"All the reviews are true, but it’s not the wooden building that causes it.  Yes, it is very loud and you hear everyone. We’ve stayed in other fully wooden places, it’s worse here. Maybe not the wood but the guests are the problem. Loud Chinese people, walking the stairs with the heaviest pace you can imagine. Maybe help the other guests by hanging some warnings on the stairs: please be mindful for the other guests when walking to your room.  Also loud Chinese tourist on the square below. Not only while eating they scream all over the place, also with the tea ceremony nobody asks them to please stop talking after 23:00/24:00. We were up till 02:00AM because of tea drinking Chinese people at the fire. We stayed in the suite, which is located above the fire pit. Maybe the other rooms are less noisy. At 7AM each morning, somebody ran down the stairs. We think it’s the staff. It wakes you up through your earplugs.  The staff is OK. They are very shy, not rude. They could be more pro active though as we didn’t feel like they wanted to do something.. which is different to rude but also not very friendly.  The other villages around are way bigger and less cozy than Wengji. Also, with this guesthouse being just next to the town, it was perfect to escape the tourists most of the time. We didn’t find other accommodations in Wengji with the same aesthetics as Shishi guesthouse so we can’t recommend other places better than this. Maybe if the guesthouse would invest in trying to keep the noise down under the various guests, with text signs or with clearer house rules (fire pit), the noise problem wouldn’t be as bad.  Maybe if they tried to enthusiast their staff more and keep them from watching Chinese drama shows on their phones all day, they would be a bit more welcoming.  We’ve met a lot of amazing people in Wengji, it’s definitely not the locals that have this behaviour.  Lastly, the suite has a cubicle bathroom in the room, they really don’t clean this well. It smells very bad and just feels dirty all over.  For comfort this place is too expensive, for the location and aesthetics you won’t find better options nearby."

"The first established hotel as you enter the mountains, with plenty of parking spaces right across the street, which is very convenient. It's a bit far from the attractions, so you'll need a car. They offer butler-style service; they'll contact you the day before to provide the address, travel tips, and other information. The hotel has a good variety of activities planned, including roasted milk tea, stir-fried melon seeds, and bonfires in the evening. The hotel's dinner was just okay, with plenty of room for improvement. Breakfast on the rooftop had a great ambiance and taste. The rooms aren't luxurious but are perfectly adequate. The air conditioning was a bit old and didn't heat very well. I didn't have time to experience the travel photography session. It was really expensive during Chinese New Year, haha."

"The location is great, right in the center of the village. You can enjoy the sea of clouds and sunset from the second-floor tea room without even leaving. It's very relaxing, and the staff's attitude is quite good. However, there are a few drawbacks: 1. Although you can enjoy free tea in the second-floor tea room, it's a bit disappointing that there are no complimentary tea bags in the room. Even hotels not located in tea-producing regions usually provide tea bags in every room. 2. If the shower and toilet aren't separated, they should at least provide a pair of plastic slippers. Otherwise, wearing disposable slippers after a shower is very slippery and easy to trip. Not wearing any shoes isn't hygienic, especially since it's about 2 meters from the shower to the door."

"A guesthouse with a story always evokes a sense of longing. Traveling solo, I always wanted to hear the stories of the locals, so for the last night of my trip, I booked this guesthouse on the way down the mountain. The guesthouse was located in the first village on the way up the mountain, on the side closest to the mountain view. Just by drawing back the curtains, I could see the clouds and mist; the scenery was no less beautiful than on the mountain itself. The owners, a husband and wife, were very welcoming. We chatted over tea, and I heard the story of the tree and three generations of their family. I felt the owners' simplicity and sincerity—a truly wonderful experience."

"Waking up early and opening the balcony door, I was deeply moved by the layers of mist, the sea of clouds, and the birdsong. There's no gym here, but Aileng Mountain is right behind the hotel, and a hike there is incredibly refreshing! There are many activities, and the companions were very enthusiastic. I originally wanted to hire a local guide, but the hotel took us on a hike to Wengji Ancient Village on the first day, and to Aileng Mountain on the second day (the 4km descent was perfectly manageable for a 4.5-year-old, who still had plenty of energy afterward). The stories told by Father Niula at the fire pit and the companions were also excellent~~ As for the room, the architecture and facilities are good, though some parts are a bit old, but it's not a big deal. It's truly great; I love hotels with a strong sense of experience and culture. It really embodies the idea of 'experiencing' things."

"As a photography enthusiast, this place is absolutely my dream shooting location. Every time of day offers a different play of light and shadow – misty mornings feel like a fairyland, the afternoon sun filters beautifully through the tea fields, and the sunsets are simply breathtaking and ever-changing. Inside the guesthouse, every corner is a photo opportunity, from the design-forward staircase to the stunning evening glow; every snap turns into a masterpiece. The staff were also incredibly thoughtful, telling me the best times and spots for photos, and even recommended some secret locations only locals know. My camera's memory card was full by the end of this trip!"

"The room was nice, with great natural light and a balcony. There was a small stream next to it, and the sound of the flowing water on the balcony at night could help you fall asleep (you couldn't hear it when the door was closed). The bathroom and toilet were spacious. In the evenings, there was tea and milk tea served over a hearth, along with peanuts, ground cherries, and roasted glutinous rice cakes. Listening to the landlady tell stories about the development and historical changes of Jingmai Mountain with other guests was very interesting."

"I originally planned to get full marks, but a chicken crowed at four o'clock in the morning until seven o'clock. I really didn't sleep well. The hotel environment is very good, the front desk staff is very enthusiastic and has a good attitude. The breakfast is also very rich. Except for the chicken, everything else is full marks."

There was another night, the proprietress invited barbecue on the balcony, and chatted with the next door until the early morning. , Transportation 🚗: The proprietress will call your master to make an appointment, which is very convenient, because even if you live in the stockade, you need to take a taxi to another stockade to run like this, and I think the other stockades are not as fun as the nearest one! The hotel is less than 20 minutes drive away (seems closer I don't remember) Anyway, I think it's the best to go to dry."
