"Service was average. Additional restaurant booking. Poor floor manager of the restaurant April 26, 2026. Many complained about the service. 1. Waiting hours for a dish or drink. 2. Ordering something. You were referred to a colleague. Instead of the employee tipping off his colleague to go over. 3. Floor manager did not perform any control or supervisory duties. 4. We were not alone in this opinion. 5. Floor manager did not address us politely with "you." He spoke as if he had played marbles with us. In the hospitality industry, it seems like the standard phrase you get back is "it's your opinion." The entire restaurant was of the opinion that the floor manager was not doing his job. 6. Guests left without paying after asking 3 times, and no indication was given as to why no one could come. This was dismissed by the floor manager, who claimed that was not the case. Plus, a hotel guest had to go to the kitchen himself to ask where the food was and sat waiting for more than an hour. 7. If these are the guidelines of the Van der Valk Hotel, I will lower my rating. I hope the responsible location manager has more control here and treats the customer like royalty. I hope they are no longer treated like teenagers, arrogantly, and unwelcomely. 8. The evening team of April 26th could learn a thing or two from the morning team on April 27th; this team deserves a pat on the back!! Very hospitable service. We were addressed politely using "you." We were also asked if we could clear away used plates or glasses. That is why the service is rated average."

"Ended up paying twice as they had no account of my booking , even though I showed them my bank account . Sent them statements from both payment methods and they still said we have no booking for you. Had to chase through credit card company when I returned to Uk . Countless emails to the Heerlen hotel and head office ( not a single reply from them ) The hotel is very average , I wouldn’t say the staff are over friendly towards you.The double bed was two singles pushed together that kept spreading in the middle I will never be going back there ."

"Due to circumstances we had to cancel our stay and dinner. We had to pay half of the costs of the stay and even with cancellation of the restaurant 24 hours in advance we do not get any of the prepaid amount for the dinner back. A voucher was also not possible. I find it scandalous."
