Halls Gap|0.44km from downtown
Sadly this is not a Motel I would recommend staying at when visiting Halls Gap. The positives - Great communication from the Manager Kelly who from the moment we booked provided ample information about the property and it's surrounds. We were told our room was upgraded from a budget room to a Superior room which we were very excited about as I read on the Hotel Web page that the superior rooms had recently been renovated. The shower was nice and hot and had great pressure and the towels were fresh and clean but that is were the positive finished. We arrived late (9pm) and were leaving early the next morning (6.30am) so it was really just a place to lay our head for the night but the room was far from inviting. The carpet was badly stained with brown marks especially at the front door, the room had a funny oder (potentially because it was a 'pet friendly' room). We were travelling with our dog and paid $15 extra for the privilege eventhough this was not made clear on the booking.com web page which we booked on. I later found it was mentioned on the Gariwerd Motel booking page but we did not book on this. A suggestion would be to add it to the booking.com page too. The bathroom sink had a big black curly hair in it, the toilet door did not close properly and there is no exhaust fan in the bathroom so the entire room fogs up and condensation runs down the walls when you have a shower. It was freezing cold when we arrived so of course the first thing we needed to do was put the heating on. This ended up being a 20 minute process. After following instructions given, resetting the machine, cleaning the filters (which were caked in dust - picture provided) we finally got it working. Now I am not in the habit of writing negative reviews. Infact, I think this is my first trip advisor review ever but I felt compelled to write as I had read such good reviews about the Motel and in particular the emphasis on the cleanliness of the rooms. Sadly this is not what we experienced at all. I can't seem to upload pictures onto this link but will try and add them to the official Trip Advisor page.

YHA Grampians Eco, Halls Gap
4.4/519 Reviews
Out of all the Halls Gap hostels I've stayed at the YHA is officially my favourite. The place has a really good atmosphere and the owners are some of the nicest I've met whilst travelling - they were happy to share local knowledge and made my stay all the nicer. Location is great and the facilities were clean and well maintained - they are really committed to being eco friendly and covid safe. Also I booked via the YHA itself so the price for my private room was cheaper than what I saw on the booking sites. The only negative I can think of was the type of toilet roll holder they have in the mens' toilets. Will definitely stay here again!!!

Kookaburra Motor Lodge
4/561 Reviews
Hotel facilities are relatively old, window air-conditioning noise is basically not available, but there is an electric heater to resist the cold of Halls Gap night. The hotel is an old couple who are very welcoming and very patient with the Chinese who do not understand English. The room was clean and the bedding was comfortable. Open the balcony door to see the kangaroos jumping on the wide grass, about a hundred. The kangaroos are not afraid of people, they will jump in front of you, but you must know how to fear kangaroos, they are violent attackers.
Grampians View Cottages and Units

Had a lovely time at Grampians View Cottages. We were very warmly welcomed by Jurek and Grevillea Cottage was well appointed - well stocked kitchen cookware and utensils, loads of wood and kindling for the Coonara, lovely hot shower and great wifi!. Kids enjoyed the basketball court and bicycles free for hire. Had a dad emu and his 5 teen-emus wander right past our front door. Five minute drive into Halls Gap and a lovely hotel right across the road for dinner. Look forward to staying here again on our next visit to the Gap.
Halls Haven Holiday Units

The environment is very beautiful, the animals are at the feet; the backyard has kangaroos. Chickens, peacocks, sheep and other animals are also raised. Great for a holiday!
Breeze Holiday Parks - Halls Gap
4.1/5101 Reviews
The Park Team in the office are extremely friendly and very accommodating. In the 33 years our group of approximately 22 people have been attending the Park, we have never had any problems. The amenities are cleaned regularly and grounds well maintained. We currently camp, but have previously used the log cabin, cabins and powered sited and have always been happy. Fantastic place to get back to nature and chillax - great family Park. Close to shops, restaurants and you can do so many walks without having to take you car. Pet friendly :)
