Slaley Hall Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort ★★★★
"Very friendly staff, very clean."
Gallow Law Cottage ★★★★★
Langley Castle Hotel ★★★★
"We had a wonderful birthday weekend at Langley Castle. The grounds are stunning, and the location is perfect for exploring the Northumberland countryside and coast. We stayed in the Castle Lodge, which was excellent. Huge thanks to the staff, especially Aidan and Ellie, for being so welcoming and professional. Dinner at the Josephine Restaurant was a highlight—the birthday surprise (chocolate truffles!) for my partner was a very thoughtful touch. After a superb cooked-to-order breakfast and a guided tour the next day, we left feeling very impressed. Highly recommended!"
Travelodge Hexham ★★★
"We stayed for one night. A cheerful greeting on arrival and we were given information about our stay. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean and it was a good size room. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast had plenty of hot and cold choice and was decent quality. Our only negative was that the toilet space in the bathroom was somewhat snug!!"
Battlesteads ★★★★
"Comfortable room, nice selction of toiletries with pleasant scent. lovely food. Battlesteads was able to accommodate a pet dog ( pet pack also included) . Great selection for brealfast and tasty Ringtons coffee. This was a birthday break so only one night stay , Booked bed and breakfast, decided to add evening meal. The village of Wark is lovely to walk around, cross over bridge to football field one way and dog walk the other, weather helped make the stay as it was warm Autumn sunshine. Saw Grey Heron by the riverbank. Would recommend and would go again."
Hollybush Inn ★★★★
"Great stay, unfortunately only for 1 night. Lovely warm atmosphere in cosy bar with fire. Had a meal in the restaurant, again great service and food fantastic. Really friendly staff all round. A big thank you to everybody who made our stay relaxing and enjoyable. Definitely recommended."
The Railway Hotel ★★★★
"We were looking for a place to stay near to Vindolanda Roman site. The Railway Hotel in Hayden Bridge filled our requirements perfectly. From the first moment we spoke on the telephone, the warm welcome when we arrived, the excellent and well appointed rooms and the wonderful breakfast. Our hosts were so friendly and helpful, we can’t recommend highly enough. Dinner was great too. We loved the South African food. Five stars. Thank you for a wonderful stay."
Brown Rigg Guest Rooms ★★★
"Good location..clean rooms .. we have no complaints at all about our stay x"
George Hotel ★★★
"The hotel is in a very good location, convenient for visiting Hadrian's Wall and the surrounding countryside. There is a small river flowing next to it, and the scenery is very beautiful. The hotel is a bit old, but it is well maintained, and the bathroom seems to have been renovated. There are plenty of parking spaces in the parking lot. The breakfast is good, but dinner is not all-inclusive. You have to order it yourself, within 25 pounds, and you don't get a refund if you pay more, and you get more if you pay less, which is a bit unusual."

Shaftoes Guest House
"Lois and David are very hospitable and Lois made us feel very welcome when we arrived. There is a real cosy feel to Shaftoes. The room and common area for the guests are very clean and Lois has some great ideas for making your stay more comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, the bed was comfortable and there was a good shower. We used Shaftoes as a base to drive to Hadrians Wall and Vindolanda. We would not hesitate to stay again when in the area. Thank you!"
Brown Rigg Lodges
"I had a great stay here recently. I spent 2 nights and was well taken care of. It’s a short walk into Bellingham where you can find cafes, pubs and groceries. It is also just off the Pennine Way. I stayed in the guest room building, which has a handy, communal kitchen. There are also self catering lodges. Hazel and Katie did a lovely job of looking after the rooms. This place is in dark sky country so there are spectacular views at night. I would be very happy to come back here!"
The Bowes Hotel
"A simply amazing stay. Firstly Ian and his team helped us remedy an error made by ******* on booking rooms at the Bowes hotel. Really friendly and interpersonal staff along with extensive knowledge of the area and further beyond particularly Hadrian's Wall path along with the Roman Museums and Forts. The food served was amazing aswell, better than some other independent restaurants, also the Thai-cakes are a must try! The room is clean and tidy with a great buffet breakfast to boot, they also make lunch for your journey ahead. If you are staying at Bardon Mill, this is the place to be, just a walk away from the station that connects back to Newcastle. Friendly neighbourhood and locals that shares stories from their journeys and also fellow travellers from around the world mostly doing the Hadrian's Wall walk. I cannot fault this wonderful and cosy hotel and pub that is the Bowes Hotel!"
Fountain Cottage Cafe and B&B
"Had a late brunch here whilst on holiday. Very friendly staff and fantastic food, would certainly recommend."
Riverdale Hall Hotel & Leisure
"The staff were courteous and professional. All the meal served were all fantastic. The rooms are massive and good value for the money."
Anchor Hotel
"The room is very old and the bathroom facilities are very poor. It is not recommended to stay here."
Rose & Crown
"A group of my friends visited the Rose and Crown. It was suggested that e should pre-order which we did a few days before our meal. The menu is large but you can order with several changes to the menu. Two of us arrived at 6.15pm but the parking places were almost full. When most of us met up inside the inn a lady came to us and checked our orders near the bar. It would have been much better if we had been taken to our booked table rather than block the bar end. Some meals were in short supply yet we had pre-ordered. This meant some of my friends had to change their choice of meal. Eventuall we were taken to our table. Still more checksand alterations to somr chosen meals. I noticed that two couples who took up tables nearby yet ordered after us were uicfkly served by another waiter. Eventually our meals arrived. My gammon was a little over-cooked and dry as there were no moist, juicy areas. Most members of the group dine out once ot twice a week. In the majority of restaurants I normally only order one meal. I was taught in the 30s not to waste any food and I did National Service where so I still try to leave an empty plate. It is a long time since I ordered a dessert but I felt I had room for one. This surprised my friends. It is a long time since I last visited this village owned inn. The manager of this inn needs to get a grip of the inns management to cut out trivial changes from the menu to what you ordered. The meals are a little expensive and a shade smaller compared with other restaurants I have visited. Nevertheless I am pleased I and my friends supported the village owned inn."
The Queens Arms Hotel
"Absolutely perfect for a our family gathering, celebrating a variety of birthdays and anniversaries. A mix of rooms suitable for all ages and set ups (singles, couples and families), clean bathrooms, very well stocked with everything we needed to cook for all, stunning views, lovely walks and super helpful owners. Couldn't have worked better for us! We didn't stay in the chalet but went to look - very very cute and would love to stay there next time!"
The Coach and Horses
"Just passing through, we had lunch and drinks in the bar. Food was fantastic, generous portions, compliments to the chef. Lady behind the bar was brilliant. Service was excellent (thanks for the gravy on the side). Overall a very pleasant experience, would definitely recommend, and we’ll be back next time we’re in Hexham."
Rye Hill Farm
"Stayed here for 3 nights. Gorgeous B&B right in the heart of the countryside. Room was clean and spacious with lovely views - and so quiet. Lovely breakfast and Elizabeth is a great host. Plenty of parking and nice to walk around the farm and it’s setting"
