"This guesthouse exceeded my expectations! The location is super convenient, situated in Mangjing Shangzhai, close to the main road. The paths leading to it are smooth, so no dragging luggage over rocky terrain. Plus, the owner even offers pick-up and drop-off from the roadside. The room is spacious, and all the facilities are brand new, including a fantastic smart toilet. The balcony view is absolutely stunning; you can enjoy the sunset right from your room, which is incredibly relaxing. The owner is also very warm and friendly, always offering us snacks, tea, or even roasted milk. Highly, highly recommend!"

"I found an amazing guesthouse while traveling in Jingmai Mountain. It's absolutely fantastic, everyone! It's incredibly clean, and the owner is incredibly kind and lovely! Haha, he always greets me when I come back from my trip, so genuinely thoughtful. It's very relaxing, slow-paced, and Zen-like – just pure comfort, both physically and emotionally. In the evenings, we had a self-service barbecue with potatoes, oranges, sugarcane, sunflower seeds, and lychees – just chatting casually around the charcoal fire. For those who need it: This guesthouse is in Mangjing, but not in the heart of the village. However, it's within easy reach of anywhere, less than a kilometer away, and you can walk there. The front desk has a phone number for booking a car if needed. Most importantly, it's located on a slope next to the main road, giving it a very secluded feel!"

"We chose to stay in Wengwa, the least commercialized village, because we were driving there. The guesthouse owner was very kind and hospitable; he couldn't speak Mandarin clearly, but he kept making tea for us. The rooftop offered an unobstructed view of the sunset and sea of clouds—it was very comfortable. There was a small courtyard on the first floor where we could make tea and enjoy the breeze. It wasn't expensive, but it was so comfortable we didn't want to leave, and we stayed again the next day. You can walk to the village's viewing platform to watch the sunset, or you can watch it from the rooftop. The room was also very large and nice. The view from the window was great! 👍"

"Facilities: I didn't have high expectations for the accommodations in the mountain village, but I was pleasantly surprised. The room was quite clean, a little noisy with the window open, but quiet after closing it. The whole room had a smart smart speaker, the bathroom had a separate shower and toilet, and the shower had a very strong water pressure. Environment: It's about 700-800 meters from the Dazhai viewing platform, very convenient for watching the sunrise and sea of clouds. The rooftop view is also quite good, and I even got a stunning view of the starry sky from there. The hotel is right by the main road, making parking easy for those driving. You can arrange with the Jin Kongque driver in advance to drop you off at the hotel entrance. Service: The owner was warm and humorous, offering Pu'er tea. In the evenings, there was a tea ceremony with music performances. He even offered to drive us to other villages. On the way, we heard about his experiences returning to his hometown for love and becoming a pastry chef – it was like stepping into Versailles! Food: The breakfast was also good; the rice noodles and rice porridge were delicious. I forgot to try the coffee, but I'll try it next time!"

"I travel frequently and book hotels often, but I rarely leave reviews. However, I absolutely have to praise this guesthouse. It's located in Mengben Village, the second village up Jingmai Mountain, and unlike Nuogan and Wengji, it's not overly commercialized. The guesthouse offers a peaceful retreat amidst the activity, situated near a Buddhist temple. We booked two 'Cloud View' rooms, and for two days, we truly got to enjoy watching the clouds from our beds. The owner was also incredibly warm and prepared delicious breakfasts for guests, making her own steamed buns and baozi, and even steaming fragrant and sweet Yunnan honey sweet potatoes. She also took us to a nearby viewing platform for tea and recommended great Dai cuisine restaurants nearby. On our first day, we even happened to catch the Dai 'Closing the Door' Festival. This trip was truly enjoyable, both for the experience and the food."

Guests tell us the location of this hotel is fantastic. For guests traveling with families, this hotel is consistently one of the most popular choices.

"The location is great, right in the center of the village. You can enjoy the sea of clouds and sunset from the second-floor tea room without even leaving. It's very relaxing, and the staff's attitude is quite good. However, there are a few drawbacks: 1. Although you can enjoy free tea in the second-floor tea room, it's a bit disappointing that there are no complimentary tea bags in the room. Even hotels not located in tea-producing regions usually provide tea bags in every room. 2. If the shower and toilet aren't separated, they should at least provide a pair of plastic slippers. Otherwise, wearing disposable slippers after a shower is very slippery and easy to trip. Not wearing any shoes isn't hygienic, especially since it's about 2 meters from the shower to the door."

This stay experience is particularly satisfactory, you must praise it. The room was cleaned very meticulously, there was no dust in the corners, desktops, and bathrooms, the bedding was dry and tidy, and the living was particularly comfortable. The hotel's supporting facilities are very complete, toiletries, charging sockets, storage space are all available, and it is very convenient to use. The breakfast buffet is rich in variety, hot dishes, noodles, porridge, fruits, drinks, the taste is online, can meet the taste of different people, breakfast is very satisfying. The staff is warm and polite, the check-in and check-out efficiency is high, the demand response is timely, and the attitude is gentle and intimate. It is convenient to park in the parking lot. You don't have to worry about parking spaces when you travel by car, and it is convenient to enter and exit. The location had great views over the valley, including the early morning sea of cloud. The property has a rooftop lookout that our group could get together to enjoy the view. It helped that our taxi could drive through the narrow road of Mengben village and deposit us and our luggage on the doorstep of the homestay. This is unlike Wengji & Nuogang villages, where cars are not allowed to enter the village but deposit visitors at the village carpark. The hospitality of the owner/hostess was remarkable. She had a Pu'er tea table and made us endless cups of different tea all grown in her farm, explaining their differences and virtues. She did not charge us a cent for the whole experience. Neither did she try to hard sell the tea leaves although we did buy a small amount off her because we enjoyed the tea. She is a good cook and whipped up breakfast and lunch for us.

The environment was very comfortable and relaxing. Beautiful view whwre you can see some of the sea of clouds. They give you disposable coverings for you to put on top of the fresh pillow bedding and mattress for extra hygiene which is a nice touch I haven't seen before. Bathroom is very clean, though there are only two toilets and two showers and two sinks, so do note that for busy season, but it wasn't an issue at all during my stay. They provided breakfast too, fresh milk the boss heated for me when I got up, and red sugar glutinous rice cakes wrapped in banana leaves (babas), and it was fun to get ready for the day with new friends on the balcony overlooking the village. I think the environment is very good for meeting new friends and other solo travelers- I arrived at the hostel randomly at the same time as three other girls, and we explored Manghong togetjer on the boss's recommendations for itinerary and sightseeing. And the next day the boss dropped us off at a tea roasting experience, and just as we were heading to Nuogan another girl from the hostel finished her tea roasting session, so we all went to Nuogan togetjer to play. The boss even helped load my luggage onto the shuttle bus so that it could pick me up at a sightseeing spot further down the mountain!

The most amazing place to stay in Jingmaishan! The rooms are fantastic, the tea sessions, and candies/snacks are a great touch, and the best part: the hosts. An amazing Bulang couple who know the ins and outs of tea, the mountain and its history. They are super helpful and do their best to accommodate English speakers. Moto rentals for a good price and a restaurant is right across the street from the hotel. Forgot to mention that you wake up to an amazing view of the mountains. If you had any hesitation about staying in Jingmaishan, let this post convince you to book your trip.

This is the first time I've felt compelled to write a review even before checking out. Let's start with the issues: 1. I called ahead to change my afternoon tea time and to book a morning activity. The lady who answered said she would confirm and call me back, and she took my number. I never received a call back before check-in. Luckily, my request was noted on the reservation. 2. After checking in, I was told there was a tea experience available on the second floor. The bellhop who brought my luggage said there was a voucher for it, but the front desk hadn't given me one (I'm not sure if it was actually needed). After helping with my bags, he enthusiastically offered to bring the voucher to my room. I even said it was okay if I didn't get it, but he insisted he would deliver it. Well... he never came back, no voucher, and no tea experience for me. Haha. 3. And then things got even more ridiculous. I had booked a Ba Duan Jin (a type of Qigong) session for 9-9:30 AM. I asked at the restaurant and was told it was on the second floor? They told me to ask at the front desk. At the front desk, they said it was on the fifth floor of another building and that I needed a shuttle bus to get there. Once we arrived, there was nothing there. Then they said it was on the first floor or maybe even the basement of the *original* building? A man came out and offered to walk us back... I told him we'd take the shuttle. After going back, another front desk staff member said it was on the second floor? They seemed quite reluctant but eventually led us there. Finally, we found the right place, did about ten minutes of it, and it was over. It was absolutely ridiculous; they really had no idea what was going on. 4. For a suite costing over 2800, having an obstructed view deserves a bad review (see images 1 and 2 below). It also didn't seem to be 100 square meters. 5. The service doesn't match the price. Many services weren't available, and there's nothing much around the hotel. The staff's service level isn't good; their attitude is pleasant but their professionalism is lacking. 6. The concept is excellent, the decor style is nice, and the space is large and aesthetically pleasing.

We had an amazing stay at the Guest House. It's situated a bit down from Wengji village centre : amazing view of the mountains and nights are very calm ! We really appreciated staying in Jingmai mountain region, a more preserved and authentic area, especially after having visited Northern Yunnan where we were sometimes disappointed.... We rented an e-scooter at Mangjing which was very convenient to visit villages and tea forests around. The family is very nice and helpful, we really appreciated discovering all these different teas : green, black, white, etc. And so happy to have bought some home ! Wishing you the best ! The first established hotel as you enter the mountains, with plenty of parking spaces right across the street, which is very convenient. It's a bit far from the attractions, so you'll need a car. They offer butler-style service; they'll contact you the day before to provide the address, travel tips, and other information. The hotel has a good variety of activities planned, including roasted milk tea, stir-fried melon seeds, and bonfires in the evening. The hotel's dinner was just okay, with plenty of room for improvement. Breakfast on the rooftop had a great ambiance and taste. The rooms aren't luxurious but are perfectly adequate. The air conditioning was a bit old and didn't heat very well. I didn't have time to experience the travel photography session. It was really expensive during Chinese New Year, haha.

All the reviews are true, but it’s not the wooden building that causes it.  Yes, it is very loud and you hear everyone. We’ve stayed in other fully wooden places, it’s worse here. Maybe not the wood but the guests are the problem. Loud Chinese people, walking the stairs with the heaviest pace you can imagine. Maybe help the other guests by hanging some warnings on the stairs: please be mindful for the other guests when walking to your room.  Also loud Chinese tourist on the square below. Not only while eating they scream all over the place, also with the tea ceremony nobody asks them to please stop talking after 23:00/24:00. We were up till 02:00AM because of tea drinking Chinese people at the fire. We stayed in the suite, which is located above the fire pit. Maybe the other rooms are less noisy. At 7AM each morning, somebody ran down the stairs. We think it’s the staff. It wakes you up through your earplugs.  The staff is OK. They are very shy, not rude. They could be more pro active though as we didn’t feel like they wanted to do something.. which is different to rude but also not very friendly.  The other villages around are way bigger and less cozy than Wengji. Also, with this guesthouse being just next to the town, it was perfect to escape the tourists most of the time. We didn’t find other accommodations in Wengji with the same aesthetics as Shishi guesthouse so we can’t recommend other places better than this. Maybe if the guesthouse would invest in trying to keep the noise down under the various guests, with text signs or with clearer house rules (fire pit), the noise problem wouldn’t be as bad.  Maybe if they tried to enthusiast their staff more and keep them from watching Chinese drama shows on their phones all day, they would be a bit more welcoming.  We’ve met a lot of amazing people in Wengji, it’s definitely not the locals that have this behaviour.  Lastly, the suite has a cubicle bathroom in the room, they really don’t clean this well. It smells very bad and just feels dirty all over.  For comfort this place is too expensive, for the location and aesthetics you won’t find better options nearby.

Location: Located in Mangjing, the hotel is easily accessible by bus, with stops readily available. Restaurants are within a few hundred meters, making it very convenient. Environment: While the room's decor is simple, its biggest advantage is a large window offering panoramic views of Jingmai Mountain. There's also a huge terrace, which I thoroughly enjoyed, witnessing the sunset and sea of clouds. Service: The staff was very welcoming. Upon arrival, they offered me a cup of herbal tea in the lobby, and always greeted me with a smile. Returning home at night, the brightly lit houses along the dimly lit country roads provided a sense of security. Suggestion: The breakfast selection could be more varied. Facilities: Disposable toilet seat covers were provided, and there was plenty of hot water. Even with the fan on at night, it was still quite cool. Cleanliness: There was a small stain on the toilet seat, and the common area leading to the terrace was somewhat cluttered. With better design and organization, it could be significantly improved. Summary: I initially thought this might be just an average guesthouse, but my stay was excellent. I highly recommend it; it's great value for money.
