"First and foremost, the hotel's facilities, cleanliness, food, and service all meet the standards of a good hotel. The location is excellent, right in the heart of Nikolaos, just a few minutes' walk from the port and the local center. There's no on-site parking, but valet parking is available (free, tipping is optional). Almost all water tours depart from the port next door, making this hotel incredibly convenient. The scenery is stunning. However, Nikolaos is located near the easternmost point of Crete, about an hour's drive from the popular city of Heraklion and about four hours from Chania. If you're coming from the west specifically to stay at this hotel, public transportation is time-consuming, taxis are expensive, and driving is simply too arduous."

"We enjoyed our stay at NUMO, but overall it didn't exceed our expectations. The lunches were consistently excellent, but the breakfast experience could have been much better. At a 5-star hotel, guests shouldn't have to queue at a self-service station just to get tea or coffee. I also think the website should be updated to reflect that the evening à la carte restaurant is currently closed. I was already aware of this before arriving because I'd read it in another guest's review, but on arrival we were told it was closed for maintenance. Given that the resort is closed for six months of the year, it seems strange that this maintenance is being carried out during the peak summer season. We tried the buffet dinner on one evening but weren't impressed, especially considering the price of €35 per person. As a result, we chose to dine outside the hotel for the rest of our stay. The service at the bar was also disappointing, and it was surprising that pool towels weren't available until 10:00 a.m. each morning. The live music around the pool during the day was very good. Would be nice to have some evening entertainment/atmosphere. My biggest concern, however, was the cleanliness of our private pool. It was extremely dirty throughout the first few days of our stay. I raised the issue on the fourth day, and while a staff member did carry out a more thorough clean of the sides, the pool should have been maintained to a much higher standard from the outset. For a 5-star Curio Collection property, I expected much better attention to detail."

The hotel itself is beautiful, the food was simply fabulous, and the staff across every department were exceptional. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and they genuinely went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. Our swim-up room was amazing, the perfect place to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. And the floating breakfast was absolutely wonderful, such a special experience that we will remember for a very long time. What made our stay even more meaningful was how wonderfully the hotel helped us celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. "We have just returned from the best holiday we have ever had, we loved it so much here we are changing our next summer holiday that we have booked to here! The hotel is absolutely beautiful and clean. The sun beds are extremely comfortable, 3 pool areas with plenty of beds available at all times, never any rush to put towels down. The pool bar does lovely drinks and the food looked delicious however we didn’t eat there as we went out for lunch and dinner. Our room was fantastic, we just stayed in a standard room and it was perfect, the bed was the most comfortable we have ever slept on, fridge and air con were fantastic, water stocked daily. The only downside with the room was the people above us where extremely noisy, not the hotels fault at all, but at 4:30am one morning I did go to reception to ask them to keep the noise down, the staff were very helpful with this. A room tip if you are in the standard is ask for a first floor! Breakfast was amazing, a choice of eggs off the menu made to order and then a choice of bacon, vegetables, breads, pastries, yogurt etc. I found all the staff at the hotel were so friendly and helpful. The area itself is lovely, it wasn’t too busy for the height of summer, you can exit the hotel at the back and walk along to the harbour. There are so many lovely tavernas right outside the hotel. Edem is just over the road and was fantastic, we also went to Amelia which was great but we almost didn’t get a table as it was busy, Elia is another great taverna. The harbour is around 10-15 minutes walk away and there are plenty of great bars and tavernas, all amazing to watch the sunset. We can’t wait to come back next year!"

"My wife and I just returned from a 7night stay, and we loved it. The people working here, all the people, clearly understand that you get the basics right - and you work hard at that for sure - but then it's the little things that lift a hotel up to the next level. For example, we were arriving late and they had thought to have some nice fresh snacks in the fridge and a bottle of wine to welcome us. There is clearly a lot of work going on from housekeeping, to the care of the facilities, but it feels unobtrusive. I can't speak highly enough, and I do hope that we get the chance to stay here again."

"We had a good holiday overall and made some lovely family memories, but I don’t think this hotel quite lives up to its 4-star rating, particularly when compared with other 4-star all-inclusive resorts we’ve stayed at. To start with the positives, we really appreciated the hotel moving us to a different room after we raised our concerns. The management listened and did what they could to improve our stay, and we’re genuinely grateful for that. Our original apartment was very dated, with old dark furniture, a tired-looking bathroom, poor Wi-Fi and no air conditioning in the lounge where our family member was sleeping. It didn’t match the impression we’d been given online and was a disappointing start to the holiday. The food was always perfectly edible, and we never struggled to find something to eat, but the selection was quite basic and repetitive. We’ve stayed at several other all-inclusive hotels where there was much more variety, particularly at dinner, and a greater choice of fresh dishes. One thing we also noticed was the lack of service in the restaurant. We appreciate that buffet restaurants work differently to table service, but at other all-inclusive resorts we’ve at least been greeted on arrival, shown to a table or welcomed with a simple “good morning”. Here, it often felt like you simply walked in, found your own table and that was it. The staff worked hard, but the overall atmosphere felt less welcoming than we’d expected. The entertainment was a bit mixed. The Greek dancing night was excellent and one of the highlights of the holiday, and the aqua gym sessions were great fun too. However, outside of those, there often wasn’t much happening around the pool during the day. We would have liked to see more organised activities and entertainment for both adults and children, as there were long periods where very little was going on. Some evening entertainment also felt a little overhyped compared with what was actually provided. That said, the resort itself has some positives. The pools are nice, the views are beautiful, and the location is great for visiting Elounda and Agios Nikolaos. Overall, I’d describe the hotel as perfectly fine rather than exceptional. We enjoyed our holiday, but if you’re expecting the standard of a typical 4-star all-inclusive resort, you may find it falls a little short in terms of accommodation, food variety, cleanliness, atmosphere and overall attention to detail. With some investment and improvements, it could be a much stronger hotel."
