"After a delay due to the air traffic control problem, we finally arrived at 3am to the Mrs Chryssana hotel and were left in darkness at the bottom of the walkway to the hotel reception, to find it closed and our keys in an envelope taped to the reception door, so not the welcome we were expecting. On finding our room (105 on the first floor) we unpacked and read through the welcome note from the hotel telling us there were some snacks in the fridge as we had missed the evening meal (we had chosen half board). So as we were famished by that time we looked in the fridge and could not believe what we had been given..a large plate consisting of what had clearly been on the dinner menu that night, cold inedible chips, lamb chop, chicken wings, some sort of cubed meat in a sauce that had gone rock hard and fish that was unidentifiable, all stone cold and inedible. what a disappointment, note to the chef, some bread, ham, cheese and olives would have been better appreciated. Room 105 is directly above the downstairs refrigeration generator, the noise was horrendous so we did not get much sleep on our first night(we booked 14 nights) and requested a room change the next morning, which was sorted within the hour, along to room 103, what a difference! Thank you so much to the lovely lady on reception for arranging so quickly, So, Pros: Lovely location for a relaxing holiday, beach just across the road at the end of the hotel walkway, pebbly but we knew that before we chose the hotel. Rooms kept really clean, thank you to the super cleaning staff and a comfortable bed with good pillows Pool area very nice, clean and tidy, plenty of sun beds and parasols and towels provided Staff are friendly and helpful Breakfast is buffet style, varied and freshly cooked hot food as well as the usual continental breakfast items and local Cretan options Lots of different flavour tea to choose from, hot water and coffee is from a machine, fruit juices (not fresh but from powder concentrate so a bit watery but ok) Cons: Dinner in the evening was in the same dining room as breakfast but no effort to make the atmosphere even a tiny bit more sophisticated, (this is an adult only hotel) same disposable paper place mats as at breakfast, either very low or mostly no background music at all, most of the glasses were chipped and no nice lighting , even an LED candle on the table would have been nice Only 2 choices of red and white wine and 1 rose Food was unimaginative, even for a self service buffet it wasn’t presented well, not even any garnish Please take the fish fingers off the menu, we are grown-ups Desserts are clearly frozen and thawed which is fine, but please pimp them up a bit with some decoration, a bit of imagination needed After the first 2 nights there didn’t seem to be any lobby bar service in the evening while we were there Subsequently due to all of this we ended up eating out at the local restaurants in Kolymbari and one lovely sunset evening in Chania (Michali"

"Next time I go, I think I'll plan to stay a little longer. It was so comfortable and nice that I almost regretted my short stay. The pool was much longer and larger than it appears in the photos, and I was impressed by the design, which allowed everyone in the room to enjoy the pool close to home."

"The pool area is so lovely, with citrus trees and other beautiful foliage against a backdrop of the pink stone buildings of the hotel. We booked a family room made up of two interconnecting bedrooms. Ours was non- renovated and bathrooms probably show their age a little but we really liked it; high ceilings, grand wooden doors and shutters, along with stone borders to the windows and doors. Lots of character and it was great value. We’d stay here again for the pool courtyard alone — it’s very well done."

"Absolutely top-notch staff service! The dining was also superb, and the views were incredibly stunning. The only issue was that the elevator in the lobby frequently malfunctioned, getting stuck and not opening its doors unless someone pressed the button from the outside. As for hardware, the power outlets on the walls in the room were a bit loose. Other hardware was fine."

"We travelled to the Giannoulis Grand Bay Beach Resort staying for 11 nights with our son James and his partner Lauren. We had booked to stay in a Sea View Junior Suite and our son a double room. Unfortunately he had a problem with the air conditioning in the room and immediately they were upgraded to a Sea View Junior Suit by the professional Manager. We genuinely could not fault this Hotel. Zoe in customer relations was always there to great you and remembered your room numbers and names from day one. The Olive Oil evening overlooking the sea was wonderful as was the rooftop restaurant. Andreas in the pool bar was a top man who served the most amazing cocktails and was the most genuine guy. Kostas in the Lobby Bar was such a character and very friendly. All in all the staff really made our holiday the best trip ever! My husband and I had a massage whilst there and it was the most relaxing part of our trip. The food was the best AI we have ever had and the chefs work hard to prepare and maintain standards. I could go on and on about the POSITIVES of this Hotel especially the beautiful sunsets and sunrises but please go and experience it for yourselves I promise you won’t regret it. We will most definitely be returning 🩵"

"Nice hotel, not crowded. The most friendly staff I have ever met in the hotel, open, supportive and willing to help in all matters. The room was clean, spacious, with big terrace and beautiful sea view. Rocky but Blue Flag and clean beach, plenty of sun beds. Big swimming pool. Well equipped gym. Tasty Greek and international cuisine. For those renting cars, free parking on site. All that made our stay perfect."

"We spent a week at the While Pear Solimar hotel and I will remember this week with real pleasure. We wanted a place that would be quiet, pleasant, clean, where we could relax. That's exactly what happened. I must note that this was facilitated not only by the fact that the hotel is for adults only, but also by the fact that the season was getting started and attractions in the form of animations were to start only after a few days, which suited us very, very well. The rooms are quite small (at least ours, but it was ok) with a balcony both cleaned well everyday. Towels are replaced, bottles of water and tea are added every day as well (there was a kettle in the room). The hotel is right by the sea, which is extremely pleasant because of the views. Hotel jest dobrze zaplanowany architektonicznie, otoczenie jest ładne i zadbane.There are sun loungers by the pool and also on the beach (although there are fewer of them). The food fresh and varied, of course olives and feta cheese are very tasty, excellent Greek desserts ( the creteanian orange cake is wonderful!). The only thing I would like to have differently is the coffee/tea situation at lunch and dinner. I like having my dessert with a cup of coffee and the fact it was only available at the bar (where the food from a restaurant is not allowed) not in a restaurant was a bit annoying. The staff is very kind, helpful and I felt they care about the guests and maintaining this place with the best standard they can.Keep it up ! My special thanks to Maitre D’hotel, Mr Sifis and everyone working at the restaurant and at the bar – always kind, helpful, attentive, communicative and smiley. "I stayed here in September for 4 days with my partner and my 1.5 year old baby. Studio equipped with everything, they gave us a triple (even though the baby slept with us), small but functional kitchen, nice big pool! Friendly and helpful staff. All at a great price! Recommended!"
