"Planning a road trip through Pingshan Canyon in Hefeng, I compared over a dozen guesthouses before finally settling on Banshandu. This mountain retreat was the highlight of the entire trip! Hidden deep in the mountains and forests, nestled against pristine natural landscapes, its unique and irreplaceable environment is unparalleled. In the evening, standing on the wooden terrace veranda, the distant mountains are bathed in the glow of the setting sun. Warm, star- and moon-shaped lights hang beneath the veranda, and white woven hanging chairs sway gently in the breeze. Sitting there at night, enjoying the mountain breeze and chatting, the atmosphere is simply divine; every snapshot is a masterpiece of ambiance. The backyard boasts a natural rock waterfall, with babbling mountain spring water cascading down the rock face. The lawn is meticulously manicured, and the pebble path is adorned with uniquely designed greenery. While strolling around, I even encountered the owner's gentle Bichon Frise dog wandering in the yard—so soft and cuddly, it was incredibly soothing and adorable! The guest rooms feature a warm, modern Chinese style decor with natural wood accents. The entire room is bright and airy, with huge floor-to-ceiling windows offering panoramic views of the lush green mountains from the bed. The bedding is fluffy and clean, and since it's a new establishment, many items are brand new. The room is equipped with a projector and brand-name appliances, far exceeding the standards of other guesthouses in the same price range. The owners are incredibly thoughtful. They provided a generous breakfast upon check-in, and the owner's homemade pickled radishes were especially delicious. They also offer a pick-up and drop-off service at Pingshan Scenic Area. To avoid the hassle of parking our car at their place, the owner drove us to the scenic area in his Mercedes and then waited for us at the scenic area again! A truly hidden gem of a guesthouse, I've already recommended it to friends and family planning a trip to Hefeng."

"I chose this guesthouse after comparing many options, as it had only recently opened. The decor was fresh and bright, showing a lot of care and attention to detail. It's somewhat similar to the style of the Ji Hotel. The outdoor courtyard is huge, with plants like peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, green beans, eggplants, and corn that you can pick yourself – my child loved it! The owners were very welcoming, speaking softly and genuinely. It's very close to the scenic area. We came back for lunch and ordered several dishes, which were quite delicious and generously portioned. I highly recommend it. The only downside is that the room only provides two bottles of water; any more cost extra. This is unnecessary, as you don't drink that much water anyway, and you'd only need two or three more bottles. Charging extra is really pointless."

"To be honest, I don't even want to write a review; it's full of terrible things. The guesthouse environment is pretty much the same everywhere, and being in the mountains, my expectations weren't high, but the service was so bad I don't even want to talk about it. Bugs kept getting into the room, and I had to get up at 5 AM with swollen eyes because of some kind of cricket chirping. There were no bath towels in the room, and when I called to ask for some, they actually asked me how many I needed! Did none of the people in our standard room not shower? I was cleaning up until midnight, and when I finished washing my hair, I found the hairdryer was still broken. For dinner, even though there was no one ahead of me when I ordered, I ended up waiting in line for almost an hour, probably because my order was cheap. They wouldn't give me an invoice even if it was a penny less, and by the time I left, they still hadn't issued it. I gave them the invoice and left it at that—no more! I didn't give it all one star for two reasons. First, the rooftop has a place to dry clothes, which is a nice touch; second, the chef was quite friendly during my last lunch. Also, I encountered a guest in the next room asking the landlady for bottled water, but she refused, saying that besides the two complimentary bottles in the room, additional bottles would require payment… Having stayed in so many hotels, this is the first one I've encountered, and I can't argue with that. If the hotel calls me to delete this review, I will add pictures; pictures don't lie."
