We really liked not only the unique location on the lagoon and the peace and quiet that comes with it, but above all the warm welcome and caring service from all team members. It was more like visiting friends than staying in a hotel. Many thanks to Lynn and Rory and all the others for their efforts. The small number of rooms and the attention and care of the individual team members made the visit to The Thatch House an unforgettable experience. The variety of drinks and the quality of the food were great. We will definitely visit The Thatch House again when we are back in the Hermanus area."

"This truly immaculate guest house on Grotto Beach ticks all the boxes. Great location, wonderful rooms, superb breakfasts and lovely staff. Lots of unexpected extras like a complimentary nightcap and chocolates. Worth every penny! Our only disappointment was that we could not get in for 2026!"

"The experience at Whale Rock was excellent from check in to check out. Pros (some not mentioned in description)... great breakfast and good options & Service 100%. We stayed in room 4, which was well furnished with a great view. The bed was super comfy. Pool area is great with areas of shade and sun at most times of the day. Staff are excellent and so accomodating, you could not ask for more. Cons If you drive to the hotel using Sat Nav, it can route you through a local "shanty" area, which can be a bit disconcerting, however be 100% assured this is not a problem, as with many places in many places around the world, just be sensible. Drive in and out, or use tuk-taxis after dark and you will be completely safe."

"Had 4 nights at west Coast Ocean Villa and apart from some building work going on next door it was faultless. Lovely room, beautiful host Aurelia was a joy every morning, overseeing the excellent breakfast service, and always offering conversation and local advice with a warm smile. A short stroll to the local beach and the Ocean Coastal path makes the location perfect albeit slightly out of Hermanus, a bonus for some. Contemplating a return visit soon!"

"We had such an amazing stay at Mulligans Guest Lodge and honestly didn’t want to leave! The rooms are huge, spotless, and beautifully put together – it really felt like a home away from home. Our room had a super comfy king-size bed, a cozy sofa, TV, and even a kitchenette with a bar fridge and coffee facilities. The bathroom was a dream – so spacious, with two basins, a big shower, and a bath that just begged for a long soak. What makes Mulligans Guest Lodge really special is its setting. From the stoep, you look straight out onto the golf course and mountains – so peaceful and beautiful. On the other side, the ocean is just a short walk away with coastal walkways – ideal for whale watching, taking in nature, and breathing in that fresh Hermanus air. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, and every morning felt like such a treat. The hosts were wonderful – so friendly and welcoming, and full of great advice on where to go and what to do in Hermanus. They really made us feel at home. The atmosphere at Mulligans Guest Lodge is calm and serene – the kind of place where you just want to sit outside, soak up the views, listen to the birds, and unwind completely. This place was such a special find, and I can’t wait to come back to Hermanus and Mulligans Guest Lodge again soon. Truly a memorable stay!"
