Clarion Collection Hotel Packhuset

Kalmar|0.63km from downtown
I don't even know, I should remember the shortcomings. Probably, the lack of a refrigerator/minibar in the room. And the number of meters 15-18, but it is not a surprise. In the rest - complete advantages. Location right on the sea, with a terrace along the whole facade (on the style you can reach the shopping center next, and further to the university). View to the yacht port and a little further - to the shopping. Great, not boring! To the station five minutes of unspeed walk. To the famous castle - 15. A great sleep. Sound isolation is normal, pillows are different on the amateur. The room is warm despite the weather (I was winter). Water from the tap is drinking, and it is delicious. The service is quick and unnoticed. The rooms do not clean and the towels do not change without request and do the right thing. Breakfasts are good, 2-3 day can be eaten without repeating. Maybe there is not enough seed or this kind. There are even an arbuz and ananas. There is also an early dinner in that restaurant (17 to 20:30), also a Swedish table. From the restaurant, of course, also an exit to the terrace to the water. But the most important is style! For it plus a point. It is a former warehouse or something. Old designs are partially preserved. The ceilings are, however, low, but it does not tense and even strengthen the comfort. And a wooden promenade with a way out to the yachts and to the city center! ... In short, I was delighted.

A lovely little hotel. The rooms are basic but clean and perfect for us as we didn't want to spend all day in the hotel. Location was fantastic, it's a 10 Min walk (max) to the castle. Everything else is within 5 mins. Rooms - basic, we had a double room which was two single beds, pushed together. The beds were really comfortable. Little tip request a room near the back of the hotel, the morning deliveries and bin collection can be a little loud. The bathroom was very small, but had everything we needed. The shower was brilliant nice and hot and very powerful. Fresh towels were provided daily. The cleaning staff were great, they were alway happy to help. The room also had a hair dryer and desk. The sauna which is located near room 115 is brill, it's opened 3pm - 10pm. It's a decent size and very clean. There is also a jacuzzi however it was out of order during our visit. There is also a little sun terrace off the sauna and jacuzzi which is lovely for relaxing and people watching. The breakfast was fantastic, a really good buffet, much better than the ones UK chain hotels have. They also have a while range for vegan's, lactose intolerance, wheat intolerance etc there is something for everyone. The staff were amazing, they were all so friendly and happy to help. Jeanette in particular is fantastic, nothing was to much trouble. Jeanette helped us book taxis, sort rooms and anything else we needed. She is a superstar! Thank you Jeanette! Overall a basic but brilliant hotel that provides a great base to explore Kalmar!

We were recommended this hotel by a friend who lives in Kalmar and so we had high hopes for a nice stay. We had tried to book a room in the main hotel but unfortunately, it was booked out, so we opted for their budget accommodation in a building across the road. The photos looked nice. the main building was quite beautiful and we were greeted at reception with smiles and enthusiasm. Ebba, one of the staff gave us a brief and interesting history of the building and its original owners, so we felt like we were off to a good start. Our room was neat at first glance but noticed that it was sp****ly decorated and had no bedside tables, which we thought was a little odd. The bed seemed nice and comfortable which made us happy. After returning from dinner that evening we found a number of issues in the bathroom that seemed un-exceptable. The shower was extremely basic. The shower curtain was old, there was soap build up on the shower window and door, the shower soap was empty, the basin was loose and the glass shelf above it was also loose and rested on on angle. You had to put the glasses to the back of the shelf to prevent them from sliding off. We also found nuts of some kind on the floor under one of the chairs. What came next was greatly disappointing. Upon pulling back the doona on the bed we saw 3 silverfish skuttle across the sheet. Although we had a laugh, it was certainly not what we expected. Aside from that, we slept ok and the next morning we very much enjoyed the breakfast they had on offer. It was all very fresh and all very tasty. I went to reception as a coutesy to let them know the issues we had experienced and although the young girl wrote down what I told her explaining she would let management know, we were not offered an apology. That surprised me considering we are both seasoned travellers and have come to expect better. So when we arrived home I wrote a polite email to the manager detailing our stay and that although we recognise that sometimes cleaners etc can overlook things and just wanted to let them know of our disappointment. We received no reply. So I wrote to their facebook page and inquired if we would get a reply regarding our email. The post was read but again we received no reply. Sorry , but for an establishment that seems to have most of the boxes ticked in a stunning setting and friendly helpful staff, you do not win any points for your inability to show respect to a customer who thought bringing these issues to your attention would help. Someone needs to pull their socks up.

Very recommended to stay, cost-effective, the environment is very good. Beautiful environment, good geographical location, convenient transportation, comfortable and sanitary rooms, service staff are very enthusiastic, facilities are very humane, high-speed network signal is good, the view outside the window is good. The design of the room's small pendulum is also very distinctive.

Good location with only a couple of minutes drive over the bridge to Öland. Friendly staff. No AC in the rooms so can be hot in the summer and noisy if you open the window due to the high traffic on the highway which goes just outside. Very dogfriendly hotell with dogs allowed in certain areas even at the breakfast. Good walking area just outside for you and your dog. Comparing price with renting a cabin at Öland we found the prices similar so stayed at the hotell and took the car over the bridge instead. Will definitly stay here again if / when we revisit Öland
