"Classy home experience coupled with great room and service. Good food and the buffet breakfast in something else. Gym. What catches me about this place in addition is the architecture and cleanliness.... When in Freetown this is the place to be...."

The Family Kingdom Resort

The Family Kingdom Resort

📍 FPR5+W79, Lumley Beach Rd, Freetown
★★★ 8.4 (16 reviews)

"I stayed at Family Kingdom in January 2024 after a colleague recommended it. It was wonderful. It is family-run, clean and safe. The restaurant is good, the service is excellent, and the breakfast is good. The grounds are spacious and clean, with a delightful quirkiness. (Ceramic birds in a giant cage? Check! Statue of King Kong and Fay Wray? Check! Mysterious stuffed American turkey? Check!) There are also some gentle birds and a deer that wander the grounds, contributing to the general sense of peacefulness and contentment. Two thumbs up."

"The whole hotel culture is “we do not care about the guests”. Examples: -asked the receptionist to call through their landline number a local restaurant to investigate if they were open or closed. They showed no willingness to do so and they didn’t. -the cleaning lady got into my room while I was still inside and without my permission in order to pick up the towels -asked for the gym, no staff seemed to know where it is located. Once, somebody eventually, pinpointed it to me, the whole gym was without electricity, completely abandoned and out of use (see photo) -throughout my friends long stay, after a week the hotel staff freaked out with the aggregating costs and they decided to block the guests key without informing/discussing with them the situation."

"A large group of colleagues stayed here. We loved it! The rooms were spacious and comfortable. It had a minifridge and a hot water kettle. They provided a bottle of water each day and a plate of fruit, plus tea and coffee. A really lovely touch is that they deliver a baked good like a muffin or cookie to your room every afternoon! They also have cookies and espresso available in the lobby. The ocean view from my room was gorgeous. The bathroom was fantastic! It had a magical waterfall shower that never lacked for hot water. They provide basic toiletries like shampoo. I really appreciated how accommodating they were with us- we had to change plans a few times and they were able to help with that. They have a helpful service at the airport where their staff will help get you transported from the airport to the boat dock, then they pick you up again on the other side of the bay and transport you to the hotel. The complimentary breakfast buffet was very good. Lots of options, including made to order omelets, fruit, toast, beans, plantains, salads, etc. The restaurant next door to the hotel was fantastic, and you can charge meals to your room. The wifi always worked well for me. The pool is fairly small but was clean and a comfortable temperature. I would stay here again!"

"I really enjoyed the hotel, staff and the services. Thanks to Regina! Staff are very attentive the clients specific needs and during my stay the waiters learnt that I was looking for house for longterm needs and gave me contacts through which I found a place to live. They knew my tea preferences and would prepare it the way I like it. The manager Ahmed is one of most cheerful and optimistic person I have met recently. His staff at the front desk: Fundia, Priscilla and Emmanuel were phenomenal. Room was well maintained and cleaned. Thanks to Regina! God bless you and keep up the good work."
