keep a cheap towel?!?! On check out reception do not let you depart until your room as been checked in case you haven’t declared something taken from the mini-bar! Or may it was the towel! Some of the food at the buffet was cold, eg the kitchen brought out a new lasagne… but it was cold, ie very cold. Should we have complained… we were staying for two nights only and didn’t want to spend our valuable time doing so although we did point out the cleaning issue in the bedroom. However, other aspects of the hotel are good. They looked after dietary requirements very well indeed and the chef took a personal interest and this was very much appreciated. The actual swimming pool itself is lovely and the hotel grounds and general situation, and the hotel building itself is very nice indeed especially with the breeze flowing through the reception area. The hotel grounds are well maintained and there are golf buggies available to take you to your room."
Sigiriya Village
"It’s good if you want to experience living in a forest area. It’s very near some quaint little cafes outside the hotel facing the lion rock fortress aka sigiriya rock. If you are looking for 5 star hotel , it is not. It’s good for the locality, clean Very peaceful and pleasant place."
Heritance Kandalama
"It’s a fantastic facility where you can experience Bawa’s masterpiece. A complimentary architectural tour is available, so we highly recommend joining it."
Jetwing Vil Uyana, A Luxury Reserve
"Sublime experience at Vil Uyana. Everything was perfect. Staff were cordial and helpful. Our butler, Rushantha John, was par excellence. He made our stay very comfortable. Food was awesome. Try the Sri Lankan breakfast which was delicious. We stayed in a water bungalow which was really beautiful. Totally recommended."
Lakegala Resort
"Nice beautiful safe location. Beautiful beach. Friendly staff with good service. They acted flexibly in certain times according to customer's convenience.Meals are delicious. velie for money, we recommend this 100% Rooms are exceptional snd very clean."
Hotel Sigiriyaaya
"A wonderful hotel in a quiet location among rice fields. Peacocks and the sounds of the jungle. If you love nature and solitude, this is perfect! Just remember that there's no "civilization" right next door. The rooms are nice, clean, and comfortable. The reception is very warm. The breakfast and dinner were delicious! Thanks to all the hotel staff. Most importantly for those traveling by car, the road Google defaults to on the lake side is bad, full of potholes; we barely made it. The road on the other side, while rough, is much better. I've attached a map in the photo."
Ayugiri Ayurveda Wellness Resort Sigiriya
"We spent two weeks at Ayugiri Ayurveda Wellness Resort Sigiriya, and it was one of the most meaningful and transformative stays we have ever experienced. From the moment we arrived, the entire team made us feel welcome and cared for. The staff is genuinely kind, attentive, and professional. A special appreciation goes to the reception team for their constant support and smooth organization throughout our stay. The Ayurvedic kitchen deserves outstanding recognition. The cuisine was perfectly aligned with our individual treatment plans – light, balanced, healing, and full of natural flavor. Every meal clearly followed Ayurvedic principles and supported the cleansing process. This was not just healthy food – it was therapeutic nutrition prepared with knowledge and care. We are especially grateful to the two Ayurvedic doctors. On the first day, we had a detailed consultation, after which a personalized diet and treatment program was designed specifically for us. Throughout the two weeks, they carefully monitored our progress and adjusted therapies accordingly. Their approach was professional, precise, and very reassuring. Our daily schedule included treatments such as massages, herbal steam therapy, Shirodhara (three sessions), Virechana, and Panchakarma Basti – all conducted by experienced therapists under medical supervision. The level of organization and medical oversight gave us complete confidence in the process. The resort environment itself is beautiful – a peaceful green garden setting where monkeys and peacocks move freely, creating a strong connection with nature. The atmosphere is calm, quiet, and perfectly suited for healing and reflection. We also appreciated that the resort helped arrange guided excursions during our stay, making it easy and comfortable to explore the nearby cultural and natural sites while maintaining our treatment schedule. Morning and evening Hatha Yoga sessions were another highlight. The teachers, Master Rajapaksha and Master Suranga, guided us not only through physical practice but also introduced elements of Buddhist philosophy and mindful living, which added deeper meaning to the entire experience. Ayugiri is not a typical wellness resort. It is a place dedicated to authentic Ayurveda, discipline, and genuine healing. After two weeks, we left feeling lighter – physically and mentally. This was not just a vacation. It was a true reset."
Hotel Sigiriya
"Amazing rooms and unreal buffet” * Beautiful nature views (jungle ) * Very peaceful and unique design Best for: Relaxing + nature stay. Many travelers say the food and infinity pool are highlights"
Liyya Water Villas
"First, this hotel is in a very remote location, with nothing nearby, making it difficult to get around. Secondly, the hotel's design clearly shows a lot of effort, but it's not well maintained. We were moved four rooms in one day. Within 10 minutes of checking in, they told us there was a plumbing problem. After a long wait, they moved us to a different room type. After checking in, we still had no water. In the third room, large bugs kept dropping onto the bed and onto our bodies throughout the night, which was terrifying. We finally got our final room cleaned and changed after 10 PM. We finally got some sleep, but the next morning, the stationary hair dryer was broken again! We had our laundry done, and they told us we didn't need to iron it, only wash it. But when we checked out, they still charged us for the ironing! Luckily, my husband had texted them about our request via What's Up, and they were able to get rid of the extra charge. This completely delayed our plans for the better part of a day!"

Water Garden Sigiriya - 30 Chic Designed Private Villas Overlooking Sigiriya

Amaya Lake Dambulla
"We stayed for 2 nights at Amaya and we loved it. Food was good and so was the service. Staff were polite and nice."
Sigiriana Resort by Thilanka
"Loved this hotel, fabulous large room and ensuite, with separate walk in shower and bath. Good AC and working fridge, comfy bed. Fab scenery from balcony, looking out on paddy fields, snd amazing sounds from wildlife at night. Safe should be secured to some surface though, so it can't be lifted. Food was good standard, very similar to other hotels we visited. Pool area was super, nice amount of beds and tables and chairs, plenty of towels available. Bar was nice, good singer one night who took our requests and got us all up dancing. Bar staff were excellent, much quicker than in other places, and more than willing to learn how to make a Baby Guinness!"
Hôtel Niyagala Lodge Sigiriya
"We got very nice experience when staying here 1 night. The room was perfect for our family of 3. We just had to pay for the 3rd person's breakfast. The Logde located nearby the Lion rock and village, easy to find and go to the rock or the Gambulla city within 10min. The host Isuru was very welcoming from the start and made sure that we had all that we needed. ( hot water, drinking water, towels, AC, fan). We also really appreciated Mr Alain, a french gentleman resident in the sameplace! The room also had all the necessary for us to not be bitten by insects (scents and more). There was also a room for the driver at a very resonnable price. However we found the wifi a little weak, but else everything was good. In the surroundings it is peaceful, and we woke up to nice little sound of the nature and a well prepared typical srilankan breakfast and fruits! Delicious!"
Amron Resort Sigiriya
"During our road trip, I had the pleasure of staying at the Amron Resort Sigiriya. The owner and her family were welcoming, the room was cozy, and the location was convenient for visiting Sigiriya & Pidurangala. It was a perfect stop along my journey. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area."
