Comfort Inn Sherman - Denison Area

"Booked for 5 nights, on checkin the lady was friendly, informed us Room cleaning would be on the 3rd day unless we requested it earlier. On the 3rd day on returning, our room wasn’t done, returned to reception and told, no we don’t do that anymore, and tomorrow is Christmas so it won’t be done either. 5 nights with not so much as our bin being emptied, new toiletries or towels, very unprofessional. I git new towels and was told to put the old ones outside my room, well they are still sitting in the hallway the next day! Rooms are old and clearly no maintenance has been done in them for years, health department would shut them down in any other country. Curtains are dirty, stained and falling apart as they are old and rotten. Rooms on bottom floor are facing carpark, so you have cars waking you up all the time, and people upstairs thumping around. We have never been treated by reception apart from checkin, there is never anyone sitting there, so no security at all. Breakfast has been standard, but that’s ok. We wake up on Christmas Day, to find absolute no breakfast, not even cereal out, this would have been nice to know the day prior, so we could purchase food before the shops closed for the break, I guess we will have no Christmas breakfast, not very festive or helpful when your in a different country and travelling with your teenage son. Also paid for breakfast in our rate, s I guess we will get a refund🤦‍♀️ The receptionist was not interested in our concern this morning, pretty much said “everything is closed” and was not interested in providing any advice or help. We have also been approached by a gentleman twice in the laundry (credit card operated only, again not great for over seas travelers who get charged a conversion rate and extra fees) he has tried to get us to go to his Airbnb in downtown Sherman. We felt very uncomfortable, but again no security or reception staff to be seen, so I guess anyone can walk in. Room is so dark, you can barely see, which is probably a good thing. About 6 power outlets only 1 or 2 work if you unplug a lamp which is the only lighting. I would recommend staying at the Holiday In express, as it’s basically in the same car park. Do yourself a favor and don’t book here! See photos attached, mouldy & rotten drapes, wall paper wet and falling off walls. Trash all over driveway on entering, it’s been there the whole 4 days"

Motel 6-Sherman, TX

"We were traveling from NE OK to Throckmorton, Texas. We stopped that night in Sherman, Texas at the Motel 6. The room was filthy. Dried toothpaste in bathroom sink, hair all over the sink, toilet, & shower stall. It was so disgusting, I refused to shower the following morning. The floors had debris everywhere & there was trash & I'm not sure what else under the beds. The curtains wouldn't close all the way, the door wouldn't latch unless locked & you could still see light coming in all around the door frame after locked. We only needed the room for a few hours to sleep so we didn't ask to change rooms. Also, I'm not confident the other rooms were any better."

"The room was absolutely filthy. It was apparent the room hadn't been cleaned in a long time. The window in the room did not latch/lock. There was however a plastic blind control rod they left to wedge into the window. It was very flimsy and probably wouldn't keep a determined thief out. The room had holes i the drywall and paint overspray on the carpet. The toilet was like like sitting on a rocking chair and the shower curtain was moldy. The previous wasnt nearly as big of an issue as the splattered blood smegma that was on the front of the air conditioner. I can only imagine this was a crime seen at some point. Probably the reason for the paint overspray that was on the carpet. The main entrance to the building and hallways did not lock so anybody off the street has access to the room doors. When I checked in I was given 1 card key. When I asked for a 2nd they replied with we are running low, but when we get more they would give me another. I was only there for 1 night. It was 1 night too many. I would reccomend Wyndam corporate make a visit and try to bring this place up to a standard that I have seen in other hotel/motels. This place is a dump and should not be allowed to be open from a health and safety concern"

"This is an older property that is getting a lot of attention to make it cute. The decorations are adorable but it still has the problems that go with age - the beds are still old, the bathroom floor creaks, the shower head hits my chest (I'm 5' 2") and the toilet takes three flushes. That being said, it is within two minutes of Highport Marina (by car), is the only motel-style lodging in Pottsboro and is the cheapest lodging without considering cabins. The rates are the same as the chain hotel/motels ten minutes away in Denison so it is really up to what your priorities are - closer to the lake or better quality room. There is good boat parking and plenty of it. They also have boat storage facilities on the premises if you are thinking of more of a home base for the lake instead of just a stayover. One thing to consider is that the party area is really used for that. The night we were there, there was a party essentially out in the parking lot until the wee small hours. It wasn't too much of an issue until people starting going to bed and had forgotten by that time to be quieter near the rooms. There is also a local neighborhood bar across the street."
