Belle Virrey Finca Hotel ★★★★

"This finca looks very grand, and after a mid morning wine tasting at a nearby bodega we were so looking forward to an afternoon by the pool. Sadly the pool is located in a very a scruffy area in much need of daily attention. There were half finished wine glasses on every surface, and the pool itself was full of insects. We watched the father of a toddler do his best to fish out the worst of it, but surely not a job he should be doing on holiday? We arrived when the barometer was at 30. There was no water in our room, and an empty minibar. Dinner was a very lacklustre affair. The menu sound enticing but the food lacks vibrancy - my husband said his cod with mash was reminiscent of boil in the bag of childhood, and my pork with potatoes was beige, and crying out for green vegetables. By 10.30 the staff were making it very obvious we needed to vacate the outside restaurant area. Placemats were cleared as soon as the main course was done, and no offer of dessert or coffee was made. The staff were clearly exhausted and overworked. You cannot offer hospitality in that state. What a shame! This could be a great oasis, but currrently it represents very poor very value for money is a real disappointment. I would not recommend it and it is in urgent need of a shake up. Beautiful buildings and gardens but as a hotel it just isn’t working."

"Lovely quite hotel, central to the island so easy to visit most parts of Mallorca. Chema is a knowledgeable and very friendly host. The breakfast is really good. We are vegetarian and there was no problem catering for us. The swimming pool is great and we took advantage of it every day during our stay. There is a wonderful selection of restaurants in the surrounding towns of Sineu, Sencelles and Costitx. We had a lovely spacious room at the top of the hotel which was cleaned every day. We had a fantastic holiday staying at Agroturismo Ses Illes. Almost forgot – you will absolutely love the frogs in the pond at the front of the hotel, everyone stops to watch them!"
